playing PK atm after more than a year and everything's faster; initial title menu loading of the game used to take at least 30 secs for me, now its 5 secs. Besides adding functionality to bypass loadings around capital city and kingdom management screens, Owlcat apparently added no loading in-door/out-door transitions which Obsidian said Deadfire was going to have before release; its fully functional in PK

I taketh back. I forgot about saving game time gradually getting worse and worse and unbearable and its just as bad as it was 1-1.5 years ago, way worse then Deadfire, makes me not wanna fire up the game. Hope they are doing something about it for WotR.

I can't understand Infinity engine successors Pillars and PFKM are unbearably less performant. I loaded Batman Arkham Knight. Game is running this huge city with ease. I can't comprehend why Pillars and Kingmaker aren't lightning fast to load.

In Pillars's case, it was Obsidian not knowing about subscenes, ie basic Unity programming.

All you've got to do is keep your saves and portraits under a hundred or so.

I had the same problem, you can try this https://www.nexusmods.com/pathfinderkingmaker/mods/39?tab=description
However it probably won't work unless you start a new game (and even so I still wouldn't play P:K again, damn game bugged my ending slides and I got the law kingdom even though I supported the bandits every time, I'm still mad that's why I'm ranting here)

The real reason I came back to this thread was ask one and only one question though: Pillars of Eternity 3 when?

Yeah I've been using that from the start but it seems it doesn't work automatically, requires to teleport to "heaviest scenes" and delete shit(dead enemies etc), too much bother and might corrupt the save files so...

Really? I remember the first time I reached the Pitax palace and the game became basically unplayable, then I installed this and when around around teleporting and cleaning loot but it didn't work at all. Then many months later I started a new game with this and worked like a charm without needing to do anything (and then many months later I decided to play again and worked just as good, except the ending slides got bugged but I think that's a problem with Owlcat not the mod and fuck you Owlcat give me my robber baron ending)

Maybe I'm playing the game wrong(with this mod) :P The loot window when leaving maps which has the "clean" button doesn't show up cos I loot everything myself /I don't trust the game with my loot

It sold less because of terrible user experience and obnoxious pop-ups. There. Now he can make Pillars 3.

I'd be ok with a POE 3 not directed by Josh.. he was barely involved in best parts of Deadfire anyway. He also wasn't really listening to any of the constructive criticism during beta whilst making questionable design decisions

As we have discussed numerous times, the worst hit was PoE being less than stellar, and then PoE2 not being able to compensate enough to get word of mouth going. But yeah, it has less to do with 2's quality (although that still counts) and more to do with 1's base game. If he really wants to get the nitty-gritty, he should read our threads about the subject.

If they decide to go ahead with developing a POE successor, hope they explore more of this occult or horror angle possible with Skaen, I did get some horror vibes at times in some of their sidequests (actually POE 1 with its Dyrwood sidequest and POE 2 with exploring the Old City)

So there is the tie to PoE1 but more importantly in my mind is the lack of a compelling narrative hook that you can create an effective advertising campaign around. This is directly connected to it being a direct sequel to PoE1 but it is a partly separate issue from reputational contamination.

Looking at him, I get the feeling he would rather die a lonely miserable misunderstood game designer, shielding himself behind statements like "that's something 3% of the playerbase cares about", rather than engage in a serious discussion with the codex.

I don't think his German ancestry will allow him to make fun games anyhow.
