Man, as someone who has only spent a $100 on this game I can freely sit back, watch the shitstorm occur, and enjoy whatever eventually releases.

i dont know how it works in the US, but i find the reasons for not releasing any financial records a bit funny
https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/comment/5691637/#Comment_5691637

in several european countries, escpecially scandinavia ALL companies rough finances are public. take a look:
http://www.proff.no/selskap/microsoft-norge-as/lysaker/it-konsulenter-og-rådgivning/Z001YP4Y/
http://www.proff.no/selskap/funcom-oslo-as/oslo/data-og-tv-spill/Z0I3KIZ1/

not only that, every induvidual income was public until 2011, you could search any name even thru SMS. now you have to log in.

In Hungary, every annual financial report must be made public. Our University's record are even available on our website.

One source is cited saying that is common knowledge that there are just 8 kk USD left.
To be fair Star Citizen raised over a million dollars in the past week so that'd bring the banked amount up to over 9 million USD.

The one thing that Derek Smart leaves out is that the on-going funding for the game is still strong. Star Citizen continue to bring in millions of dollars. I haven't paid close enough attention to know whether or not the funding is slowing down or not - but for the moment it appears to be going strong enough to sustain their current level of activity.

However, that does not explain why they feel the need to have four offices in four locations. I get that Chris' brother (Erin) probably didn't want to move so they opened a studio to work on Squadron 42 although I feel that wasn't a fiscally sound business choice.

I guess this way Chris can have his first class travel AND have multiple domiciles all paid for by the company. I don't know if that is the case but I wouldn't be surprised.

Star Citizen will not die until the on-going funding drive for the game stops. At the moment it's still going strong.

DS estimate of 2-3mil per month makes sense.
http://vgsales.wikia.com/wiki/Video_game_costs

even if your lucky and bring in 1mil in a week there comes a point in time when the marked is saturated. no way it will last long. the only reason for them to put on expensive shows like citizencon (good name for it) design new ships etc is to ramp up the pledges.

CR: “the game on the low side was going to be about 14 million dollars to make and the high side, which is where we are at now, is going to be about 20 million”
“I mean it’s going to cost 20 million dollars plus by the time its all finished”

at 6mil they promised 100 star systems. so far they have 1 - ONE?

oh i cant wait to see what happens next year, you can feel the tension building up everywhere.. the crash will be glorious and referred to for decades to come.

Star Citizen continue to bring in millions of dollars.

So does the F-35 Lighting (ah ah, they must named it after the weather condition it cannot fly under) II, doesnt change the fucking thing doesnt work properly.

Its a shinny example of how throwing money at it will not just fix the issues, the US have pressured its allies into buying the fucking thing so money rolls in for Lockheed, it became a absolute monster of spending that puts the sunken cost fallency in full effect since nobody have the balls to step out of it, especially the US since they will go over 3 presidents with the fucking thing (JSF started with Clinton) and nobody wants to be the one to end it after billions poured in.

The same applies, no matter how much money you throw at SC it not not make it move, the problems are rooted in development process itself, you just prolong it because it became "too big to fail" leaving you with something that could have costed a fraction of the cost, run better and already been out.

Future generations of game developers will read all about StarGate in the history books.

:troll:

For the amount of money Star Citizen have got, we could have built an actual star gate and traveled to an alternate universe and stolen the source code of their best SpaceSim and remade it here.

Mid September some Star Citizen guy from their forums made a prophetic fan art:

Maybe Erin gets to finish the single player game, that's all I want, I'm too old for MMO bullshit. Also please do FMV. But can Sandi replace Ginger?

Why would you need 4 studios to develop I'm guessing 2 games? Also little I've been reading, someone talked about a 50 million dollar pledger. Is that right? Someone pledged 50 million into the game or invested 50 million into the game?

like a slot machine. use a little more and maybe you will win. :D when you are $1000-2000 deep into it, its tougher to admit defeat and stop.

"It's a mental thing," he said. "If a gust of wind catches the balloon and it starts to rise, and you get lifted six inches into the air, you think, 'Oh, that's no big deal, I can just step down if I need to.' Then before you know it you're at six feet, and you think, 'I could twist an ankle, I'd better hang on and wait 'til it gets lower.' Then you're at thirty feet, and if you jump you're going to break a leg. But if you don't jump..."

I sold my pledge ships for several thousand dollars' net profit many months ago, and don't care anymore. I had no inkling of the current bad PR kerfluffle until someone tagged me ITT. The only time I think of Star Citizen lately is when I see that someone has tagged me yet again in this thread, and I usually ignore them and then forget about it twenty seconds later.

After all this time, some Codexers remain obsessed with Star Citizen and post about it daily. Whales waste their money, while you waste your time and energy circlejerking ITT.

When the ship really begins to sink, I'll start paying attention again.

Even Blaine knows when to get out. Admiral, time is money and money is time so we waste about the same.

Everyone likes to look at a good trainwreck, though I suppose you prefer those of a bloodier variety.

Blaine likes to drop these quips as if the rest of us are no-lifers while he's apparently banging supermodels.

I do enjoy trainwrecks, but I don't waste my time posting over and over again about games (or anything else) I don't like. My post history reflects this, in the GODUS and Shroud of the Avatar threads for example.

Anyway, someone PM me when (and if) the Tiger's Claw crashes and burns for the final time.
