Hi everyone! I don't think I've ever posted in this thread before but I saw the news on the front page (thanks for keeping everyone updated on rpgs Infini, this place is just as awesome as tumblr for staying informed on fandoms, sis!) that the new DLC lets you date a cute Peter Kavinsky type of character?

Spark a new love. Varn is your commander, an old friend and a trusted ally... But could he mean something more to you? Play as a heroine to find out!

This is such a romantic hook I just have to play this game now!!! So my question for you is please please tell me it's been patched properly now? :heart emoji:

Most of the major bugs have been ironed out of the main campaign and I have not noticed anything too glaring in the DLC content. If you don't like the shipping aspects of the game, you don't have to engage in any of the romantic relationships. However, apparently a sizeable portion of the fanbase do care about such things which is why it was mentioned in the marketing I imagine. I know some "hardcore" RPG fans view any kind of shipping content as taking away from more important stuff but I would say even setting aside the romance stuff Kingmaker provides a lot of stuff for the player to do and a lot of ways to roleplay in the story. Most of the story stuff is dealing with building your own kingdom and foiling the people trying to bring the kingdom down. If you want to do that with companions you can. If you want to do it solo or with a bunch of handcrafted mooks, you can do that too (although you will have to interact with the NPCs that act as your advisors unless you automate the kingdom mechanic). The game offers the player a lot of choices.

Strange that it took DLC description for you to notice. There is 7 (with first DLC) romancable characters in the game with pretty long arcs and easily x5 content comparing to Dumpsterfire.

Sure but which of those original 7 (with first DLC) companions would you describe as Peter Kavinsky quality?

An oasis of love and friendship.
Make the Codex Great Again! Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. I helped put crap in Monomyth
I just defeated the Stag Lord and now I am hearing about a 1.3 patch that will alter kingdom management? I don't remember kingdom management being that bad before but wondering what I should do now.. just wait for that patch since I'm about to start doing kingdom shit? Or just go through chapter 2 and then start the DLC while waiting for 1.3? Not sure exactly what they are planning on changing and how that will affect kingdoms that already exist.

Don't wait for 1.3, it is probably 30 days away.

I think there is no point in waiting unless you play betas. Because early beta builds of P:K is special kind of pleasure and ending up with completely broken kingdom after loading one is quite in the realm of possibilities.

My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.
Hooray, Sahiya delivered me her Mastery Fauchard!

And its really kinda fun. It triggers the extra attack damage regardless of successfull combat maneuver source. Meaning Cloak of Winter Wolf Bite Trips qualify.
Feral Mutagen Bites work... but this also prompted me to do a hard respec and switch the Tiefling type of my char into a Motherless with another Bite (used to be Hungerseed).

Bite attacks triggering trip triggering Fauchard two-handed damage (with no attack roll) as well as trip triggering Attacks of Opportunity kinda rock.
2 of them are pretty great. But 3 would be even better. Dragon Disciple Bite is permanent in Kingmaker, correct?
Guess I'll take the remaining 6 levels as 2 Archeologist Bard (kinda wanted Uncanny Dodge anyway) / 4 Dragon Disciple.
Apart from 3rd Bite, it will also let me self buff Mirror Image and provide some nice Str and AC increases (about on par with Grand Mutagen). No further Sneak Attack progression but... I don't expect to be having problems with damage.

I didn't realize the different bite attacks (tiefling, mutagen, barb and DD could net you 4 while raging?) stacked. Dang.

I'm replaying Varnhold DLC - there are actually quite a lot of secrets hidden in the final dungeon e.g. boogie man (perception check) and the dog in the entrance level.

Still haven't really figured out what really triggers the portal by casting teleport/dimension door spell that changes the dog into a monster.
Both encounters were good fun and you get pretty decent loots too.

Boogie man was fucking tough, I had fully buffed party and it still almost won.

Yeah that was a fun fight :D Did you end up fighting the dog that transforms:

into mature Athach? It randomly triggered for me when I used dimension door spell in the entrance level near the ankou that's trapped with a corpse - btw, is there a way to get to this ankou?

I am playing, but as I'm just getting to the kingdom stuff I am concerned that their changes will end up fucking me over or something when it has to change mid-way through.
I highly doubt it, I waited for 1.2 which improved Kingdom Management dramatically, I doubt the next changes will be a quantum leap or anything. Just go for it.

Indeed. Initially I didn't think they would either. But they do. And its pretty great.

Yes I did, all those fights were fun. One of them gave kickass belt too.

I think that winter wolf cloack still worked for me in dragon form if I remember it right.
I definitely remember triping everything( даже небо и алааха) in dragon form without trip feats.

I'm loving the game and have had to spend alot of time nailing down the mechanics and complexity of the game except with one problem.

For the life of me I just cannot figure out how to play Regongar properly and I've even run out of quick buttons for his skills. I'm lv13 and I still don't know how to use him properly. Can anyone explain how I'm meant to play an eldrich scion?

For example the whole one handed weapon thing. Does it have to be an agile weapon to count? It seems like he's holding his longsword with 2 hands from the damage bonus from strength. And also I don't quite understand the spellstrike concept, I understand him charging up his touch spell and landing it simultaenously with his sword, but haven't quite worked out what his other ability actually really does. And then also I just got an ability that allows me to spend 2 points to resolve all attacks this round as touch spells and I don't know what that means.

What really confused me initially with the magus classes was how to use/benefit from full attacks. Spell Combat is a full round action, if you have it enabled and set some spell for autocast, the default AI behaviour is usually to precast the spell from a safe distance, then move to engagement range, attack with spellstrike and... do nothing. "Wasting" basically 2 rounds before engaging enemies and actually getting a chance to fullattack. Byt the time his turn would come again, the enemies in range might be already dead, then you need to move again... and waste another round.

My advice would be to disable SpellCombat and "untoggle" spells when the combat begins, only re-enable those things once you've engaged the enemies and can spend full round actions on casting and attacking, without moving. And alternative is to open combat with Charge, but its not always an option (obstructed path or enemies too near).

It helps to Enlarge (later Legendary Proportion) to have more attack reach and need less movement between the enemies.

Even worse: when you have a spell stored you can only wobble about in slow-mo even when hasted. So, Regongar really never even managed to get an attack off, the others in the party killed stuff too quick. It's probably for the best to disable spell combat/spell strike and micro manage it when you need it or want to use it. If you're impartial to that kind of constant need for micro I recommend ranged magus instead.
