The Other Conclusion to Arueshale's Questline is one of the based things this game hides at it's tail-end.

So, I have spent several hours thinking and creating the character, and then half an hour running around the market square in Kenabres before Deskari arrival.

First, the UI of the game is amazing. If all the information presented on spell cards, in descriptions and so on is correct (meaning - matches what actually happens in-game) then I do not need to go to D20 in 5/6 of cases. Huge improvement compared with Kingmaker.

Second; how many of game critics know that all the companions from Kenabres are present on the market square, and every one of them has a unique phrase? Not common phrases for all the "citizens", "nobles" and "guards", but something personal. And quite interesting to boot. Also, Horgus Gwerm, Aravashnial and, for sure, two main protectors of the city are there as well.

Third, the figure of Anevia looks like a man. Not the portrait, her 3D model. Full stop.

Fourth, the halfling who gives the crossbow - that crossbow which wounds Deskari - is the same person who brought the main hero into the city. He says that. The game very heavily hints that there is something fishy going on.

So, I don't know about those who peruse Tolstoy, Faulkner, and Dreiser, but for me just this small part of the game is very nice indeed. There is something to uncover, and I do want to uncover it. Meaning for me writing is pretty good.

Surely, I will not write half a screen of words for every 30 minutes of gameplay, but after the 2nd beta I am positively shocked how Owlcat Games improved even this first scene. And my trust in the opinions of local... "influencers"... is rapidly decreasing to zero.

Seems so, i did it with a full crusader build, no brainer just buff up for 24H and melee. Caster you can still put spells on auto but limited choices, the lich specific spells are good but cant see any reason to use anything else.

Dunno man, Ember and Daeran was one shotting demon lords with hell fire ray at the end. Maximezed and empowered spells really hurt. And Nenio is always useful with illusion and conjuration spells.
Spell resistance mattered only early stages of game Lann and any other ranged character carries that part.

What difficulty were you on?

Everyone says that wizards are OP, but this game seems way easier in melee. In fact, most CRPG's are.
It's a bullshit from people who are frequently resting, reloading, and know how would that combat looks like.
In this game you frequently have spell resistance 19.

This is the infamous developers spend 2 months on that scene, 1 month on Act 4.

My core playthrough seems to be going 10x smoother than my original normal playthrough (was curious how close normal would be to original AP difficulty, always intended to do a more "proper" run later).

Really not sure whether Owlcat have nerfed some stats across the board, or I'm just subconsciously playing a lot more optimally than playthrough 1.

I start chapter 3 and immediately my army's 200 footmen have disappeared. Only the archers, hellknights and shieldbearers are remaining. What gives??

Also, how am I supposed to build buildings in Drezen?

Spell resistance is not an issue, or it is only an issue early game. And even then your main control spell (grease) doesn't even require a spell res check. Between spell pen feats, elf racials, mythic spell pen, and a lot of mythic path related abilities that give you extra way of going over spell res, spell res is just not an issue. Not to mention the game gives you access to a lot of spell pen gear at vendors (a robe in A2, googles and 2 rings in A3), that's + 7 only from vendor gear. You should try and actually play a caster instead of just repeating reddit circlejerks. And yeah surprise surprise, for your caster to do something, you need to buy him gear.
The main hard thing casters have to deal with are immunities and wizard are well equipped to deal with that since they can change their spell list with a rest.

Did you get an unit-upgrade event? The one where you chose what unit you want to make. After that event all your troops of a given category will be converted into the better one. The new squads will be less numerous, since the conversion isn't 1:1.

Also, how am I supposed to build buildings in Drezen?

Use your table to manage crusade and click on the town, then "manage town" or something.

your footmen "evolve", in your case in shieldbearers apparently
it's one of the council decisions

Great. I wish the game had somehow informed me that listening to the great military thinkers on my council would cripple my army's damage output.

When you select an army which is in position to exchange units with another one, the "Exchange" button appears next to every army garrisoning a settlement, even if it can't exchange units.

iSvmdty.jpg

Crusader Army IV can exchange units with Chief Ageboya, so selecting either of those two will display the button with two arrows, but it will also be displayed next to Crusader Army V, which can't really exchange units. Clicking the button next to Crusader Army V will instead open the interface to exchange units between Crusader Army IV and Chief Ageboya.

Also, I was able to open Crusader Army V's interface, drag a unit and drop it outside the window. Somehow this unit showed up in my "Reinforcements" army, which is some movement points away from Drezen, where the source army (Crusader Army V) resides :D

For military events, right click on the purple highlighted part, then right click again on the troop type in the new popup to see what you get if you take that option. It's...needlessly obscure, tbh.
No, I think this happened as a consequence of the conversation I had in the first military council and going with Regill's advice. That it would take away my footmen was a complete surprise.

Yeah, what I'm doing now is blast with the general and archers while keeping the archers surrounded by shieldbearers and hellknights. BTW how do I split a unit in two parts? Shift + drag?

I hope the next game is shorter with a more down-to-earth setting. These epic stories are starting to get tiresome. When you blast through demon lords and the likes like a hot knife through butter repeatedly, it sort of losses its heroic appeal. Late game third edition is also too bloated for my tastes. The incrementing of my BAB, AC, saving throws and spell DC entertains me only for so long, it doesn't carry a game by itself. The story starts out good but the tension of being overrun by a demonic hoard doesn't work if you gut them by the dozens without breaking a sweat. And the hole, youre gonna die if you do nothing against the rift, also doesn't work. It's easily ignored, only the scripted sequences remind you of its existence. I liked it quite a bit at the beginning but like the first game it overstays its welcome. Still a recommendation if you liked BG1/2, NWN1/2 and the first game. But it does little to improve on them, except for "character-build-porn". Also not recommended if you are a completionist but hate memory style puzzles, in that case you might want to skip The Enigma location/Nenio companion quest.

Does picking mythic powers for the first time, after Gray Garrison, lock you out from the other paths further on?
The first trickster power (mirror image) seem to complement my tank the most, but I might not necessarily want to align myself with the trickster faction.

It's so simple, I explained this to streamer, even when I didn't play the game.
