Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s lead developer, Corinne Busche, has already secured a highly reputable position after recently leaving BioWare. The director has been hired by Wizards of the Coast under the newly formed studio, Skeleton Key Studios.

SKS is WotC sub-company that is meant to be a game dev studio. edit https://skeletonkeystudio.com
There's not much on it, but we know Hasbro has been looking for ways to make a sequel to BG3 and this appears to be it. Codexers can be happy as it seems ex-bioware devs will fill its ranks, maybe it's the first time they'll say new(BG4) good, old(BG3) bad.
A match made in heaven hell. Now that BG is essentially gay porn this is the perfect hire.

Aren't the people who made BGI and BGII already in a retirement resort or something?
You should be worried about their senility.

Anyway BG I was literally PnP game session they tried to convert into a game. That's why BG I story flowed naturally and that's why we had all these interesting details.

they must be super desperate to be announcing it this early. It's probably going to be at least 2+ years of releasing concept art and telling everyone to please be excited

Is this really true? I'm just surprised someone that's burned probably half a billion dollars in projects with the last one being so out of touch from reality is headhunted for such a big IP.

Talk about failing upwards. Oh yeah you nuked a 16 year old franchise (granted that everything after Origins was dogshit), here get Baldur's Gate just fuck my shit up.
Lets see what our Swen has to say about this lol.
One Larian employee has already bitched about EA "throwing away talent" by firing Veilguard writers. But it wasn't Swen.

I'm looking forward to seeing how woke this game will be. Hopefully Wizards of the Coast puts a lot of money into it and it flops killing two birds with one stone.
Since WotC is a subsidiary of Habsro, it can't be killed; the best we can hope for from BG4 being an expensive flop is that it prevents WotC from developing more computer games with the D&D brand name. :M

nahhhh, IPs are meant to be milked, and BG3 proved the D&D brand is money.

If BG4 fails, they'll pop out an Icewind Dale 3 or something. In fact there are multiple D&D video games currently in development. It's like sperm, you don't shoot just the one.

And here i thought WoTc would hire Owlcat or the Solasta's devs to make BG4.

Owlcat is busy with 4 games. Tactical Adventure is busy with Solasta 2. You are assuming these folks would be dumb enough to want to make BG4. You will need to have an unimaginable thick skin and low IQ to be willing to be compared to Larian.

WOTC opening a new studio to make BG4 is the most realistic option for them, but TBH I would be surprised if they let the studio to just make BG4. More realistically and logically they will ask the studio to make a smaller scale game like a Curse of Strahd game to prove they can be trusted to make BG4. But no matter what it's going to be a shit show.

They must be fucking horrible to work with for Larian to clearly and quickly part ways.

Also Larian doesn't need them or the Baldur's gate brand. They could do a DOS3 / boring but it sell well and probably increase sales of their older games.

They should do a new IP imo with a little more serious tone than DOS.
