How to kill the 8th level Water Elemental by the 2nd level party on the Core difficulty?

finsh that battle last. All over the dungeon, you get: Potion of Resist Cold, Potion of Blur, Potion of Barskin, Scroll of Prayer

Slap a Crossbow on Cam because she will die in one Slam/Cleave. Let Seelah drink and use all the above + give her Reduce Person, let her tank. Lann/Wendu and Cam shoot. Let your MC do whatever he is supposed to I guess.

Stack AC on Seelah, get a strong source of damage (no consecutive hits, you need something that deals good damage all together like a 2 hander, the elemental has DR 5/-), toss resist cold and a few healing pots on Seelah so she can tank a 2-3 hits, and hope your damage dealer rolls well.

Usual tactics like enlarge on your melee, buffs like bless and debuffs like the witch's evil eye - reduce to hit chance help. Also, even though it's water, it's not immune to grease.
Remember it has 5 DR, so don't even bother with weaker attacks, other than something like magic missiles.
I figure it's more important to make sure the thing misses than to make sure your guys are hitting, so the angel buff/debuff and evil eye spam are very helpful for that.

A special Valentine's Day update

Hello, Valentines!

Perhaps when you are marching into the Worldwound on a holy crusade, romantic relationships are the last thing you expect to find along the way. But you never know how close you might become with someone who likes killing demons as much as you do! So let’s take a closer look at those comrades-in-arms who might be interested in getting to know their Commander better.

1. Lann

Lann is a stoic and sarcastic archer who will pierce your enemies with both his arrows and quips. When you meet him, love is probably the last thing he’s looking for. Mongrels’ lives are short, and he seems more interested in a heroic death for a good cause than in finding a soulmate. But what if he meets a woman worth living for?

2. Wenduag

Wenduag is a fierce and cunning mongrel woman who only respects power, and wants to follow the strongest. Will you be able to show her that there’s more to life than the endless race to become stronger? Will you be able to convince her that there is a place for love in her heart? Wenduag will be interested in a strong Commander regardless of their gender.

3. Camellia

A refined, but arrogant and cold-hearted young lady with a tongue sharper than her rapier, Camellia keeps her distance from everyone and seems to prefer the company of spirits to yours. Will you attempt to earn her trust and conquer her heart? Or maybe you are after a thrilling experience? Either way - good luck. When it comes to personal life, Camellia prefers men.

4. Daeran

Daeran Arendae is a young and dashing aasimar noble, as charming as he is insufferable. His life is a mix of dark family secrets, whimsical parties lasting from dusk till dawn, scandalous endeavors, and tragedies of the past. Is there a place for love in this whirl? Maybe you would like to find out? Daeran is open for any relationship.

5. Arueshalae

Arueshalae is a succubus who seeks redemption. Her kiss can kill, and she’s afraid to harm people she starts to care about. Will you support her on her path and encourage to follow her dream, or will you make her embrace her demonic nature? Arueshalae is curious about the love mortals experience, and the Commander’s gender doesn’t matter to her.

6. Sosiel

A kind cleric of Shelyn, the goddess of beauty, love, and art, Sosiel sees it as his calling to help others preserve their humanity at war. Will you become his trusted friend, his muse and a source of love and support, or his dark desire? Only you can decide. Sosiel sees beauty in everyone, but will only start a romantic relationship with a man.

7. Queen Galfrey.

Queen Galfrey has been keeping Mendev together for almost a hundred of years thanks to the magical sun orchid elixir which prolongs her youth. She led all the crusades, cheered for the victories of her people and mourned their losses. She outlived most of her friends, and became more of an icon, a symbol that still unites the crusaders to this day. But maybe you are the one who will see a person behind the legend? Maybe you will be the one to offer Galfrey love and a long-desired peace? Both male and female Commanders may have a chance to win the royal heart.

As some of you may have noticed already, five of these romances (Lann, Wenduag, Camellia, Arueshalae and Sosiel) are in the beta of Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, and if you backed the game at Early Access tier or higher, you can experience the first stages of these romances. If you can’t wait to discuss the romances with like-minded people and give your feedback to our narrative designers, you can join our discord server, where we have a special channel set for that purpose. If you backed at Early Access or higher, but don’t see your beta key in the Digital Download section in your profile on our pre-order portal, please write to team@owlcatgames.com, and we will help. Find your Valentine!

From Owlcats with love.

Wow, just wow. What an interesting update. Almost like Owlcat tries to out-Bioware Bioware.

BASED and REDPILLED russians do it again with the gay romances
They have a better handle of their player demographics than Bioware. Straight guys get four options, gay men and straight women each get two and sharing one, gay women get three that are shared with straight men. :P

Owlcat is following Bioware's footsteps when it comes to not making the pretty white boy available for the gays. Alistair, Cullen, Tristian, and now Lann. Anders from DA2 was the only exception.

So apparently the crafting system is there only for potions and scrolls... lame.

I prefer it that way. Otherwise, what's the point of exploring and overcoming challenges to win better equipment? What's the value of "unique" item properties? Lastly what's the point of specialization? (I understand the last point can be seen as a negative, but I'm against every weapon feeling samey).

Ideally the devs could include an artifact equipment "upgrade" system with unique paths, similar to Deadfire. That game has crazy good itemization.
Adding the 3.x weapon crafting system wouldn't automatically make "exploring and overcoming challenges to win better equipment" pointless, since when crafting you can only pick weapon properties from a standard limited list, while loot given as reward can have unique properties. In Kingmaker, being able to craft a +3 Flaming Shock longsword wouldn't make Perfection useless, and being able to craft an Empower Metamagic Rod wouldn't make the Grandmaster's Rod useless.

Crafting is a fucking plague on CRPGs. It's literally just an excuse for developers to not even bother with itemization.
I almost never bother with crafting in any game I play because usually that's the most boring shit you can do with your time. But if you give the option to craft scrolls and potions, at least add also wands to the list.

It doesn't necessarily make it pointless, but it practically does. Because either crafting system is not good thus pointless waste of resources that could have been spent on designing handmade and handplaced items or it is too good that it makes them irrelevant. Overall crafting systems are a trap choice, and only work in absence of actually good itemization via drops or by spending disproportionate amount of resources on trying to make it work. In a world where a game dev can spend years on the game with no real constraints on resources sure (as is the case with PNP that gets iterated over the years) but unfortunately it doesn't work that way. Best case scenario is like that of Deadfire, where you find drops or purchase handmade items and "craft" them by choosing from pre-allowed bonuses. Material investment (currency) of the crafting is just delegated to shop costs or availability.

Good itemization is really what makes or breaks a RPG, but flies under the radar and treated as a secondary pursuit somehow.

Did they implement Steadfast Personality in this game? That feat makes Wisdom a great dump stat.

do none of the other backgrounds even come close to how good acolyte/healer are or am I missing something

You're missing something. As usual. Who plays WIS based MC?

do none of the other backgrounds even come close to how good acolyte/healer are or am I missing something
none has such a great mechanical change as WIS to Persuasion, no

but the +2 Initiative one is p nice

Hunter gives Longbow prof. You can get free Dueling Sword prof etc... There are about ten worth looking at depending. I took the +2 to diplo since didn't need the other stuff.

Lann isn't pretty. You corrupted the Good. Be satisfied with that.

Itemization already among best ever. Crafting off to great start since only duplicating/supplementing existing abilities/making a little cash when it matters. Gated in multiple ways (reagents, equipment, feats). More skills matter means more :incline:.

I played the beta and found a bug. How could this happen to me?

Breaking a basic class function that worked fine throughout previous game and alpha is not what betas are for. Betas are not even for introducing new classes without their basic functions or tooltips working, which is the case with Skald, Arcanist, Cavs, etc., but this takes it to a whole new level.

The masons are laboring away on the cathedral, but the villagers need to be making them sandwiches not debating what color they want to paint the marble.
