Like a Dragon Isshin is the intended entry point because it takes place earlier
I mean it's not very subtle with the remakes of 1 and 2, and the remasters of 3, 4, and 5. It's not an outlier, fleshing out Kiryu's backstory was as much a part of that 'modernisation' as remaking the games technically. They added a lot of new content to Kiwami that references events in 0. Does feel as though RGG intend 0 to be the series entry point with the remakes they've released.
Yakuza 1 has just as varied combat and is the correct starting point, play them in release order and have zero as a cherry on top.
Super monkey ball confirmed as most correct starting point.
Shenmue confirmed as most correct starting point.
Zero is also the best one.Yakuza 1 has just as varied combat and is the correct starting point, play them in release order and have zero as a cherry on top.
The only release order that should be considered is the one on PC, so Zero is the first one![]()

I noticed, that the Save Game function is a little bit buggy.
About once every 6th or 7th try, the game wont save, even if you pressed all the correct buttons.
You can notice this, that the phrase "Save complete" doesn't appear, although it disappears quickly anyway.
Also the date and time is saved together with the game, so you can check that.
In the first chapters, I lost some game time because of this bug, because I noticed this way too late.
Now I verify the time each time after having saved the game. So if it didn't save, I just try a second time, which normally works fine.
Only one time, I had so "save" three times, until the game finally was saved to disc.
Other than that, the game runs perfectly fine.
Still probably better as a conditional / personalised recommendation to people than just "start here".I still recommend the originals, despite buying the Kiwamis.
I know the arena fight you're referring to, and I cheesed it by letting my health get low enough that heat builds on its own, then ran around in circles until I could do a heat action, rinse and repeat.Kiwami also got weird difficulty spike, the first "legit" Majima fight in the bat center is way harder than anything the game as thrown at you so far, and will also be for quite a while. Same shit for the arena, even among the first tourney, most opponent are complete pushover until you ran into someone that destroy you with just a couple of hit.
It would be like a Hokuto no Jagi game: too crazy to handle. Majima was great in 0 but tamed compared to other games.Need a FULL Majima/Saejima game.
God, it would be so fucking good.
Majima was great in 0 but tamed compared to other games.
which may only be good in the context of yakuza 0, because he's a player character thereMajima was great in 0 but tamed compared to other games.
0 Majima is the only Majima worth considering. They fleshed out the character past his one-dimensional Kiryu obsession to a great extent.

in other games it doesn't really matter if he's one-dimensional because you don't even play as him, it's like getting heated over kashiwagi
Tbh I'd love to see more of the Majima we see in flashbacks in Yakuza 4.0 Majima is the only Majima worth considering. They fleshed out the character past his one-dimensional Kiryu obsession to a great extent.

I know, I was saying I think early Majima has enough early drama and hurt to make a story out of it / there's enough years not covered in detail to flesh something out without an absurd amount of retconning. You'll get some more stuff in Yakuza 5. His backstory is fleshed out even more.
There's a save game patch for the Steam version that isn't broken from what I could tell, that'd be easier to deal with.I am crossposting this also here, since it might help someone:
