Upcoming mod will fix stuff not meshing with each other but little can be done about the art style.

Is it possible that you can persuade the team to revert to a PC-friendly UI as a hardcore option?

No. That is amount of work that is beyond 1-2 unpaid people that does not guarantee a better result. They spend their limited time on things that will give most useful result.

I got a bit scared when you said that the author comes up with a new feature every week. How confident are you that this mod will improve on the base game?
Nothing will make everyone love everything. All additions in my opinion improve upon the base game, some make it more difficult. But even when it is released it is not done. Then they will read feedback and make adjustments based upon that.

Yikes, I guess it really is more hardcore than we expected. team chew through backer money, implemented a gigantic ui suitable only for the presbyopic, and now its only gollop whipping his college interns to a lather before they have to wake up for classes the next day.

But that leaves the question of when they stopped paying you, ArchAdvertisingPlant

What are you talking about?! I am talking about moder team you retard. SG has been done with the game for a while, they even outsourced last DLC to some other studio.

Man, I have too high hopes for that modding team. I think PP was so close to being an awesome tacticool game. It's funny how even when the core gameplay is great, little details here and there can bring the whole thing down a few notches.

You probably do. While these guys don't have limits like people that worked on the game, they also got less knowledge and access to knowledge. I can certainly confirm that they wanted to do way more than what is possible atm.
Having said that I will also add that one of the latest additions we are testing will be adding a kind of reactionary evolution in the game that devs promised but never made it true.
Sometimes you just need someone with a good idea and no boss to say NO to come along.

Here is a preview of upcoming mod and some of the changes (including how the mod is going to bring reactive evolution):

I'm pretty excited to retry this again when the mod comes out. I played one campaign when it first came out on epic, stalled in the late game and never tried it again. Now with all DLCs and hopefully some kind modders to tie it together, I'm hopeful!

Avoid the air-war DLC, it just makes the game far too clunky. It's got good ideas and the gameplay is fine in and of itself, but it's not very well integrated into the campaign - small team without much Q&A I guess. I don't know if the modding team have sorted this out or not, but it's something to be aware of. The other DLCs are fine.

I'm also looking forward to giving this another go with the mod.

On the internet, writing shit posts.
Exactly this. The pitch was full of soul and years ahead of the final product.

I documented some of the changes here,

This game could have been good. I would have played it, if not for this dramatic change of direction. It had an interesting Hellgate London/XCOM vibe going on.
Yeah I remember seeing the old art and screen shots and thinking it looked great. Then I played the actual game and got really confused by the washed out cartoony look.
I blame Firaxcom.

Mod will require all DLC as everything is touched and changed.

That's what I thought. Bought them all today. Well I discovered I already had the first 3, must have come with my backer thing I guess, so just had to buy the latest 3. Hoping they integrate everything in a rational way. As the developer should have done. Gollop, damn you to hell!

Devs fucked it up by selling it in small parts instead of one expansion. Then it needs to work in any combination of bought DLC. I hope games like this stop doing this shit.
Air DLC has limited options for modding, for now it was not possible to do a complete ovarhaul so a few things were done:
1. Aircraft are now half the price to build but lose 4 carry slots. This lets you make cheap interceptors and later build modules that add 4 slots per craft.
2. Behemoth shows up a bit later so first half of January is not crazy full of missions like now (fixing pacing is one of the main goals of the mod) and it is now connected with his flyers. Before it attacked randomly and now it attacks havens his flyers succesfully do missions at.
3. Air combat is balanced a bit differently now. Basic enemy flyers show up longer but their weapons are a bit more effective vs starting defense. There are also some plans vs abusing disengage but not implemented yet.
4. At one point (connected with player actions) Behemoth goes beserk which means he no longer goes into water and starts attacking with strongest flyers.
5. They no longer attack our bases and the no longer infest half faction Havens.
6. Infested Haven now gives different rewards and it is no longer required to get rid of Behemoth.
7. And more.

Note none of this is final, it is all being tweeked and it will be changed more as more people start playing.
When mod releases it will be basically beta and mod authors will read feedback to then improve it.

the amount of people not getting the difference between X-COM and XCOM is too damn high.
we should be glad they're named differently, it makes it easier to avoid the crap one.

RELEASE DATE REVEALED

A big announcement to make. I know you've all been waiting for this for a long time and as we are heading toward beta release we are confident of the final date now.

Terror from the Void will enter Open Beta (or Early Access) stage on Friday. October 7th.

I know most of you expected that to come a week earlier and we're sorry for the delay, but this is all in the name of the greater, bug-free, good.

Meanwhile expect to hear more news about the mod and follow my streams on https://www.twitch.tv/sgtkrabco
It will be for Steam version of the game only at start. SG left intructions how people can get those mods for other versions but for now this mod team will not dabble in it while mod is still being developed.

Is there any webpage or some description of the mod?
I don't want to watch few hours of movies to learn about a mod.
