Mad Dog is the only class in your list that fills the same niche - full bab melee with pet. And he is indeed closely tied with Ranger thanks to Rage and Rage Power. And he also has a very noticeable disadvantage of being brutally feat starved.- A worse overall character than a Mad Dog who doesn't have a gimped/feat improving pet, that gets trip for free, and shares DR with the Barbarian and Rage with a feat. While the Barbarian can take the letal stance line of powers for +6 (or 5) to hit, double the stance bonus on threat confirm, and a crit multiplier to both of his weapons. With x2 rage powers to spare, one of them potentiall SR30 at level 20.
Actually Ive been consistantly polite throughout.

So Ranger could easily afford:
- Power Attack - Cleave - Cleaving Finish
- Outflank
- Shatter Defenses + Imroved Crit/Dreadful Carnage (from Menacing Style)
around level 10-12 and can take other useful things like Blind Fight, Heavy Armor or other Teamwork feats. When Mad Dog could barely fit in essentials in his 10-11 feat slots around lvl 20.
Add spells and Favored Enemy on top and Mad Dog no longer looks like auto-win.
You forgot one key thing. Not all classes share the ranger's unique spells.Actually Ive been consistantly polite throughout.
So just for my own summary: Ranger is the most powerful class in the game beacuse it is greater than the sum of its parts - that I have yet to discover. It is not:
- A worse buffed archer than Eldritch Archer.
- A worse buffed melee fighte than Sword Saint - with perfect critical, perfect strike, and weapon mastery for maximised +2 Crit multipler critcals.
- A worse archer and melee fighter than a fighter with its +8/6 dam against all enemies with weapon specialization and +4/3 with COTW and advanced fighter feats. For a potential total of 12/9 with bonuses applying to archery/melee or visa versa. And all of its feats.
- A worse damage dealer than Slayer who has +5 dam against all enemies and 5D6 sneak for a min of 10 dam against all enemies when flanking.
- A worse overall character than a Mad Dog who doesn't have a gimped/feat improving pet, that gets trip for free, and shares DR with the Barbarian and Rage with a feat. While the Barbarian can take the letal stance line of powers for +6 (or 5) to hit, double the stance bonus on threat confirm, and a crit multiplier to both of his weapons. Ranger is just "da shit". None of its shortcomings at higher levels matter, because of (TM) stuff that I will learn as I put more hours into the game. What can I say? I look forward to enduring a shit class and in enduring grow strong...
My biggest issue with Mad Dog is more about multi-classing. Since I really love 3 levels of Sacred Huntmaster for the pet focused builds and this dip works better with Ranger than with Mad Dog, who loses Best Rage version, Tireless Rage and does not have enough feats to share all good Teamworks. While ranger mostly loses last Favored Enemy (ok-ish), Master Hunter (trash) and Improves Quarry(pretty good).Mad Dog’s an interesting case. A lot of talk about them when the game came out but not much since. Seems like you’re sort of asking for trouble losing Uncanny Dodge and having to be in the thick of combat all the time to trigger your (not that great once the big numbers start showing up) special ability without any of the tools that help other melee toons survive in close quarters.

There's a Witch.Any PURE arcane caster companion for WotR? I play 99% of the time as a arcane caster BUT for people who don't enjoy playing as a arcane caster, having a pure arcane caster instead of a specialized multiclassed wiz would be cool.
I wonder if Mounted Combat in WotR would make them any better.Mad Dog’s an interesting case. A lot of talk about them when the game came out but not much since. Probably not really, based on what I've seen, but conceptually I like the idea of a Mad Dog riding an Elk or a Mammoth.
FACT ekundayos dog can keep liches, dragons and wild hunt perma locked CCd. Basically better then a monk or fighter in disabling opponents. It also has plenty of AC and HP.
Yes the heckin doggerino is THIS powerful. It probably fucks valerie if the player chooses to romance her and basically you are a cuck if you play a monk or any other martial character.
The mutt is the hero of the story.
Fake news. This is what Pet users will have you think. But little do they know. They are useless without their pets. Take that away from them, and they're poo poo heads. The chad monk implodes enemies with his bare fists. The cucked pet user has to call to their pets, issue a command, and hope they listen.FACT ekundayos dog can keep liches, dragons and wild hunt perma locked CCd. I heard Jaethal and Valerie loves people who can punch enemies to death. The chad monk player gets best undead wife AND Valerie. What! So much win!Yes the heckin doggerino is THIS powerful. There is always Octavia. I heard that lady has quite a preference for all sorts of cucks. Even for those who were... helplessly outperformed by doggy on the battlefield.
I have just found this video inside the press kit. The date is 30/04 so, I am not sure it was posted here. Anyway:
