Did they switch between squared and hexes in the series? I noticed hexes in one scene in the video too, but on a second look, they were just cosmetic and it's a standard square grid.

Yeah, in the fourth game it looks like a square grid with using hex shapes to represent some sort of area of effect. (Look at 0:48)

I played it. Typical machine translation, silly game idea reliant on on taking over enemies and certain areas, pretty grindy.

Haven't played much of it though, wouldn't be able to tell you more than an impression.

Just a reminder that SMT FINAL / Apocalypse and 7th Dragon III Code: VFD are supposed to have their euro releases next friday. I'm ready for some more SMTing, but still unsure about 7th Dragon. I heard that being easy as shit is a feature and that it's intended as an entry RPG.

Teasing Ghost is teasing (again): http://blog.ghostlight.uk.com/post/the-neo-awards-2016

In other news, we’re still very hard at work on several PC ports for another publisher. I’ve been busy looking through some of the feedback from our partner. Obviously working so hard on these games has meant that we haven’t been in a position to work on our own releases, but I’ve been told that we’re now very close to signing a very interesting looking JRPG to port to PC. Both Al and I are big fans of this one and we’re looking forward to telling you all about it once all the paperwork is dealt with.

So, stay tuned for more news coming on that sometime in early 2017. :)

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is. Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
The Alliance Alive launches March 30 in Japan. I hope it gets localized, eventually. Legend of Legacy had some issues but it was mostly fun.

In other news, Best Buy had Dragon Quest Heroes II listed for PS4. I wonder if it will be announced at the upcoming PlayStation event.

Final Fantasy 30th anniversary (2017) rumor: http://vgleaks.com/final-fantasy-30th-anniversary-roadmap/

Final Fantasy XV has been finally released. Through thick and thin, FF XV is after all a great game with epic moments that contains the essence of the saga. It’s not perfect, but in overall is a recommended experience.

2017 will be the 30th anniversary for Final Fantasy and Square Enix will celebrate the milestone with the following items:

Final Fantasy releases in 2017 to celebrate the anniversary: Square will launch Final Fantasy VII Remake (first episode) and Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age as main games to celebrate the Final Fantasy’s birthday.

Final Fantasy XIII trilogy is coming to PS4 during the next year. The bundle will include Final Fantasy XIII, XIII-2 and Lightning Returns on separate discs to be enjoined in 1080p and 60fps.

Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Collection.
This compilation will include Final Fantasy I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII and IX and it will be released on PS4 and PS Vita in a single disc/card. It will include two versions of Final Fantasy I to VI: original versions from NES/SNES and modern ports (mostly mobile ports). FF VII to XI will be based only in newest ports. Final Fantasy II and III from NES will receive an official English translation (first time). Games will be based on Japanese versions, therefore we will be able to play parts that were cut out when games were released overseas. Graphical censorship included in some titles when they were released outside Japan will remain. The collection will have a built-in art gallery and a sound test menu to play songs from games included.

Just for the record: this compilation will include just main Final Fantasy titles (I to IX).

There will be three versions for the Final Fantasy collection:

1. Regular version: games and poster.

2. Collector’s Edition: Games, poster, art book, 8-bit Black Mage keychain, Chocobo plush and two discs with a selection of songs chosen by Nobuo Uematsu.

3. Crystal Complete Edition. It will be only available in limited quantities in the Square Enix’s website for PS4. Crystal Complete Edition will include:

Games: Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Collection titles (FF I to IX), Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy, Final Fantasy XV (and all DLC), Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (including all expansions + a 3 month subscription). Special items for Final Fantasy XI Mobile and Final Fantasy XIV will be included as well.

Physical items: all the content included in the Collector’s Edition, two extra discs for the soundtrack, a crystal necklace, a Moogle plush, a Black Mage statue, all three Final Fantasy Trading Card Game starter decks, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV and Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV. Everything will be packed in a luxury chest decorated with the Final Fantasy logo.

Just to clarify: these plans just apply to North America, we don’t know yet about other regions.

Season Pass:
– Final Fantasy I, Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions and Chrono Trigger could be released on Steam before the end of 2017.

– Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy XV are coming to PC, but likely not until early-mid 2018.

Thanks to our source for this tasty information about Final Fantasy.

Smells clickbait-y, but FF1, 2, 12 remaster, FFT and CT for Steam sounds good (and very much expected actually).

That rumor sounds like bullshit, but a native Vita version of Final Fantasy VI would be great, especially if it's physical.

ouch, that BoF 6 mobile game really hit me in the gonads.

i am (used to be? am?) a huuuge BoF fanboi as they were the first JRPGs I loved that were not from SquareSoft, and BoF 5 was IMFO a fantastic game.

love love loved BoF 5 and think 2 and 3 are probably some of the best representations of an atypically good/great JRPG. 1 and 4 are also very good but not as good as 2 and 3, and as previously mentioned, 5 is the masterpiece in the series.

Was never much of a Wild Arms fan, and only played Arc the Lard: Twilight of the Spirits (and loved its dual protagonist story).

At this point the only thing that would really truly deliver a knockout blow to my heart would be a mobile-ized bastardized new title in the Mother series. Anything less than that I'm thankfully too stone-hearted nowadays to feel too much.

BoF 6 came close tho, as after so many years the faint hope of a true follow up to BoF 5 was still alive and kicking in my head.

After JRPG getting a better market now, in Steam of all places, I wonder why Japanese company keep bastardizing their franchise with mobile games. I mean yeah, Japanese like them, there are people wasting hundreds thousand of yen on lucky character roll, but how much revenue can you get from them anyway, considering that the most famous of the titles are not going to western shore.
