People bitch about Kingmaker loading time, PoE2 is just as bad - and it also has stuttering issue!!! Classic Obsidian standard.

Running cool as a cucumber with 10 second loading screens on my new gaming PC. You plebs should upgrade.

My computer runs recent games that should be far more demanding than deadfire with better performance

Because it's isometric? Deadfire has more advanced tech working behind the scenes than people give it credit for.

I just can't relate to the issues you guys are having. Consistent 60 fps and below 20 second loading screens on two PCs, what am I supposed to believe?

Kingmaker on the other hand has sproadic FPS drops and 30+ second loading screens on my new PC. The graphics also look dogshit in comparison.

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Grab the Codex by the pussy RPG Wokedex Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I helped put crap in Monomyth
i7 6700k and a 2080 and the game runs like shit. Always has.

In particular, the performance seems to get worse the longer the game runs.

I mean it was never going to be great. Unity engine + Obsidian is a recipe for disaster.

So you get no frame drops in Queen's Berth?

PoE 2 is unplayable without an SSD.

I remember I played through PoE 1 on a regular HDD back in the day and the loading times were so long that I could do 15-20 pushups during the time it loaded; and PoE 2 takes even longer.

You may be on to something. The only two times I had performance issues were after the game had been running for over 6 hours. Restarted my computer and it ran smoothly again.

Say I'm in Queen's Berth, where I get 55-60 FPS on average. Every minute or so it'll suddenly drop to 35 for a split-second.

Now say I'm in a tiny, chamber-like area with almost nothing going on in the background, where I get 120 FPS. Every minute or so it'll suddenly drop to 80 for a split-second.

If I cap the frame rate at 60 with RivaTuner, it still stutters. Likewise when I cap it at 30.

This on the highest settings. But guess what? The exact same thing happens on the lowest possible settings, or below 1440p.

PF:K also suffers from this problem, by the way. But not, for whatever reason, Tyranny, or basically anything other game that doesn't use Unity, including the most graphically intensive ones.

Never had problems with my 960m :M

At least during winter. My CPU would probably overheat (and throttle) If I played now

I was having terrible frame drops/stuttering after resuming my game that I left on hold for over half a year and countless patches (just before 5.0 hit) - I tried everything that was suggested that I could find on the internet to no avail. The only thing that fixed it was uninstalling and reinstalling. What I found remarkable was the frame drops would happen every 5 seconds - going from 60 to 44-45 no matter the location or even in the menu. Before my fix I tried to use a program to limit the fps to 30, being content with a stable frame rate rather than the jumps. To my surprise the stutter continued only now at 7 frames - roughly half from before, every increment I decreased so did the stutter, till eventually for purely comedic/scientific reasons I capped the frame rate to 1 and witnessed a frame drop to something between 0-0.9 - though as you can imagine it was basically a slideshow from hell at that point so it was hard to make out. Unity is one hell of a thing. Unity in the hands of Obsidian is just pure fuck. Luckily I haven't had any major problems since then.

I am watching one of the Ultimate streams and just noticed, there is re-targeting for spells in RTwP, I am not sure you can re-target in TB because how the turns work.

Why not cap to 40 or 45 instead?

Whatever I capped it to the stuttering stayed the same, no matter the location or even in the menu it would stutter consistently every 4 or 5 seconds. It was too consistent to be frame drops from rendering what was on the screen and it was too slow to be classified as micro-stutter. I've never seen anything else like it.
