RTFM'ing twice seems to have paid off and I'm off to a good start in Jagged Alliance.

I need a better medic than Hurl E. Cutter, and I've tried recruiting Cynthia "The Fox" Guzzman, but even though she's only lvl 1 she turns me down. Maybe she is turned off by the though of joining my Dork Squad headed by Speck T. Kline and Marty "Kaboom" Moffat?

Ms. Death has some pretty meaty thighs for a skeleton.

A little more of my ongoing journey through the world of Skyrim: Requiem.

Actually I'm very tempted to attack you, I just won't do it because you're a walking tank and I use cloth, so I'd have to kite you for hours. You can go.

Party shot at Bleak Falls Barrow, alongside the newest unwilling member, the guy that was stuck in the spider web (he died by himself, running into the trap and being launched across the room, the dumbfuck). We're a ragtag bunch of misfits kept together by the power of love, friendship and necromancy, it's just like in my japanese animes!

You wouldn't believe how painful it is to guide actually braindead NPCs by a corridor-wide trap. Since the (living) mercenary was smart enough to avoid it, I ended up giving in and simply dragging their idiot corpses through the opening on the wall. The ice effect is from me trying to find the raised plate.

Found a necromancer ghost. He's either very sneaky or got stuck in the level geometry. This didn't keep him from raising all the draugr corpses around us, including my own zombies when they fell, once or twice.

DraQ the difficulty in Bleak Falls Barrow is weird. In Requiem, the game throws two shouting Draugr Overlords at you in a relatively small room at the middle of the dungeon, while the final room is packed with low-ranked Draugr, including the supposedly boss-level one in the coffin next to the word wall, who died before he even got out of the coffin.. In my other game with Erkeil's Overhaul, he was a Deathlord who took ten minutes to kill.

The welcoming comittee, three archers positioned to turn anything that enters the room into a pincushion. If I didn't have a zombie clad in steel armor to serve as bait, I'd be scared. I use two fireball scrolls to clear them up before they notice I'm a more attractive target.

Don't mind the fresh corpse, just keep sweeping. Nothing to see here.

posts like this almost convince me to reinstall skyrim, mode it with 200+mods and big overhauls and than lose myself in an immersive world full of adventures.:M

than i wake up and realise its not fucking 2002 anymore, skyrim is not morrowind and no matter how many mods i install its still shallow, borring, broken game :rage:

It's quite fun when you install a difficulty enhancing mod and do random stuff at your own pace, instead of completing questlines mechanically. There's no need to install a metric fuckton of mods because that's a sign you don't really like the game to begin with. I have a few mechanics-change ones, some fixes, a bunch of graphical mods just to make use of my new computar, and a few pointless ones for the lulz.

I never really understood the complaints some had about superpowers in Saints Row IV. Did they not remember what it was like near the end of SR3? You'd already turned into a superhero. Don't believe me? Watch.

This is...well he never actually had a name, did he?

Sup.

He's my second playthrough character, following the now traditional red-haired British fellow.

Hey.

Anyway, our friend here has maxed out resistances to fire, explosions, bullets and vehicles, and immunity to ragdoll effects. Snazzy armor (the best I could slap together at Let's Pretend) and more importantly the Apoca-Fist, courtesy of Killbane.

In other words he is an absolute monster. I wonder, what would a punch sufficient to do this to a car...do to a human?

Ah, about what you'd expect.

Or at least the punch of a Brute. Thank you Apoca-Fist. Truly one wonders if there is anything left that can stand in his way.

I think the problem with the superpowers is that they kind of ruin the point of the games being about HOT CARS. Kind of how in Saint's Row 2 the game becomes ridiculously easy if you do missions in a Bear (LOL) or a Tornado (LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL) instead of a Superiore or an Attrazione, to the point in which there is, uhm, no point at all in using the HOT CARS because 'what should I take on this mission?' is always a tie between the Bear (good hits points and infinite HEAVY MACHINEGUN) and the Peterliner (LOTS AND LOTS OF HITPOINTS but you have to shoot normals weapons, though you can make most shit explode just by ramming it) and the Tornado (because ATTACK CHOPPER WITH AS MUCH HP AS A BEAR AND INFINITE ROCKETS THAT CAN'T BE ATTACKED BY MOST ENEMIES but is really a bitch to land). Or, well, the Atlasbreaker if you are feeling like LULZ.

It's kind of sad to have all those REALLY HOT CARS yet only be able to use them in the higher difficulty levels as part of a self-imposed challenge. And in SR4 there is not even a point in using the cars anymore. :( At least SRTT gave you some totally insane vehicles if you were reticent to stealing heavy duty military hardware because that's not fashionable, like that LOL starship you get from the DLC and the Genki vehicles.

My first playthrough (before all my pirated stuff got deleted) was a no-powers run so I was enjoying a lot of the improvements they made to the ground based systems. The customization for cars is even more comprehensive then TT.

Also if you didn't have some good companions backing you up at times it was game over. Still perfectly viable though. You can play it like a normal SR 95% of the time, just ignore the superpowered activities. I would have cut loose with my second character.

I'll try a playthrough like that. :D

But it is still kind of sad there is no point to the cars outside 'self imposed challenges.' Like, you are gimping yourself on a cars and guns playthrough. I did play through SR2 on hardcore several times and SRTT once using only sports cars (edit: And luxury sedans, Eiswolf and Socialite and Infuego FTW!) when not forced otherwise (though that did include the Sexy Kitten so it was kind of not-so-fair, that thingie is a beast), and it was like super duper fun but it did still nagged me I was gimping myself like that. :(

I don't feel too bad about it. It's not like Oblivion where people are larping non-existent systems (typically on a console, since PC gamers just mod in Basic Needs or whatever), I'm simply choosing to gain power through another route. Instead of hopping around town collecting Orbs I'm upgrading weapons and managing upgrades for Crew Members and increasing my resistances. Instead of super speed I'm tracking down the best vehicles and tricking them out. Jumping challenges? Uh, no. I stole a helicopter and completed all the towers in less than five minutes while listening to the radio. Screw your jumping challenge.

You ever use the unique vehicle customization glitch in SR:TT? Look it up and then use it on the Wraith (the Decker-themed Attrazione), maxing out its Torque. It becomes so fast you can barely respond quick enough anymore. Super fun to drive.

Darklands

Ah, Darklands, I've started a game after the recent Codex review/retrospective, but got detracted after a few days.
Somehow the game can get a bit repetitive, since you need to grind the always same missions to get some decent gear and money.
Then I heard the rumor of trouble in the mines near a certain city, but whenever I go there the quest itself doesn't seem to trigger... :(

Do you use the GOG installer? It works fine for me, but then again I'm not too deep into the game, yet.

Yup, GOG version.
I figured that either I don't have enough renown to trigger a questgiver giving me the quest, I'm at the wrong mine (I checked all I could find in the surrounding area, though) or I'm at the wrong city - the rumor talked of Freiberg, which is close to Dresden in eastern germany, but the game mixes up FreibErg and FreibUrg (im Breisgau, in south-western germany) on several occasions, maybe that's the case here, as well.
Then again, it doesn't matter much, there's always something else to do.

Edit: talking about Darklands - while they claim some historical accuracy when it comes to Universities, there are several errors in the game - Freiberg didn't have an university until the late 18th century, afaik, and while the University in Würzburg was first founded in 1402, it quickly ran into financial troubles and did exist only for a decade before the dean got killed. The university wasn't refounded until the late 16th century.)

Yeah, that's annoying. When I played I missed the second Witch Coven which was supposed to be in Freiberg or Freiburg.

You must be a woman. Only they can multi-task to such a degree. :D

I met a lot of strong women in my life and few of them are, or were a part of my family. This might have influenced my psyche a bit. I've always seen them push on, when everyone else broke down. I'm not a feminist. I'd rather slap them and fuck them in a cold dungeon, however I must admit women are very strong in their own sense. They make good spies too.
I remember when I had my first PC I could play 10 games at the time, and my brain could mix that shit up so badly, so I dreamed that Half-Life was an adventure game where you had to use crowbar with the dragon to kill Shub-Niggurath.

Interesting. I think multitasking is inherent to both genders. It just takes a lot of time to develop it. With knowledge it grows. As in my case, it gets only better.
Or I could be a woman who hides her sex from fellow Codexers to avoid possible requests of nude photos.

I really enjoy the increased weapon damage, though stupid AI still bothers me. Though when it manages to hit me in the head, I die from one shot - and that is awesome.

Just reinstalled Operation Flashpoint. All the VGA goodness. Combined operations. Russian Soviet hardware. Tractors. Skoda cars. Soviet weapons. American tanks. American rifle M14 ( my fav with uder hand grenade launcher ). Pine forests. Meadows. Moldy green brick buildings. Heavy masonry. Tank traps ( hedgehogs ). EAX sound. Holy motherfuck, it is so epic. Will post pics maybe.
I remember when I played it, it ran like shit, though I enjoyed it. Even now it manages to freeze for a sec or two once in a while.
I remember the mission, where you are alone in the forest, some vehicle is driving around the forest, and the village nearby is full of Russians.
Shit, I still wonder how the character managed to run through this without getting a heart attack.

I have the platinum edition with Resistance expansion all patched to latest ( 1.46 for Cold War Crisis ). Runs like breeze ( I use 640x480 res. ).
I usually play older games in 640x400 or 848x480 with 4xAA enabled. KOTOR and Ultima 9 look pretty good with those settings.
