I've used abload.de for many years and although it's a little slow, it has always worked and afaik never put any of my pictures down, even ones from 10 years ago

Yeah. The interface could use some improvement.

This thread is going to get screwed up.

I wonder how hard it would be to download every imgur image linked from every codex thread and copy it into Amazon S3 and then serve it from behind some cloudflare account, then use some admin perm to replace the urls in the posts with the cloudflare links.
Who's going to pay for the s3 bucket?

Had some time today so I looked into this.

I crawled this thread (very, very, slowly, to avoid burdening the codex's server).

I think there are ~55,000 unique imgur-hosted images on this thread. I then downloaded a random sample of them from imgur - five percent - in both jpg and webp format. Some fraction predictably have already been removed by their moderators but I was still able to download the vast majority. That sample came out at 1.4 GB for the jpegs, 258mb for the webps. From this I extrapolate that an archive of imgur images for this thread in jpeg format would be in the region of 29 GB (or 5.2 GB if webp was used).

I costed this out with a popular filehost I have used professionally before and they will charge $1.7 per calendar year to store this (31 cents for the webp versions). The same filehost will waive egress fees if I serve this data from cloudflare. Cloudflare as usual charge nothing. Obviously it would be more to cover the whole forum but I think there is particular value in keeping this the images in this thread working.

So I can stump the fees to preserve this thread. The cost of the storage is actually a lot less than even a shit-tier domain name. A .uk domain name costs £6/year with my preferred registrar. I already use the Redirector extension for Chrome to bulk replace imgur links to jpegs to webps so once I have everything set up keeping this thread working for me is just one more regex replace put into that (I'm happy to share my config).

And if I encounter unexpected costs I can turn the whole enterprise revenue positive by handing over an tagged+enriched subset of the most objectionable images to the relevant authorities. A lot of feds are very interested in right wing gamers at the moment.

Is anyone else interested in this? Would admins on this site be willing to do a mass find+replace to fix broken image links?

Didn't have much time to play this week, so the progress has been really slow. I must say I didn't expect that common enemies will be carrying grenade launchers that kill you in 1 shot, but whatever. I've found a number of ways to quickly nuke everything that moves without much effort, that is abusing corners and "no attacking while not on the screen" rule. Found the super secret room in mission 7, that gives you all equipment that is possible to acquire up until that point, including the mighty cluster grenade launcher AR-7, yummy! I only wish that I could get auto shotgun a bit sooner though, I initially hated the pump action one, but learned to appreciate it after I got used to the controls.

The super secret room, roll over to the area, where the elite soldier is crouching.

Never was a fan of larian brand of humour but Divine Divinity sure looks very pleasing to the eye.
Honestly I'm surprised that it isn't more stereotypically Larian. Seems like old timey fantasy shlock with humorous self-awareness compared to the reddit humor of DOS. Going by these screenshots, might give it a try myself tbh.
