Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
User score on Metacritic currently sitting at 76 (97 for journos). People say except watching cutscenes there's very little to actually do except "go to A, shoot a guy, return to camp". Apparently the main story is p. good tho.

Do you know why the gameplay of Rockstar games is still very clunky, even GTA5? Because if you dare to say it's bad to the Houser brothers you'll get fired.
Is this info based on insider accounts?

when will it be released on computer.
Next year around this time I guess.

Considering it'll be very difficult to cash in on a "remaster" when both consoles will likely be backwards compatible and every day they're not on PC while Red Dead Online is online is a day they're missing out on shark card money? I'd guesstimate sooner than a lot of people expect.
Isn't it possible to buy virtual currency for the console versions?

I say this with no sarcasm - I don't need gameplay when I have such a fun interactive movie. But I feel for the people who buy this expecting more than an interactive movie.

I've watched about 6 hours of a no-commentary LP by now and I really don't see too much in terms of game-like activities: you can collect in-game achievements for various ways to kill different wild animals. You can customize your outlook. You can play missions which involve big firefights, mostly a test for your popamole skills. I guess there are also horse races, though I haven't seen any yet. Other than that, you just experience the world and its characters, and the story. So, yeah, how much of a "game" is RDR2 really?

Typical Rockstar game after GTA 4, all show, no stuff to do that is actually fun.

You will play a few hours and be amazed by the high definition horse dong then get utterly bored because the game is on permanent easy mode, better watch on youtube and skip the irrelevant gameplay parts.

Because this is a huge game with a budget that's unparalleled, we have a pretty much empty check to describe the systems and gameplay we want for it:

What would have been a real revolution, if it had been done in RDR2, would have been to do away with the popamole gunplay altogether. Instead of having to kill 20-odd guys in a mission's shooting sequence, let me kill 3-4 but make them more intelligent, make them use cover and concealment better, and make weapons much more deadly. Add a whole system of injury treatment and healing, and suddenly the game becomes much less popamole. Also much slower paced and with much more "reload checkpoint" instances, I guess, but who seriously likes this "enemy peeks from window - you shoot - he is dead" routine repeated over and over in every gunfight?

Carrion What's fake news? TLOU had deadly weapons, with generally good AI on any of its harder difficulties, and when it wasn't glitching, smaller scaled encounters and many codexers still shitted on the game. it's not perfect mind you, but for a AAA titles it did what AwesomeButton was asking for and the sequel is doing even more of that, and codexers still shitted on it

That's what killed RDR1 for me. Way too many gunfights of no import. The guns feel decent. so it was fine for the first few hours, but after that I just wanted to do the hunts. At least cougars don't crouch behind log piles.

Why can't you hire prostitutes in 2? So far as I know, John wouldn't hire prostitutes because he was loyal to his wife. Arthur has no such restriction.

Really tired of the "Please player, I'm purposely sticking my head out for you to shoot, player. Please shoot me." type of Ai those games use, it just makes the gameplay trivial and a waste of time, but in reality, most players will just play to see the high definition horse dongs and when they bored, they will return to play Fortnite or go play the online version, by that time, Rockstar got their money already, appealing to the lowest common denominator made Rockstar tons of money anyway. Why change it?

It's not like gta 3, vice city, san andreas was any different - it's basicaly the same driving from point A to point B and finishing missions.
Arguing at this point that Rockstar games is 'drive from point to A to point B' is just silly.

The real GTA's with gameplay were 1 and 2.

There's not even a significant timing/reflexes element involved. Less so than literal whack-a-mole. But hey, a lot of people think games aren't about challenge and/or competition, which I fundamentally disagree with. And it's tainted a huge portion, if not most of video game design today.

I don't know what can be expected of this. The game is still on ps4, which uses a controller, which is an objectively inferior tool when compared to a keyboard/mouse.

It's like this since GTA 3 since 2000, so idk why anyone is surprised or expected anything else at this point? lol
True, but we're commenting on the specific type of banal combat that RDR has, which is pointless and doesn't add anything to what already was. GTA3's banality just didn't entail waiting for the mole to peak out of his hole cover.

If you're not running out of cover and doing bullet dives everywhere, you're doing it wrong. You can totally play this like Max Payne.

The problem is the RDR games take themselves way too seriously. GTA 3, VC, and SA were just playful satires of American media that were memorable for things other than gameplay. GTA 5 was the same way but they went full retard with three protagonists and the multiplayer cash cow. RDR is just an interactive Western.
