The happy ending that awaits us all:

I'm probably a stone's throw away from the ending. Excellent Western for storyfags.

Xenia is farther along than most people probably think, and very user-friendly too: File->Open and go. No reason to miss out if you liked (or expect to like) RDR2 or GUN.

Those are your screenshots?! What rig are you playing on, 3080 ti?

I have quite frequent urges to replay it somehow, but not so strong as to get an xbone specifically for this. Back in Spain I played it on this PlayStation Now or whatever streaming, so it was the game's worst version with a grainy industrial camera filter on top if it from buffering. But all that mattered was that it was running one way or another.

I think RDR2 is, as far as storyfags are concerned, much better when it comes to interpretation of certain events, but... there's something special about RDR1, and how somber and bleak it is. Part of it is that there's no gang, companions or even friends, the music in Nuevo Paraiso or West Elizabeth is just on another level than "ambient" tracks from RDR2, and other various touches like how every Stranger mission ends in despair and broken dreams one way or another. RDR2 even highlights it with i.e. Evelyn Miller quest chain.

Well I'll be damned, it works wonders. Starting the game I get - with stutters, but still - around 50 fps. That PS3 emulator was hardly pushing 15. Thanks mister!

It's funny to think back on the arguments people on forums made in favor of the 2.4:1 aspect ratio at the time. Claiming that it allows the player to see more, a wider field of view. It looked fine with the black bars deleted. Less cramped.

Their pretentiousness would have been cute if they had also made the picture slightly spherical, like a true scope movie.

first ten hours or so of Enderal. wonderful sense of exploration, weighed down by Skyrim. Not much choice in questing, but definitely free to go wherever the hell you desire.

There's no High Fleet without high casualties.

It's a nice mix of arcade combat and simple fleet management combined with some map interface that resembles UI found in subsims. Except for combat no particular mechanic is really deep, but they do connect in rather coherent way.

The combat itself is definitely pretty, but with all those visual effects crammed in the battlefield can get unreadable at times. There are also some strange design decisions that will make you wonder if anyone apart from the dev played it before release.

On a max zoom level you can see some terrain features in a display resembling satellite imagery. There is also some time wasting minigame to get loot and info from defeated enemies.

Enemy fleet incoming:

There is also a signal intercept and code breaking minigame, which is quite nice, as long as it doesn't fire off in the thick of things.
4FB7AAF3E29CDE1ABA686666E2FFDA696DD6D347

There's also a landing minigame. That's the moment I learnt about the bug introduced in one of the undocumented patches, that caused ship's landing gear to vanish when you tried to repair it. Oh well ...

Different cities give you different boosts, but there is hardly any variety in how they look (the second one is the unique background for the capital city herself):

The strategic layer can get quite busy as well, and also lacks some pretty obvious QoL features. But you can do quite a lot with it - intercept comms, play hide and seek with radars off, order cruise missile attack and launch airstrikes, which can be very devastating, if they catch enemy group unawares.

We're going into nuclear combat toe-to-toe with the Russkies:

And the aftermath of catching my fleet with on of those blasts. Those small burning pixels are what remains of my ships. Fortunately you can commit such war crimes as well.

You can also meet and recruit some allies along the way by playing another minigame. This time it's a small card minigame. The character art is quite nice.

The story borrows from some of the most known sci-fi works. Dune vibe is really strong, and not only because of the presence of sandniggers.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Just be casual. Inconspicuous. Blend in.

Just standing here like a normal person looking out at the sea. Nothing to see here. Move along people.
