Oh, cool. Looking forward to that, then. I don't give money to Kickstarters anymore but hey, it looks decent.

I have to say, Legend of Dragoon's battle system was gimmicky as fuck, but damned if it didn't feel good landing a perfect combo on a tough boss to that soundtrack.

It's a childhood nostalgia thing as well, but I loved the corny Engrish when they shout out their combos.

DOUBLE SLASH. TYPHOON. WHIP SMACK. GUST OF WIND ... DANCE. MADNESS HeeEERO.

It had charm. Sound design was ace graphics were great, and story was... there. I'll be damned if the alien dragoon shit wasn't hype as hell though.

VOLCANO. That said, Albert was fucking awful. I could never pull off his additions. His timing was way too erratic for me, compared to Lavitz. I guess that only enhanced how much I missed Lavitz when, you know..

Oh yeah Lavitz was great. Not only as a burly VA but a cool character with fun moves.

Having a king on your side was cool though, RIP Lavitz.

Cute spell-crafting Mystery Dungeon-like A Magical High School Girl got a demo on Steam (I've played few floors. Feels like a cute little fun game):

i used to have a friend who actually leveled up to lv. 99 in LEGEND OF LEGAIA just to unlock/fight the hidden boss and get true ending.

to put that in context even with massive grinding normal LoL party's reach the norma final boss at aronud lv. 40. I miss that guy... i wonder what he's up to nowadays.

Oh, cool. With a PC simultaneous release too. I always thought the character creation was too complicated for a simple action roguelite but the earlier games were fun enough. Here's hoping they port the release better than the last Cladun game.

Cladun series is a hidden gem. It's got a ton of deep mechanics behind the character progression and the random dungeons. Combat is dead simple for the most part but it has some cool special abilities/magick too, which is really only worth using for some bosses.

Eh, I looked at Japanese Amazon reviews of Sengoku!, looks like it's very buggy, unbalanced (too easy), and hated by series fans. Apparently it's not developed by the studio of previous games.

I guess at least bugs can be squashed before Western release, but if gameplay is shit, well.

It looks like dynasty tactics(the actual pre empires dynasty warriors strategy games which were much better then the empires abominations).
Still no new kessen game though.

Is this a way for the developers to hedge against lackluster sales of the Vita and PS4 in Japan, at least for their non-phone games?

President of Nippon Ichi said exactly that in a Famitsu interview early this year.

crappy translation said:
Although console games are of course central to us, we should maximize products born out of there. If you look at outside of consoles and think about worldwide release, inevitably there is Steam. We don't plan to make Steam-only games, but I think it's possible to release games there almost simultaneously.

[...]

If you look at the [Japanese] game industry as a whole, there's no doubt the market for console games is shrinking. I think it certainly would be tough if you don't maximize new IPs created in console market by expanding them to other platforms like Steam or smartphone.
