That's my choice as well. From that we can later derive other lists, like the most popular games, ther best from each decade, and so forth...
One list it'll be interesting to compile from that data is a top-10 RPG series.

Ok, so we agree on 25 points, 5 cap per game, PC only, final destination? If the staff gives greenlight, I'll do it.

Sure go ahead. I would recommend you make a VOTES ONLY thread (to make collecting the vote totals easier). Then make a DISCUSSION thread, that way the vote thread doesn't get shitpost derailed by roguey (who incidentally has NEVER stated his favorite cRPG's. Think about that for a moment. ;) ).

I wish there was a role playing video game in existence that met my standards for gameplay, writing, agency, and art. Looks like it won't be happening until the end of this year at the earliest.

You know, you should be finally forced to show us this incredible list of CRPG's and have to participate in this vote, or be banned.

:troll:

There used to be a pretty heavy anti-Infinity Engine bias in the earliest days of the Codex, and the core from that time were basically Troika fans who came over from/during the Arcanum development cycle. It's way diluted these days, of course, with it seems morepeople liking IE than not.

I joined around the time it wasn't "ok" to defend the IE-games, and for an outsider at the time, it seemed more like the IE-fans started being vocal in spite of people yelling "decline!", more than that a ton of IE-fans suddenly joined. Some of the people who like the IE-games the most here are old-time modders and oldfags.

The true divergence in the Codex isn't between GoldBox/IE-games but between the people who are vocal about newer games being good (like Dragon Age) and those who detest them.

Yeah, it was never an ironclad thing. I think a large part of it was simply a wish by people like Saint Proverbius to differentiate the Codex from sites like Sorcerers that held up BG 1 & 2 as the best games of all time and stuffies, whereas here the averaged point of view was something more along the lines of "yeah they were okay adventure games, but not a work of art".

13 years later, average but entertaining action adventures with dialogue trees sound pretty good in an era of corridor shooters, so there you go.

I don't agree that they're "average but entertaining action adventures with dialogue trees."

Well, that was the Codex consensus when it started, and you have it to thank for the peculiar nature of Age of Decadence, so think of that what you will. Plus, as everyone knows, beliefs that were held in the past are inherently superior to beliefs held in the present.

Vault Dweller

If the Codex of 2002 agreed that Baldur's Gate was an actual RPG, would Age of Decadence allow us to be archmages of Teron?

Corollary: If so, would the Cloaked Praetors ask us for 5,000 gold for a license to cast spells?

I can't vote for Pillars of Eternity until it's out, I've played it, and verified it meets my standards.

I'm an old-time IE modder and I hate Baldur's Gate games.

Oh yeah, I probably shouldn't have said that all old-time modders love the Baldur's Gate games. Good thing I didn't :)

Not sure about PC Only, it seems so Jaesunish, but hey totally agree on 25 points with 5 max per game.
Do we exclude unfinished games though, I would assume so (beta, demo..)

EDIT - oh the voting has already started :)
