In both Dark Sun: Shattered Lands and Dark Sun 2: Wake of the Ravager, you can select which party member appears on the screen to represent the entire party (there is also an option to have all four party members displayed, even when outside combat):

finished, best run of all, managed to max all skills by the 6th territory lol - festival events to donate master swords, bridge fights, geishas, cooks to cook the foodstuffs, it all flowed
I might try something as goofy as doing a hard run with the "cane" he starts with, which is as useless as a weapon as the wooden sword or the Go board
