I wonder how many people on the current dev team even worked on the original? Updating that ancient code and working with the xray engine is probably gonna suck ass if the programmers arent already familiar with it.

A4 made it into a modern engine, but then again most of the people who created the engine in the first place were the ones who founded A4.

but if they're gonna take money for post-launch content, that content should be described in detail.
Why would they do that, when you've shown them that you'll support them even if they don't?
A lot of us have already paid for the DLCs included in the Ultimate Edition
Because Valve's gonna force them to, and the Ultimate Edition of Stalker 2 is kind of an anomaly since it was sold for less than the base game if you pre-ordered long enough ago (mine was 2021).

Stalker 2 suffers from all the same issues as Witcher 3 in terms of open world design, except with higher intensity. They should've cut like 1/3rd of the map, maybe then that what remains would've been more polished.
Once you get further into the game and you're doing quests in the region where there's no trader/guide in a 2km radius you're going to feel it.

I haven’t played Stolkor 2, but if there aren’t areas that are far enough out in ‘deep water’ that you start to worry about being able to ‘swim back to shore’ you would lose something vital.

Insert Title Here Strap Yourselves In I helped put crap in Monomyth
They'll "update" the originals on PC, better make a backup just in case.

although a lot of mods have migrated to the OGSR engine, this will probably break support for a lot of total conversions so i imagine you'll be able to specify whether if you want the new or classic version in the same way you can play the previous or next gen version of The Witcher 3 by designating that you want the classic version

I've tried the big patch few days ago. Decided to progress the story. Got a quest to storm a place with guys from Ward, we killed everyone but quest would not continue and everyone was just standing there confused.. game still needs few more months in the oven..

I noticed FSR frame generation works magnificently with this. I went from barely 60 FPS at 1440p on an RTX 3070 to a constant 120 FPS with frame generation. Color me impressed. I haven't investigated FG much because it seemed like an awkward hack that can lead to occasional visual weirdness but with Stalker 2 it might have just won me over. I do experience input lag but at those framerates, it's minimal. I've been on hiatus from gaming for many weeks but this might be the first time I start to play a recent game in earnest. NLC 7 runs like shit compared to S2 but I always wanted to play that too but microstutter is the great fun-killer. Super-impressed that FSR FG & 64-bit eliminates that problem here with Stalker 2 at least. I wish you could do FG with NLC 7 or other X-ray engine mods and get smooth 64-bit gameplay.

At least in Witcher 3 etc you had a horse. Stalker 2 is especially weird in that regard because technically the map is full of landmarks, yet not enough.

I think the main issue is that some areas are just right, when it comes to „density vs desolation”, like Lesser Zone, Swamps, Duga, Red Forest, but they’re all between absolutely miserable shit like Zaton, Wild Island or Burnt Forest that turn this game into running/energy drink addict simulator.

You had a horse and you had much more accessible fast travel. They need to bring back the option to fast travel from random stalker squads.

Game still plays similar. Enemies spawn too close to you, know exactly where you are through any kind of sight blockers, still have crazy good aim with any kind of weapon from any distance (if a group of them start shooting any sniper you have is useless) and when you finally get back to base repair costs are crazy.
And performance is still bad.
