I'm still to be won over by the Persona games. I loved certain things about 3, the atmosphere & music were brilliant, but the whole series seems really sluggishly paced.

I've just started Persona 5 and 3 hours in it still feels like the game is playing itself really, but that said it's also thrown out a few more hooks to keep me playing too. Nice to see Igor & co introduced so early.

Be interesting to see ho it progresses. I can appriciate the hard on for the style etc. but that's not really something which hooks me, so gameplay & story will be key here.

Is there a certain hour mark when folk think the game settles, and you'll know whether you like it or can't be arsed?

Fist 10h are basically a tutorial. Above that range you can decide if you like the game or not.

Persona 5 is especially heavy handed with the training wheels; the cat decides what you're doing and when you're going to bed for a decent chunk of the first bit of the game. It's a common complaint, but it does stop past a certain point and the game actually lets you do what you want past that point.

Royal sales below expectations according to Sega. Good riddance.

It's somewhat deserved with how little Royal changes the game. I was really excited about Kasumi until I found out that she doesn't come in until the bolted on content that comes after the final boss

Didn't Royal fix all that shit?

Royal barely changes anything about the original game. Just adds some new confidants. Almost everything it adds comes after the final boss in the original version which isn't a ton of content from what I hear.

I started thinking about this game again and the number one thing I hope we get out of the western release of P5R is a better translation. I think P5 is possibly the best jrpg ever made but I'm twitching with rage thinking about going through another 100+ hours of hearing the word "prolly" from every single character in the game. I don't think a single line of dialogue has the word "probably" in it. Whoever is responsible for that should be shot.

The number one change this game needs is a SHORT AND TO THE POINT DIALOGUE edition.

A skip tutorial option would be not bad either.

And to top it all off, the option "ditch this shit and start NOCTURNE" on the main menu.

That's because the original Catherine is the only game that doesn't run on one of their in-house engines.

Looks like P5R is getting some censorship for the western release. Fucking faggots and SJWs ruin everything I swear to God. Gas chambers when?

What a stupid fucking move. Persona 5 sold well but the localization team is changing some stuff because a handful of people made some noise a couple years ago on Twitter and ResetEra.

I thought part of the reason people liked Altus USA was because they didn't do this kind of shit.

According to a different article I read the translators were begging Atlus JP really hard to let them change it too and Atlus JP was very resistant to changing it. It's no surprise that the same translators who filled the game with nu-male speak like the word "prolly" are SJW losers

What happened to Atlus? Something tells me they're still going to complain about no gay social links

This won't appease the handful of people bitching on ResetEra anyways. The Japanese side needs to bend to their will for them to be "happy", and maybe even then it's a situation of maybe later they'll think about buying something from them...or so they'll say anyways. It's a moronic lose lose move from the Atlus localization team because they're never going to make Reset happy, (they aren't even in a position to for some of them) and they're only going to make others unhappy.

That story did say some of the localization team asked to change stuff too, but that's when you tell them that isn't their fucking job.
