Japanese mobile developer Gianty announces open-world action RPG Goken for Steam
Gianty, the Japanese studio behind smartphone games Ayakashi Hyakki Yagyou Kiwami and Monster Drive Revolution, has announced Goken, an open-world action RPG coming to Steam this summer and set to debut at E3 2017.
In a message on the game’s official website, the developer states:
“Action RPG.” A genre that defined adventure and represented the childhood of all gamers, revived, redefined, from Japan, on Steam. Goken will bring back everything that was right about gaming in an action-packed open-world environment and have the old school gamers tremble in nostalgia. See you at E3!
At E3 2017, which runs from June 13 to 15, Gianty is expected to debut the latest information, gameplay footage, and more. Stay tuned for more updates.

Thats a straight up hentai game lmao. I mean yeah, they probably are going to remove the scenes from the game but still. On the other hand now that greenlight is going away developers are probably running to get their games green lighted asap before the system goes kapput.
XSEED Games announced today during their E3 2017 lineup reveal they'll be localizing developer Nihon Falcom's Zwei II Plus (released back in 2009) as Zwei: The Ilvard Insurrection for the west. Here are the full details from the press release:
Originally released in Japan as Zwei II Plus and developed by acclaimed RPG developer Nihon Falcom, Zwei: The Ilvard Insurrection is a charmingly presented action RPG featuring a unique food-based experience system, a colorful cast of characters, and a quirky, standalone narrative. When the haughty vampire princess Alwen du Moonbria saves the life of brash, treasure-hunting pilot Ragna Valentine in exchange for a blood contract, the unlikely duo must set off to recover Alwen’s stolen magic and usurped castle.
The game’s real-time combat is tied to a unique leveling system that allows players to choose when to apply experience toward leveling up or whether they should save it for extra perks later on, and pets can fight alongside players to help take down some of the massive bosses encountered on this lengthy adventure through the land of Ilvard. Fans of vampires, treasure-hunting, fairies, ninjas, luchadores, cat-people, vintage airplanes, magic castles, robots, chickens that lay bombs, and more will find lots to love! ©Nihon Falcom Corporation. All Rights Reserved.
Zwei: The Ilvard Insurrection will be released for Windows PC sometime this summer.
What's keeping Nintendo from making a new Advance Wars?
(Source: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-05-30-whats-keeping-nintendo-from-making-a-new-advance-wars)
It's been coming up to a decade since we last saw Advance Wars, the brilliantly characterful turn-based strategy game from Intelligent Systems, and it seems it might be a little while longer until there's a new one. We at least have some insight into why it's taking so long, though.
Speaking to Eurogamer in an interview for Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia , Nintendo's Hitoshi Yamagami - who worked as producer on three Advance Wars titles, including the last entry, 2008's Days of Ruin - said he'd be keen to return to the series. The problem, though, is how it could assimilate one of Fire Emblem's most popular features - the relationship-building that takes place on the battlefield.
"Personally, I'd love to do Advance Wars, but since it's harder to create relationships between its characters compared to Fire Emblem, I don't have a clear idea of what kind of setting it could have," Yamagami told Eurogamer.
Really, though, who doesn't want to see two MD tanks get it on in order to make a little baby MD tank?
Intelligent Systems, at least, seems just as keen to return to the series. "The Advance Wars series is one that I personally have a lot of interest in," said Masahiro Higuchi, a producer on Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia and a contributor to 2001's Advance Wars. "I hear some of the staff here saying that they want to make one too, so if we have a chance it's something I'd like to do!"
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, the 2015-announced sci-fi mecha game from Dragon’s Crown and Odin Sphere developer VanillaWare, will be released in North America and Europe, Atlus announced.
Directed by George Kamitani, the game is a departure from VanillaWare’s traditional fantasy style, taking place in a modern setting highlighted by giant mechs. While the world “may be bleak,” according to Atlus, VanillaWare’s “signature artistic shine and gorgeous aesthetics will bring the characters and story of 13 Sentinels to life.”
Two things to note about this announcement:
Visit the official website here. View a set of screenshots at the gallery.
- While 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is announced for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita in Japan, the press release from Atlus U.S.A. does not mention platforms. When asked for clarification, an Atlus representative told Gematsu it has not announced platforms. (Update 10:43 a.m.: While the official website doesn’t feature any game console logos, the bottom does read, “The ‘PS’ Family logo and the ‘PSVITA’ logo are registered trademarks. ‘PS4’ is a trademark of Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc.”)
- While the press release does not mention whether 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim will appear at E3 2017, the game was leaked as part of the Atlus / Sega lineup in April.
