The discord community that surrounds them will continue kissing the dev's feet and excusing everything regardless of the direction things go. They're unable to cope with the reality that STALKER 2 was never really made to be a STALKER game for real STALKER fans. The game was developed as a love letter to Ukraine and Phil Spencer. Oh, and furries.

Yeah, the Discord community is an absolute dumpsterfire. You've got people harassing anyone who criticises the game into silence, and then they unironically admit that Stalker 2 is their first Stalker game. The irony is that most of those whiteknights will move on to the next new, shiny thing in a week or two.

If there's one positive thing here, it's that UE5 is (to my knowledge) pretty moddable and we should have a much better game than vanilla in a few years. Provided the devs don't gut the SDK.

If you need to wait several years for mods to make a game deliver on it's initial promises, it's a negative not a positive.

Of course. It doesn't excuse how hard the devs fucked up. But the silver lining is that modders might be able to salvage something.

I called STALKER 2 out as being Xbox gamepass SLOP
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Well so far GamePass had zero day 1 awesome releases that everyone played and praised.. most of the community thinks M$ does not even care anymore to release good games for Game Pass.

Closest thing to good GamePass release was Diablo 4 after it arrived on gamepass but that is not Day 1. And that is due to that game being almost 1 year old and most of the stuff fixed so only bad design decision are left but casuals that like D4 do not care for that.

In that case "garbage" is the word you're looking for.

Slop is used for modern audience gaming - soft, safe, lame, gay, gormless. It's got nothing to do with bugs, jank or "bad design".

Seems the latest tactic by whiteknights is to now gaslight and claim that A-Life didn't work at all in SoC (some particularly brave whiteknights are even claiming it didn't work in any of the OG games) and that everyone is just imagining the system being in that game.

This is why we'll keep getting served mediocre tripe. People are willing to lie for devs after devs scammed them.

It's stupid that they removed Russian from the voices, I liked it a lot in SoC. It added much to the dialogues.

On every video I've seen so far the player is never holstering his weapon. Don't NPCs react to being pointed at ?

As far as I understand this game is inferior to the erlier games.

How well does it fulfill the fantasy of a Stalker? Is it fun to explore the world?

u can holster your weapon and there is an in-game message telling that you should do that to not piss off other stalkers

There are areas in the game where your weapon is holstered automatically but that is probably so you cannot shoot or attack anyone. This is mostly around shops or services.

Also when entering villages, guards at entrance sometimes comment that you should holster the weapon as you pass by but never do anything about it.

Btw I got it to run well on Xbox X on 4k with Quality mod on. It even looks cool. All I had to do it turn on Game mode on monitor and turn on Juddering reduction option a bit. Sure I get a bit of ghosting now but at least gameplay is smooth and everything looks nice when standing still
