Arkane PREY - Arkane's immersive coffee cup transformation sim - now with Mooncrash roguelike mode DLC

That mod looks like a total mixed bag. Saving changes are BASED, as are the solar storms, but then there's dumb bullshit like repeatable bounty quests and a bunch of new useless weapons.

If this mod was JUST the alternate dimension stuff, the save system, and the solar storms, plus some of the changes from the PREY Corebalance mod, it would be kino. Right now it's just kinda meh.

Also, it's "HARDCORE" but doesn't fix some of the more glaring exploits in the game (like infinite health/psi from water fountains).

LOL @ the people in the comments on that tweet praising Deathloop.

Deathloop was just a vastly inferior version of Mooncrash, stretched out over way too many hours, with atrocious writing.

Deathloop was the beginning of the end for Arkane...

Deathloop is only $10 right now (since I own Ghostwire) and I still can't bring myself to pull the trigger. Arkane wasn't perfect but the post-Prey employee upheaval totaled them. Here's hoping WolfEye's next game is bigger and better :shittydog:

The worst thing about Prey was the enemy variety, there's only 1 enemy type and only ONE with different sizes and no amount of fixes is going to change that. I should add the balance also sucks since the shotgun clearly outperforms everything else, thus making them useless the second you have the shotgun.

Therefore, game is mediocre.

Are you a bot?
"Enemy variety sucks" = game is bad
"Shotgun deals more damage therefore all the others are useless" = game outright unplayable
Nothing about gameplay, mechanics, creativity no, nothing.
4chan is that way....just now they made a circle jerking group therapy thread for faggots to console themselves for getting filtered by the game. Think you'll fit right in.
Also bots generally get updated over time with new data, algorithms and all that. You.... you're just deprecated.

Because there's nothing to say about any of these, it's done better in other games.
Get updated bot. You're behind your programming.
What does it do that no other game does?

Crafting? Already done in many other games

Elements reactivity? Already done in other games

Powers? Already done

Immersion into a space station? Already done

Metroidvania level-design? already done

The game is a big déjà-vu.

Prey and Mooncrash were good fun. I never thought Id ever get to see a dungeon crawl through a decently designed space station again after System Shock. Nor many imsims. Prey was too easy but scratched the itch on hardest difficulty - Id go another no trouble at all. Which, as others are stating, we likely wont get.

Arkane was legendary once and Prey was probably their last stand.

It does things that other immersive sims have done which sounds good to me, means the game has standards and it's good.
How about the gloo gun? How about scanning aliens to learn their abilities? How about mimicking objects to hide or get into places?
What's the point of this? If it does what other games have done that means the game is bad? This has to be troll speak.

I don't know how anyone could not enjoy the first half of Prey. That part is a phenomenal love letter to the System Shock formula. It's only in the second half that it unfortunately turns to shit, because you become way too powerful, the game stops throwing anything new at you, and all it has to offer is endless backtracking and Steve Blum's sudden robot invasion.

To be fair, it's more like the last third (maybe even quarter?) of the game.

But yeah, that whole final part was pretty weak.

Good, level scaling sucks.

Meh.
endless backtracking
Yeah, that has pros and cons.
sudden robot invasion
That's cool and you can abuse that by having them fight other enemies, mimic them, control them, turn them into your allies, bring your phantom army with you etc.
Or you can just you know, block the spawn points. But that's just rodent mentality if you ask me.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
ok so now i played mooncrash and it;s very overrated. the whole roguelite-like genre is overrated and i really have passionate dislike towards them.

mooncrash is probably the few i gonna finish but man it can be tedious. the whole idea is good on paper, but you're mostly grinding for neuromods to earn more perks and points. after you get strong enough and unlock characters it did get interesting and versatile, but it still have the same rogue problem that bad rng can ruin a run. i am also not fan of the time limit. up to level 5 is fine, fun actually but after that they just insta kill you. after that you can craft the timeloop saver then mostly the time limit became an annoyance because you're just addimg more to the list of chores you're doing.

You don't really need a ton of abilities or items, the way to play moon crash is to figure out the areas and then semi-speedrun it. It's only the last 1 or 2 characters who will need to kill more than a few enemies

People whining about Enemy Variety, well, they're just annoyed that the enemies look the same. The different enemies actually require different tactics and approaches.
