Game seems to be incredibly CPU heavy. Frame Generation in those cases is invaluable.
So another Dragons Dogma 2 fiasco?

A lot of newer games are like this. SW Outlaws is like that, DD2, it was the cause of a lot of the CP2077 bottlenecks that were pissing people off. Might be (not as sure about this one) the problem with SW Jedi Survivor also. etc.

How can I enable this comfy pre-alpha mode?

Thought that was a Minecraft mod.

Every game launches broken these days. Join the patient gamers master race or suffer.
Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance did not. You should buy it, to show your appreciation for such a grand feat.

Is this an actual area in the game rendered with the lowest settings? Jesus. This looks like a completely bugged render.

Yeah, it bugged out lol it was stuck like that but after restarting it seems to only do it for a brief moment when switching graphics settings or loading a save. Low graphics gave me a few more FPS but not much.

H-How does this game run on 4k?

:backawayslowly:
That depends on your GPU, I'm getting 90-100 fps in most locations at 4K ultra with a 4070 ti Super. That's with DLSS and framegen enabled though.
4070Ti and a AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D. Guess I am fine then after all. And Framegen + DLSS are pretty much mandatory if you want to play games on 4k these days with anything less than a 4090ti.

How is STALKER 2 gameplay compared to Shadow of Chernobyl?

I've read a number of negative reviews discussing the huge amount of bugs, but that's to be expected from GSC, a company lacking talented programmers.

Is the atmosphere still present? Is there more of a story this time around? How is the combat? How many gameplay hours does it take to beat of you're a completionist? What other aspects of the game do you consider inferior compared to the first STALKER and two expansions?

Haha I actually do have a ViewSonic g810 CRT and was thinking about playing it on that for the lower res performance and smoother picture

Just tried the high seas release.

My PC (Ryzen 5800X3D, 32 GB RAM, RTX 4070 12 GB GDDR6X, latest Nvidia driver and stuff) cannot handle the game or it's just that broken. Playing at 1440p:

- the intro sequence after the truck stops drops to about 50 fps with DLSS and frame generation enabled
- once I can move it's 50-60 fps with DLSS and around 115 with frame generation
- mouse latency is so high it's on the verge of playable
- it might just be that everything has high latency, because the moving anomaly killed me each time I waited for the inventory screen to appear or disappear
- changing graphics settings does not increase performance, thus the Ryzen 5800X3D is too small for this game. GPU usage never exceeded 75%

The positives:
- there's an audio dynamic range option. Had no chance to test it, but it seems the pistol was loud enough
- quite a bit of settings in the menu, including setting a dot crosshair for all weapons. It always annoys me when games change the crosshair all the time

Uninstalled. Will not touch until I upgrade my hardware.
And I don't plan to upgrade at the moment.

PS: does the torrent have the day one patch?

You must be insane if you think you need to upgrade that hardware. Just wait for patches. I played Lords of the Fallen on launch, it was absolutely terrible, stutters galore and drops below 30fps on rtx4070. A year later, it glides. You niggers need to learn the value of patience.

My patience simply exceeds the lifetime of my current PC build ;)

The gameplay is about the same except in a huge open world. Story is presented differently, there are many more cutscenes and you don't get those large boxes of text when talking to NPC's anymore, it's more like a Fallout 4-style dialog system. The atmosphere feels less gloomy than ShoC but the game has more varied weather effects. Exploration is a lot better, there's tons of little places to discover and they usually have some loot. Combat is better and you can actually use stealth now.

…This is despite the AI, which I didn't find to be nearly as smart as GSC claims it is. They make poor use of cover (they might use it, but often limbs or such will still be visible, or they'll hide behind material that you'll just shoot through etc), and usually simply stand in the open. They don't care about crossfire and they don't move in coordinated ways, often leaving you with just one flank to bother with if you position yourself correctly despite facing numerous hostiles. This is also because they don't stay on the move much, preferring to stick to one spot. Sometimes the AI is just fucking laughable. I'll give you a specific example. At one occasion I almost ran into a gang of bandits. They started blasting, and I thought it was at me at first. Then I realized it wasn't. I hid, and they kept shooting and shooting. I realized that they were the only party shooting, so they must be facing mutants. But I didn't hear any damn mutants. Eventually I stood up and looked and they're all shooting at something behind a nearby building. I get my gun out and kill them rather easily as I get the drop on them, then walk over behind the building. There, there's a fucking gated garden with mutated rats running around. The bandits had been standing fifty yards away throwing grenades and wasting hundreds of bullets shooting at rats that were STUCK INSIDE A FUCKING CAGE. Wanna know how many rats they had managed to kill? Exactly zero.

Vindication feels good.

Anyway, there's no reason why you couldn't do this [AI] stuff in Unreal, it would probably work the same way.

And yet, nobody will ever do it.

A-life was pretty basic and didn't add that much to the actual gameplay, it's probably not that hard to recreate it in Unreal.

So then, surely it’ll be included, right? Right?

I didn't play much yet, but what I did play included some shooting and running around, etc. game looks and sounds great. Stayed fairly stable generally around 150fps, though it occasionally hopped up to more like 200fps on ultra settings, quality DLSS.
