So in Bloodlines playing as a nozzie, is it normal that I can avoid getting masquerade violations from people on the sidewalk by walking in the middle of the street and not stopping? No stealth, no sewer usage. Just walking.
Yes. As long as you don't get too close (read: bump into someone) you will be fine. No real reason to use sewers as Nosferatu.

Isn't the taxi not available to Nosferatu? It's been a while since my Nosferatu playthrough but I thought the game forced you to use the sewers to go to a new region.

No.
The sewers are your only friend as a Nossie.

I don't recall having problems with the taxi as Nosferatu. That said, some locations can only be accessed via the sewers.

No, you cannot access the taxi as a Nosferatu, so the sewers are your main choice of travel.
You can only use the taxi near the end of the game during that scripted sequence.

Wow, I'm really impressed that a single mapper made something like this! I assume thet Garry's Mod is still using the Source or Source 2 engine or has it been moved to something different?
It uses Source with the model limit MAX_MAP_MODELS increased to 4096 from 1024 (it has to be adjusted at compile-time).

Implementing the character sheet requires familiarity with the Source engine but in itself is rather trivial. Skillchecks are trivial to implement then.
I don't really believe that as I can't remember a mod for HL2 that has ever done something like this.
You use associative array with integer values all the time in Python. It's called a dict.

Python:
MY_STUFF = {
    'foo': 1,
    'bar': 2,
    'dupa': "kupa",
}

It needs to be attached to each actor separately and stored for them inside the save file.

For the character sheet UI, ImGui would work. It can be styled and is the probably simplest GUI library ever to use (see links).

Try this: https://flyover.github.io/imgui-js/example/.
Source code for the newest version is at https://github.com/ocornut/imgui/blob/master/imgui_demo.cpp).

Then rendering the UI becomes trivial.

I'm not saying you or someone else do all that. But it's something that can be discussed for the indeterminate future.

it's really weird that there's no VTM MMORPG

CCP wanted to make that went they bought the licence years ago but then they needed all their people for EVE, so it never happened and they sold the IP to Paradox.

Quite a few people have said that this ReShade looks pretty good. Again, it’s not about "modernizing" the game—it’s about capturing a different feel entirely. Maybe some of you will like it.

Some afterthoughts:
Personally, I find all the modernizing attempts make the characters/elements look worse. The old, pixelated stuff carries the nostalgia and atmosphere of the original. The newer looks often feel like a half-hearted attempt—not because of a lack of skill, but because you can only do so much with a game this old. And even if you managed to create some semi-realistically looking elements, you'd still face the issue of inconsistency with the rest of the visuals / the overall atmosphere, which ends up breaking the aesthetic altogether. I believe that only a full, painstaking overhaul like what Nightdive Studios do could pull it off.
I don’t think the game needs a remake—it's great as is—but it was the same with Dead Space. It brought attention to a whole new audience. Sure, it comes with the usual drama—like the SJW or puritans vs posers discourse and all that—but it also reignites hopes for new projects and fresh content.

Nice, although I never really cared for the Borderlands look :)!

I agree. Already there are some HD mods for Bloodlines available that take too much liberty in what textures they replace and the result looks rather different to the original game.

Phyre, as in Fire, as in the one thing that all vampires hate
LaCroix, as in... Cross?
Vampires don't fear religion unless it's True Faith. :smug:

I fucking hate shortened gifs so much. They always leave out the most important part.

LaCroix is a real French surname. It's not made-up, unlike Phyre. To my mind cames the romantic painter Eugène Delacroix, the author of this famous painting.

But I guess basic history is beneath the galaxy brains at this studio.
Pretty funny considering Lacroix was embraced by a belgian noble, though he was born in Calais, France.

Being envampired by a Belgian is truly the most ignominious fate possible.
I've always found this part lame. Ventrue are proud of their lineages, even though less so than Tzimisce, and as such LaCroix wouldn't have glossed over his Sire as "a Belgian noble". He would have either skipped the subject entirelly, or at the very least given a name.

Sebastian always seemed one dimensional as a character, almost like made with the intention that players are supposed to hate him. I think he's the only character in the game made with such antagonistic intentions.

Archetypal Ventrue Kindred.

He doesn't care about some dodgy fledgling's opinion of his lineage, especially since he's constantly sending you on suicide missions to kill you indirectly.

You can literally join forces with him in one of the endings. It's the Sabbat that you can never get on your side no matter what, and Andrzej is always trying to kill you for some vague reason (maybe he just wants to diablerize you, idk).
