More sincerely, if the aim is to ensure that people don't misrepresent the holy game and actually L2P, etc. then actually giving direction to a fairly comprehensive encyclopedia + the game resources seems to be a better way to go than whatever endless screenshot flipbook was going on here. The autistic leading the blind. ;)

Desiderius yeah, completely effectively covered that. That was so clear from the responses you were getting. If anyone listening to you was anymore illuminated, they'd be blind.
Hmm ignoring the obvious sarcasm, I am not sure if the intention of this metaphor is to state that they are currently even worse off than blind and you are taking them from worse than blind to blind, or if the intention is to state that hes so illuminating that the light puts out your eyes. I need some clarity here.

Hence mediocre poet.

Many such cases.

My aim is an attitude adjustment so people will learn for themselves and enjoy the process like many of us did instead of throwing up their hands before they even get started because they grew up on shitty games and so expect games to be shitty.

All the dipshit ankle-biters would be better served finding a better use for your time.

Yes, so linking them to a source that you said yourself you learned from when starting is clearly ineffective. Especially given that even with its improvements, there are some shortcomings with the in game resources.

You get so upset when people make fun of you, but this is why it happens. You're so far up your own ass, you don't even see the outside world anymore. Just some sort of realm of perfect forms where the ideal game is being written, but no one else sees it!

Why are you so attached to this game? Its just a freaking game, an entertainment escapism vessel, unless you are employees or profit from this game, i don't understand the attitude otherwise.
I want to have enjoyable experience, i open the game and want to have all relevant information inside, so i can start theorycrafting. I don't want to play this game few times[not like i would have so much time to waste considering the huge length of this game with its boring repeating kingdom management] to learn things that could be easily placed in a fucking encyclopedia. When i play games i do this for enjoyment, and nothing brings me more enjoyment than clearly and coincisely explaining the ruleset. It can be done before actual journey, or as the journey progresses.

When even community wiki can't explain it clearly:
https://pathfinder-kingmaker.fandom.com/wiki/Difficulty_Class_(DC)
Then the official ruleset also DON'T have an entry specifically about DC
https://cse.google.com/cse?cx=006680642033474972217:6zo0hx_wle8&q=difficulty+class#gsc.tab=0&gsc.q=difficulty class&gsc.page=1
Then im starting to get annoyed. You really thought i haven't checked the official ruleset before asking on forum?

I'm not sure I'm following along. Will admit. I've forgotten what was being discussed. In the d20 link from above. This is presented about DC:
Whenever a creature attempts to perform an action whose success is not guaranteed, he must make some sort of check (usually a skill check). The result of that check must meet or exceed the Difficulty Class of the action that the creature is attempting to perform in order for the action to be successfu
The check is basically a sum of all relevant bonuses + a 20 sided dice roll.

Oh look. Someone doesn't understand basic D&D terminology! I shall laugh at them.
:martini:

Seriously though, what the fuck is unclear about DC? When you attempt to do something, you roll for relevant skills/attributes/whatever, then you add modifiers and check the result against Difficulty Class of what you attempted to do - a numerical value representing how hard your goal is to achieve. If the result of your roll exceeds the DC you succeed, if it doesn't - you fail. While P:K can rightly be blamed for not explaining a lot of things, DC is a trivial concept.

Reread what i said. I wanted specific formula given in the game. Like you do while programming the code meaning Final result =(base stat + this modifier - this modifier)*difficulty*rounded down(charisma or int)/2. Is that too much to ask? Are modern devs fucking tards and think that everyone who play their games, would have a meltdown seeing some math formula in an encyclopedia entry? Were they marketing to casual tards? Or maybe they expect that their games are played by autist tards who love to waste 100h of game to "learn" about something?[while still not knowing if their formula they devised through ingame experience is correct...] that could be easily placed in game or mined from ingame files. But why do that in first place, it should be in encyclopedia entry, you know the thing that smart players[not casuals] actually look for if they want 100% explanation of mechanics?

It's in the encyclopedia. I took time out of my day to load up the game, take a shot, and circle it for you.

I like playing good games and want there to be many available for my sons to play. People shitting on good games and giving them a bad rep means fewer good games being made.

How is this complicated?

Rolling against a DC is such a fundamental concept in D&D that explaining it is akin to telling an FPS player to use LMB to shoot. When attempting something you roll d20, add relevant modifiers, be they positive or negative, then check against DC of what you were trying to do to determine whether you're successful. End of story.

Well depends on the context of the difficulty check. For example, from one of Desiderius's screenshots where he's trying to dispel an enemy's displacement. The enemy's Difficulty Check is 28. Then you have the Caster Level of the character who is trying to dispel the displacement(17) + d20 dice. Based on the result will determine if he passes the check or not.

And then shortly thereafter you find the Gloves that give you an additional +4, and you can also use Spell Specialization to get another +2. This is what the whole game is about.

No the formula wasn't explained. There was nothing telling that it uses charisma modifier[instead of actual charisma stat] that is right next to stat, and that it is calculated by adding the modified value as Sharpedge explained with round_down(raw stat -10)/2 formula to the base DC which is 10. So in my case it was 10+5[which was devised from (21-10)/2 rounded down].
Why can't you admit this isn't explained ingame by a proper FINAL formula? What's with the aversion to math formulas in games generally?

Desiderius is essentially saying that all you need to do is open the encyclopedia, re-play the game three times, read through the pathfinder rulebook, learn programming and extract the source code from the game to find the relevant ini.file in order to learn the exact calculation.

No, I'm pretty sure Desiderius is grotesquely offended by the suggestion that you need to read the pathfinder rulebook online or do anything other than replaying the game eight times along with right clicking on every pixel of the interface.

No, I just explained that I myself was put off by "having" to use d20 so much, then once I started looking realized to my own embarrassment how much was already there.

The only difference between us is that one of us can admit when he's wrong.

Even in the example you provided yourself you had to go down to Magic > Saving throws to find a calculation for DC hidden in the sixth paragraph which also presupposes the reader understands the ability score only affects it at rounded numbers. This is some next level fanboying.
Of course there's nothing clear there . It's not even fanboyism its for the pleasure of being an agressive cunt bullying and shitting on someone who dont know.

Well i pity people who have nothing better to do than play this 10 times and being a cunt to people who want to play their beloved game. You know you would expect that people would rather ENCOURAGE you by their behavior to play the game, than discourage. Ive asked because i couldn't find a concrete formula for this. Both ingame encyclopedia, reddit posts, community encyclopedia and even pathfinder resource ruleset didn't provide this. Its you know, the RPG forum, where RPG experts are sitting and people who frequently stalk given topic will probably know an answer, that's why people tend to go to rpgcodex and ask for advice, some of them will stay some will go.

Jesus fucking christ im done.

Yes because criticism of obtuse explanations in an encyclopedia will deprive your dear sons from good games.

Dude, you just need to know your spells' DC (10 + spell level + your main casting ability modifier + eventual feats) and your enemy's saving throw bonus, then factor in the d20 roll. How hard can that be?

People have been explaining it to you for two seven pages.

How about being done trying to vindicate your belief that we're cunts and instead consider the possibility that you were mistaken and that you're perfectly capable of handling this game after all?

And then there are dipshits like Mortmal clouding the issue projecting all over instead of coming to terms with his own limitations.

This is not a formula and doesn't explain rounding down.

People i don't mind searching for info in external sources -many RPGs fail short in explaining their mechanics[many retarded devs are actually afraid that actual mechanic/programming formula can be copied by others, or obfuscate this intentionally to give player more "enjoyment" of finding on its own], if i have to, but if i look through all availible sources and can't find the information, then im getting really pissed.

You could come here and ask where the bonus is and how it works. Instead you came in with hurr durr game suxxors. The bad attitude is what's blocking you. Not the game. Not us.

Yeah and then i politely asked what's wrong with DC of 15, and asked how it's calculated. Instead of getting a simple formula i got a diatribe for 7 pages and no one could give a simple answer beside Sharpedge.

I don't get it.
