If I look at this "hotfix", it's 1.7 GB, much larger than the last ones. It may just be that we are actually looking at the "big patch" here, while they realized that they haven't even scratched the top of bug mountain.
It's more likely that the size is due to some files being replaced wholesale, and some of the individual fixes being very large (such as the area fixes or something), because the list of fixes isn't impressive.
That explanation is much too reasonable to serve as a good conspiracy theory.

I love items like this! It's pretty strong on a barbarian with the Animal Fury rage power. (gives bite attack when Full Attacking)

GOG Galaxy just destroyed my installation ...
That's what happens, traitor.

As far as I'm concerned, there's still no patch up on GOG. Lazy good-for-nothing bastards always holding out on the patches.

Holy shit, that sounds absolutely obscene for some builds.

So i'm lvl ~4,5, i know Stag Lord location and have 1,5 months until deadline. Time to grind exp.:bounce:
I tried, but grinding didn't really work, at least if you are still somewhere halfway to level 5. The XP rewards for simple battles seem to be a bit too low for fast leveling.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
So do GOG often hold back the manual backup patches? Because that's how I installed the game and there's no 1.5. I get the impression they want me to install Galaxy.

If I understood that correctly, the Galaxy patches are put into the system by the developer, which is fast, while the manual patches have to be put into the database by some GOG employee, which takes a while.

I'm still stuck with 1.03 (gog, linux). I tried installing 1.04 (after downloading another 30 gb), but there was some kind of a problem with the installation. Maybe the download got messed up? If not, I hope they'll fix it for 1.05.

How many hotfixes is it going to take before a single person can finally complete this? It would be wild if it takes longer than the 22nd

Turjan Yeah I thought some POE inclined GOG emplyee might be to blame.
Zero Credibility Just watch out for the file names (assuming you made the same mistake as me) as you have to download all 7 files of the same version, then the patch brings it up to the next version. Problem is when you're 3 of 7 (main) files through and they upgrade all main files to the latest patch version...

First encounter was 3 bloody something dudes dealing 30-40 dmg each hit without crits.

Yes, that's exactly what they want. They even call the downloadable versions "backup" now.

I feel it's a matter of time before they remove downloadable installers and it will all be done through their slow, unrensponsive, resource hog, feature-barren client

Nobody can tell you because, as far as I can see from the achievements, nobody has come even close to the end of the game. Those achievements still sit firmly at 0.0%.

Nobody has claimed all regions. Nobody has finished all companion quests. Nobody seems to have finished any romances :D.

So I ask you: What's a few bugs in the face of such an awesome piece of gaming?

From what I read so far the game is so buggy that BT4 looks like the shining paragon for well-optimized and playtested games.
I won't play the game till at least a dozen patches are out despite me thinking that it looks and sounds awesome as an rpg.

No amount of patches can fix BT4.
The game is buggy mess, starting from chapter 4 it is unplayable! It is a lot buggier than BT4. I just "finished" the tristan quest,in the final battle the guardain of the bloom and some dude spawned and died to stone golems. I decided to try and save them, thinking that they are allies or something plot related, turned out that they are bug spawns that shouldn't be there and you can't interact with them. Also i can't level up casters because you don't have a spell list to chose from, thus not being able to finish the levelling. Soooo....yeah the game is mess at best, garbage if we have to be realistic. It will be great game once it is filled with DLCs and patches. Now it is not worth buying!

People that buy such unfinished games are the reason why we get such alphas!

Was about to take you seriously until I remembered your previous shady post.
Be a man; support the Russians. I don't think they're on the same playing field as WB was when they released that buggy unplayable Batman game.

I see no reason it isn't completable as is, it's mostly the sidequests & kingdom stuff that are buggy.

It's also a really long game. A lot longer than I thought it would be.

That's on windows, right? On linux I have just one big file to download, so it's not that issue. My installation just fails after a couple of minutes with a less than useful "Failed to create file" message. Going to try re-downloading the whole thing in hope it works now, 1.05 is not up yet anyway.

My bane is the group of bandits (rogues?) with one cleric on the eastern side of the map. The way sneak attacks work in this game is devastating. I need at least one companion with crowd control. You can't even buy scrolls for those.

Unlike ye'olde classics this game is finishable, I was only able to finish Arcanum after a year. Thanks to lack of internet mostly but still..
Also there is Gothic 3 disaster...
This game is bug free considering older classics.

GOG galaxy is garbage and was a waste of developer time. If they ever switch away from direct downloads on their site they'd lose a huge chunk of their customers.
