Cool game. Unlimited agility. Tone is perfect. Monsters, I think they could be a bit more interesting, graphically and mechanically.

Checkpoint mechanic is stupid, one of the stupidest I ever seen. But the game is balanced around restarting the level, which is what I'm doing for the second playthrough and having lots of fun. Still it would be nice to have a checkpoint system in ultra hard for a first playthrough that resets the state from that checkpoint onwards. I really don't understand what they were thinking with this.

Chaingun is stupid. It's fun to use but on ultra hard is useless. It deals, all thing considered, way less damage than the shredders and it has very low accuracy and it slows you down. I think the weapon should be reworked.

Overall I prefer a game like doom eternal because of the more elaborate combat mechanics and much more interesting variety in environment but this is a polished throwback with unlimited speed, less on rails level design, and a more consistent tone than eternal. Music is awesome

Does this game have the horrible, completely obtuse "puzzles" that plagued Raven Soft games? Hexen II and Jedi Outcast in particular.
I've finished the early access and I didn't find any.

The only puzzles in the game are related to secrets, and even then they are nowhere near some of the more tardo ones of Jedi Outcast. When it comes to regular progress through the levels "puzzles" don't get more elaborate than shooting big shiny buttons somewhere on the walls.

Dynamic crosshair not your thing? Don't worry, we have some options to disable this content and swap out for a more static version, that can be also scaled up or down in size. The new static options are DOT, CROSS, and CIRCLE.

Workshop Updates:

New filters allow users to find Staff Picks and Contest Winners. Staff picks are hand picked levels that reach a high quality bar. Excellence in gameplay and visuals is a factor.

To find staff picks in your browser, simply look in the bottom right corner of any thumbnail for a glowing medal. This indicates that our team has vetted the level and consider it of good quality.

You can now easily find any Contest Winner with our brand new filter. Speaking of which, be sure to check out the top 3 winners from our previous challenge. The True Addiction, Thermal, and Transit.

Graphic Options

Some new graphics settings should help players with lower end PC's to boost their frame rate. Check them out in the Graphics tab towards the bottom.

Mapcore X Prodeus

Judges

- General Vivi
- Dragonfly
- FMPONE
- ICARUSLIV3S

The Prodeus community would like to thank FMPONE and ICARUSLIV3S for helping us judge this competition. It was very difficult judging the entries this time around and we were glad they could join us on this noble quest!

only played through the 3rd place winner so far but it's pretty good.. the level editor in this game is fantastic and the amount of maps already available is good.. custom maps alone is worth buying the game in early access imo.. nice way to enjoy the game while still waiting for full release to play the campaign

This game has all the good stuff on paper but when you sit down to play it, it's so dull, soulless and just BLAND and unfun, it's crazy.

The puzzles were great. Be gone scrub.

(obviously no modern game would dare have anything like that, retro or not).

Diablo1_reborn why do you not want them to actually add promised content to the game and finish it? the game has coasted on community mappers since its launch in EA. NOTHING SUBSTANTIAL HAS BEEN ADDED.

I don't think that coop is waste of dev time. I always wanted to coop this game with a buddy of mine, so this is a nice feature to have.

I wouldn't dismiss coop right yet. It's true that it will take dev time away from other hypothetical features, but the more interesting way to look at it is that it'll attract more players into the game. More players = more community made maps, and that's going to be the real meat and potatoes for the game. Also this is going to open up a whole new pandora's box of maps designed for coop in mind.

I, and many others, don't give a shit about co-op. It should have been something they added at launch when they finished up their content. If they are going to create maps designed for co-op from now on then the game is absolutely decline.

Yeah. I like Wolf 09 and consider it the only worthwhile/playable singleplayer FPS from like 2007-16 (or something like that), but I am under no illusion it is great. It is no classic.
