Does this unit have a soul?

Got a link to this original Fallout font? Looks great.

Why does it look like ass?
It's the sin of all of Beamdog's Enhanced Editions... take a 640x480 game, upscale it with a blurry filter and then add a very sharp HD UI that highlights how blurry the game looks in contrast... :/

EDIT: To be fair, they added the option to use Nearest Neighbor scaling, which IMHO makes it look MUCH better and more natural:

Super Mario Bros. 3Mix

Imagine all major Mario games (until 2014) combined into a Super Mario Bros. 3 framework with classic Nintendo level design. There are mid-level checkpoints. You can revisit levels. And each level has 3 optional star coins, some of them hidden behind mild but neat puzzles. Find all of them to unlock World 0.

Yoshis in SMB3. But you can't keep them between levels.

You can also freeze enemies and kick them like shells.

Airships are no longer autoscrollers.

After beating World 8, comet challenges will appear in many levels to earn extra star coins. There are two types: 1) Beat the level as small Mario without checkpoints and power-ups. 2) Find all purple coins.
The former poses an appropriate challenge. The latter is pointless and trivial because the purple coins rarely lead you to more difficult paths or jumps.

Eternal Love user-made campaign for HoMM 3.
Somewhat plagued with the fanfiction level writing of Heroes Chronicles (I really don't want to know what my character dreams and feels), but the maps are better and more challenging.

Hmm...sounds like a sick place.

What do you mean, Chief? Maybe she wants ingredients to mix up max potions and be a helpful handler for once.

Highly suspicious.

esz20cE.jpg

The deranged look... there can be no doubt.

Don't know missy, but they're going to be disappointed once they find out you've been whiffing dem 'shrooms ever since arriving and, judging by your looks, partying hard afterwards.

zFRuKGE.jpg

Did she drug the cat too? No wonder it never helps when I need it.

Girl gets so high she has dellusions of grandeur and can't even dress appropriately for a mission in a cold biome, tsk.

lPFmZrs.jpg

After confronting her about the truth, she ran away in shame and despair and needed to be rescued by airship.

And so starts Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, a tale about how the Handler overcomes her mushroom addiction... or not?

T9ONoSl.jpg

A 'shroom shining in darkness. Could Capcom be trying to turn the Hunter into a junkie too? The horror!

Hold up, this is the year 2020 and people are playing games at 4:3, 1280 x 1024? Is this shit for real?

Why not tho? I mean iwd has a nice looking widescreen mod, but many old games don't, doesn't stop people from playing them

Ahem,

1280x1024 is 5:4, also known as the master race, not 4:3.

4:3 is obviously the master race bloodline but it appears 16:10 has quite an old pedigree as well surprisingly. 5:4 is clearly an abomination.

That is wrong, afaik. While 320x200 is "technically" 16:10 (or 8:5), CGA monitors were 4:3 and games were made 4:3 in mind, as the games were made with those same monitors. Anyone who plays old games in anything else than 4:3 is heretic (unless the games were specifically made for some other aspect ratio, but I doubt any games were before widescreen monitors became the norm).

It wasn't 4:3 either, that will still show them incorrectly.
It's something that either requires the correct hardware or a software emulation to produce the correct result. And even then, it's not always right. Some games were designed on different hardware than they were played on and the artists goofed. Sometimes you have games with both corrected and uncorrected art in the same game.
You can find some discussions about this on the scummvm forums btw.

Yeah, still I'd say 320x200 as CGA marked as 4:3 would be more right than marking it as 8:5 / 16:10.
