Stop taking any criticism directed at the game/Sawyer personally, it's getting unnerving.

Do you accuse everyone of White Knighting when they disagree with you?

Also, the IE games were only tactical if you flat out limited yourself from employing the most effective strategies or exploiting its multiple exploitable game systems. Played straight up, you can employ a handful of strategies with little tactical thought to great success in the IE games.

Why is it it mediocre, though? Consider that all this time Sawyer has been accused of "killing fun", but it turns out he created a system that allows you to create all sorts of cool archetypes, which is probably the primary element of "fun" in these sorts of games.
Character systems rarely dictate how the combat feels/plays out mechanically. I'd argue that it's more determined by technical stuff (i.e. movement speed, visibility in combat, etc.).

Also, you're underestimating how many people place a premium on simulation/immersion. The foremost complaint about the PoE attribute system to this day still is that it's not very realistic. The late 90's isometric RPG's also didn't really have much in the way of in-depth character building.

Maybe they thought combat could be improved by making the act of killing trash mobs more cinematic.

But yeah, depth of field is the worst effect known to man. I fear for a future where games won't even offer an option to disable it.

So apparently this is the explanation:
I'm pretty sure that is the "you are fatigued" effect.
The blurriness is there to indicate that you're fatigued, I guess? Or maybe it has to do with the 'no sleep for the Watcher' thing that is supposed to be some kind of condition the main character has. Pretty silly though.

Sensuki Do I remember some ~weeks old posts correctly, and are OE only doing pain-tovers on a minority/minimum of backgrounds?

Yeah Sean Dunny said that they did not do much paint over because the 3D lighting stuff limits what they can do with a paint over and they don't have many artists on the project.

I'm not sure if we've actually even seen anything with a paintover. In a KS update they said the machine in the Skaen Temple was painted on - which may or may not be the case, as when you load the image file with that tile, there is no machine, so it might be a 3D object, or an animation.

Eeeeeh, well at least there is an explanation for that from a game mechanic point of view, and it is not just there for a the sake of "nextgencinematic". But I'd rather play without it. Fatitgue should be presented with a yawn and a status effecticon, just like in the IE games. No need to fuck up the visuals.

Today we have some information and screen shots on Raedric's Hold for you all!

The Raedric line has held dominion over the lands surrounding Gilded Vale for generations, and its formidable keep stands as a bulwark against the dangers of the Dyrwood. Despite their lofty position as Aedyran nobility, the Raedrics joined in the fighting for independence from the Empire during the War of Defiance. In the wake of the Dyrwood's victory, they retained both their stronghold and their stature. Raedric VII now carries the title of Thayn, pledged to Gilded Vale's defense against all threats - both physical and spiritual in nature. Raedric's iron-fisted rule has seen his people through many hardships, but in the aftermath of the Saint's War, new threats have arisen - threats Raedric has sworn to scour from his lands and reclaim some of Gilded Vale's past glory. At his invitation, new settlers have braved long distances to settle within Gilded Vale, tempted by the offer of land and opportunity.

The stained glass looks amazing. I wonder how it interacts with the lighting system.

The raedric castle outside looks akward to me, happened the same with the stream when they showed it. Textures look too ¿clean? smooth? i don't. Still love it, specially on the inside, and those vitro.
