Bunch of grogs nodding their heads at that deadly dangers of retro revival slide. Particularly "updating too much" and "missing the soul."

Well, I think the talk is over. Now for our interview. We'll see what pops up on the web about this later on.

I wonder if the IE Mod made an appearance.

Here's a really terrible shot:

How long was the interview, how is the transcribing going? I'd like to help transcribing if it's going to take too long (longer than tomorrow).

Sawyer considers Yxunomei challenging? I enjoyed that encounter, but challenging isn't how I'd describe it.

Josh's take away regarding systems with my bolding:

Easier to pick up than AD&D 2nd Ed., but lost some of the tactical
complexity
, combat became too fast with 5+ party members,
stronghold was disappointing.
• Lesson: Some rough edges are fun, don't overcorrect (easier said than
done), allow for modding if possible, pay attention to why people
liked things (e.g. strongholds).
• Future: Carefully add back layers of complexity, find a better combat
pace, use more accessible file formats, focus on stronghold content and
integration.

PoE2 will also have more Bioware-silly characters, since they noted complaints that Pillars was way too serious.

And a shout out to Sensuki:

The vocal minority sometimes has
a point… but reach out to your
broader audience.
...
Lesson: Betas and Early Access are a fantastic way to get feedback
from your most passionate players -- but remember that they're
passionate!

My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.

Thanks for posting this. I liked some of his takeaways, honestly... not sure 'silly' characters are necessary, but I would have liked more variance in tone in both characters and world than what we got, and I thought he did a good job of identifying a number of other issues with the first game. Also noted the Sensuki-specific slides!

The silly characters were absolute necessary on this game considering that everyone in PoE seems to have not a single happy\funny moment in his entire life.

The game desperately need folks like Dandelion, Zoltan (Witcher), Kalhid, Minsc (Baldur's Gate), etc..... and not only as party members but as NPCs too
