These awards are pretty shitty. We should categorize them more to RPG standards and critiques rather than 2/3 graphics whore/audiophile bullshit. Like ya know....

Best RPG

Best Character System

Best Dialog

Best Characters

Best Combat

Best Quests

Best Single Quest

and, you know, more shit that would actually make for interesting, and non-generic awards.

I must of played KOTOR I and II each four times. Pretty fun, only killing kath hounds (the first one) and mining droids at the start gets incredibly boring second time through. And combat (even on hard) is easy. Halfway through the second one your pretty much immortal.

"ike 3 rpgs came out this year, so i guess Witcher: EE and Eschalon are allowed"

TW didn't come out this year, and it's so called speicial edition is the same fuckin' game for fuck sakes. Only morons would allow it to 'qualify'. FO3 is more deserving of the award than EE.

What eyar did Echalon came out in? If not 2008, then no it shouldn't qualify. If so, bring it on, BIATCHES.

my "ratings":
Fallout 3 ( 7.5 / 10 )
Drakensang ( 7 / 10 )
Mass Effect ( 6.5 / 10 )
NWN2: SoZ ( ??? / 10 , will play in the next days )

Game of the Year: - (have to play SoZ first, if that disappoints then FO3)
Best Visuals: Fallout 3 -> Drakensang -> Mass Effect -> SoZ
Best Sound: none of them stood out positivly or negativly OVERALL
Honorable Mention(s): -

RPGs of all time
Best RPG ever: RoA : Star Trail
Runner Up: Fallout
Third Place: Vampire: Bloodlines
Honorable Mentions: Planescape, MOTB, Ultima Underworld, Wizardry 7, Deus Ex, Morrowind, Arcanum, System Shock 2

Summary about 2008:

okay year for cRPGs. 3 came out that were all worth their money (well probably not mass effect for full price, but for 30 bucks its worth it ) and enjoyable games overall.

still each of them had more than enough issues to not be a really great cRPG that can hold up to the classics either.

wonder whether SoZ will add in as the 4th "enjoyable but too flawed" cRPG or if it ll be outstanding, will know within the next week.

compared to 2007 we had one great cRPG (MOTB) and since i m neither polish nor retarded thats it. (just kidding, i didnt HATE the witcher, it was an okay game like mass effect , no more - no less, different tastes and all that .... )

What did you expect from a thread initiated by Cloaked Figure?
Your proposition's interesting though. I would answer this.

How people have the nerve to call Volourn and myself morons, when you make a list of 'RPGs' like this, I simply cannot understand.

Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming! Torment: Tides of Numenera Wasteland 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
RPGs released in 2008 -
Game of the Year: The Witcher EE (but original game is from 2007, so I'm not sure it's ok to put it in here. If not I vote for Storm of Zehir)
Best Visuals: The Witcher EE if you are asking about art in graphic, if you are asking about bloom then I would choose Mass Effect or Fallout 3, but these are not RPGs anyway)
Best Sound: The Witcher EE (in polish version at least)
Honorable Mention: But there wasn't more RPGs in this year, what are you talking about?

RPGs of all time -
Best RPG ever: The Witcher EE (because of great C&C)
Runner Up: Planescape Torment (because of great plot)
Third Place: Mask of the Betrayer (because of great plot, though not good as in PST)
Honorable Mention: Fallout, Baldur's Gate, Gothic, Gothic 2 with Night of the Raven, Baldur's Gate II.

This. And it's not only a case of 'must of' but generally trading 'have' for 'of'.

It's just one of those common mistakes that's become almost acceptable, like "Me and my friend" instead of "My friend and I". I've seen librarians use this, who are usually pretty up tight about such things.
