Yes, you’re the civilizing force fighting to break the Stolen Lands out of that same repetitive, destructive (natural? unnatural?) cycle it’s been stuck in for a thousand iterations.
That's a possible angle yes, but I think the fey one is just more appealing. If you go in with the intent of banishing all the magic from the stolen lands then your ending with the LK is like 'ok just forget this ever happened' and then its over, you are another of the River Kingdoms. Meanwhile, creating an enchanted River Kingdom by allying either the LK or Nyrissa means you've gone beyond ancient Taldor's achievements in Verduran.

I'd even say that compared to the Commander in Wrath the baron of Kingmaker *earned* themselves a bunch of mythic ranks. First by defeating a spawn of rovagug, then a demigod, and then by becoming immortal lords of a magical land.

Now I can see myself playing an LN Abadarite that just tames the Stolen Lands but their town square is just too boring.

as soon as your toy is criticized, you fly into a rage like a scorned child.
It's not my game. It's one I enjoy and want to do well so other people will buy it and the devs can afford to make more and so other devs will make similar games.

You lied to to the forum in a way so transparent you insulted the intelligence of anyone reading your comment. I returned the insult in a way just as unmistakable so you wouldn't think you'd gotten away with it. It's a shitty way to act.

So you think the management draws people to the game?

Come on now, there's no way you believe that.

Now you're intimating that I'm lying about my own subjective experience that I've transparently explained? Not good.

Yes, it drew me. A lot of people out there like kingdom-building stuff so probably drew them initially too. Implementation wasn't great (as I said I didn't like it at first) and people like you were already getting the brainworms started so people let themselves get talked out of figuring it out and stayed bad at it so didn't like it. People never gave Wrath Crusade a chance because the mindless pile-on was so so sweet but that wears off after awhile and Wrath sales have done well so they'll probably find a softer target on which to feed.

If RT gets it right then there will be a lot of people who forget that they hated it. Just like there's a lot of people now who forget that they loved Oblivion when it came out or whatever.
Desi, Desi...
The fun thing is, You probably don't even understand the hypocrisy - and the irony - in this.

For the record, I didn't like kingdom management either but then I only played first two chapters (more than once but still) so my opinions on the mechanics aren't worth much. However, unlike some other people in this thread, I believe that elements like this (management, strategy) CAN have place in a CRPG. Just that in Kingmaker it was badly done - as far as i can tell. It need to be well integrated into the main mechanics. Which, again as far as i can tell, it wasn't.

On another note - Is it only me or the designation "kingdom" is silly? I mean, ignoring all the plot reasons, it looks in size to me more like a barony or county maybe? Certainly not a kingdom unless we talk about "small kingdoms" in Lawrence Watt-Evans book "With a single spell".

What a wonderful place the Codex is, where even opinions worth of Kotaku journalists matter.

Scotland was a kingdom - until it wasn't. Luxembourg is a "Duchy". Liechtenstein is headed by a Prince. Pitax was a kingdom - it was smaller than the whole barony before its conquest.

The Stolen Lands are not Tian Xia. It is not an empire, like Azlant was. It is - after the war - an independent kingdom.

banishing all the magic from the stolen lands
What are you talking about? Any Kingdom worth it's salt embraces Magic with open arms from its very birth.

Divination, Evocation, Transmutation, even some, er, Necromancy. But above all Enchantment.

I don't look at it so much as allying with Nyrissa as Taming the Shrew. Which after all is a Comedy (happy ending, especially for Kate).

Now I can see myself playing an LN Abadarite that just tames the Stolen Lands but their town square is just too boring.
This is the corner the post-Christian post-humane West has painted themselves into. There are other kinds of Kingdoms, even in Golaria.

Kingdoms are to be ranked according to the pzazz of their town square.
  1. CN - cool statue, fey boobs
  2. NG/CG - a town faire is rather river kingdoms i'd say
  3. LG - an angel statue i guess. is this wrath no then who cares
  4. LE - gallows, red tint. has spunk for what its going for but does it fit the narrative?
  5. NE - isn't it just LE but not as cool?
  6. LN - literally nothing for some reason
Chaotic Neutral is the superior kingdom even if it lacks the technology to set up some 'adventurer's boards' here and there.

It is a wonderful place, i agree however I literally said that my opinions on kingdom management "aren't worth much". You on the hand did this:
Scotland today (and with similar borders in the past) has almost 80000 km2 and had hundreds of thousands of inhabitants even in middle ages (~5,5 million today). Luxembourg isn't and never was a kingdom, and was 3 or 4 times bigger than it is now, it was partitioned several times in early modern era. It also was a county for a long time until House of Luxembourg came to power in HRE and one of their emperors made it a duchy. It was much larger than anything shown in game and still only county later duchy. But you are completely ignorant about all that. You didn't even "play" the 2 chapters of European history and geography.

CE has torturing racks on the main square. I like it.

What "critique" exactly did I make? You mean here? In this thread?
None, none at all. Must just be my imagination.

I post content, you post empty innuendo.

How can i know if you imagined it or not when you refuse to tell me what you meant by that post of yours?
Definition of Innuendo: "An indirect or subtle, usually derogatory implication in expression; an insinuation". The only derogatory thing i said to you was related to your hypocrisy and it wasn't indirect, subtle or an insinuation. You are a hypocrite.

Posting an answer, more or less: "I won't bother answering" and adding some insults must be a great content in your mind.
Posting a fragment of some unrelated movie must be as well. Hell, it might be even related to Pathfinder: Kingmaker somehow. I wouldn't know, i can't be arsed to watch it.

Edit: Damn. My English is terrible. Some spelling corrections.

You impugn my character with no evidence to back it up damn straight I’m giving you an insult and I’d give you another but I’d imagine the readers of the forum are getting tired of your baseless bullshit and are looking instead for something that has to do with the topic of the thread.

We can at least agree on the last part so I'm finishing with my bullshit* - if you are done with yours. We can stop this highly intellectual and sophisticated (on both sides!) discussion.

*Personally I like to think it is more of a horseshit or even ape-shit.

Sorry guys, the MC is obviously Hedwirg the Resolute, as depicted in all the illustrations.

Hedwirg the Resolute is a human fighter who is deadly with his flail, and he skillfully uses his heavy shield for both attack and defense. An experienced mercenary, Hedwirg makes a point of never joining an ignoble cause, no matter how good the pay is. He towers over the battlefield like a mountain, protecting his comrades with all his might.

Wanting to do a full Evil meme run as a scion of House Rogarvia (red dragon descendents) dont know if its better to go Eldritch Scion or Sorcerer/Eldritch Knight. Is the full bloodline line worth it or not ?
