Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Fun hack and slash title, but I would wait for a discount, because it's really short. It doesn't end with cliffhanger, but wraps up anything nicely. The combat system has some unlockable moves and stat upgrades. Plus of course costumes - lots of them and art/music. Visually game shows its age, since it was released in 2012, but everything is smooth and I haven't got any problems (it uses Unreal engine). Really liked the zombie taunts and the plot isn't serious at all. Finished RePOP version, after some time I'll try the original for comparison.

You've played the barbarian class? Really strong one, I've finished the whole game without big problems.
Snowblind Studios made a really good engine for hack and slash, and with upped graphics via PCSX2 it looks great even today. I'm currently playing the sequel - Return to Arms. Still they went with the tasteful art direction, when it comes to women presentation. For the variety I choose ranger, which is even more powerful. Story is worse, because it's more like a ladder with different challenges, but thanks to adding more classes and being more difficult it keeps you interested. Both soundtracks were made by Inon Zur, but the first part is way better for me - more memorable. I need to try later on The Lord of the Rings: War in the North, which was also made by Slowblind, but for next generation of consoles and PC.

i've been playing the dark alliance / norrath games for the better part of a month. i got the ARPG itch and was tired of playing games filled with uggos, failed at getting sacred 1 to work with any kind of good framerate and then the shift key broke on my laptop so i decided gamepad gaming was the way to go for now.

i prefer the norrath games to dark alliance just by virtue of them having a gothic-style invincible backstep that you can perform out of a block. it's janky, and even though you don't take damage enemies will still knock you on your ass mid-dodge with their overabundance of knockdown moves, but at least the dodge is there. in dark alliance if you want to out-maneuver anything you have to bunny-hop everywhere, which got annoying.

i'd agree champions of norrath has a better campaign than its sequel, but each have their flaws and annoying missions with way too much backtracking for how slow you run. overall i prefer RTA due to a few QOL improvements- being able to quickcast your spells is a big one. the cleric is my favorite class so far- online opinions seem to think of them as pretty weak but when you stack a shitload of int and mana regen, along with mana shield and a life leech spell you can become pretty tough to kill. plus they have some pretty reliable crowd control with their AOE stun and confuse spells. and if you use the '7-button' glitch, where you contort your hands into holding 7 different buttons during name entry in champions of norrath, your cleric will start with the barbarian's 'bash' skill, and you can import that bugged character into RTA- unfortunately the bugged 5,000 lbs carry weight doesn't carry over.

flaws aside, i've been pleasantly surprised at how well these games hold up. having to actively block, dodge, and juke archers because they can be so deadly and lead their target makes for a good time as opposed to the left-click faceroll that a lot of ARPGs devolve into. of course the barbarian has so many multiplicative passives that they can easily 1-shot the final boss when specced right, but whatever. it's biggest issues to me are damage spells being useless due to no INT damage scaling and weak itemization, there are not that many interesting affixes on items to play with, but it's a ps2 ARPG so what can you really expect? it'd be cool if the games had a modding community that added 'real' unique items with real unique effects, because the bones are there for this to be one of the better ARPGs of all time IMO.

JarlFrank Svarog's Dream (old gods vs one god), combat with auto-attacks and active skills, nothing groundbreaking but at least it's not another diablo-clone. I dig the atmosphere, exploration is also decent so far.

Agreed. Mainly when is a "hidden gem".
What if I don't want people to figure out the game so it REMAINS a hidden gem? "Pearls before swine" and all that. :smug:
Secrecy would be better held if pictures weren't posted either.
But that's no fun. Gotta dangle the sweet sweet gaming experience above the heads of the plebs.

What if some sly trickster posted the wrong name under his screenshots?

We need to go back to these "simple" graphics. Shaders, reflections and bump mapping can eat a dick.

Mages + "Arcane Strength" = bad people die:

*Edit: game's name: Tactics Ogre - Let Us Rip-off Berserk
