Actually, Thief 2 has two more 'scary' sections: A holy relic kept under eternal guard beneath the chapel in Sheriff Truart's house, and the sunken galleon on Markham's Isle. I counted a grand total of 8 Undead enemies in Thief 2.

As for Fan Missions, we have a stickied thread here in General Gaming, but the rough division is this: T1/Gold missions tend to be rough around the edges but have very atmospheric settings and bold ideas. T2 missions are more "solid" and various texture mods have sometimes ventured well beyond what can be considered 'Thief-like'. But in general, your taffing adventures have just begun... :)

Shit, I forgot about the pirate ghost. I grabbed that treasure and ran past him swiftly into the water, he was pretty tough if you tried fighting him.

I'm just starting on the first level of Thief Gold. Got everything set up the same as T2 including openal EAX sound. Made my way into the Lord's mansion and can already tell the maps will be much more expansive here if this is any indication. This is pretty damn big for an opening level especially compared to T2 though that game certainly had some large maps. Honestly I'll just be satisfied not having to deal with annoying mech's again.

No mechs in T1, but there are cameras - and they're nastier than the ones in T2.

Speaking of mechs, what did you think of the spider mech they snuck in at Soulforge?

Oh no, not cameras again. I wish you could just multitool them :argh:

I didn't have a problem with the spiders actually. There was even a large factory room full of them but they were easy to outrun, not very accurate once alerted. The bomb-throwing bots were much worse especially once they entered Terminator mode. Their accuracy was deadly. Had to make some mines to take out a bunch of them.

Don't forget the negromancer's tower in life of the party.

Since this is my first playthrough and I have no attachment to the original T1 aesthetics, I installed the majestic HD mod on top of TFix and no longer have to look at diarrhea textures. Making my way through the prison now, great stuff so far.

I though that you played Thief Gold before.
No mechs here but more undeads. Have fun.

Not just the undeads, but all the other fun critters he'll encounter.

BTW, Phantasmal if you've completed Cragscleft, you're free of the cameras for the rest of the game. You have plenty of other problems to deal with anyway. :)

Thanks for heads up. I probably should've played this first because I'm now encountering the Order of the Hammer which were referred to and mocked in Thief 2 as being too whiny.

It's Kouryuu Densetsu Villgust: Kieta Shoujo.
http://www.romhacking.net/translations/494/

It's very classic, almost a dungeon crawler.
I don't know if the game should be considered linear or not, it's what of those games where the world is nearly open, but the world design and the level system make you play it linearly.
There's no reason to play it, but no reason not to play it if one is intrigued about it.

Some good points :
- Some monsters are well designed, visually speaking.
- When you're much stronger than some enemies, they don't attack you anymore.

Some bad points :
- Dungeons are too basic, without any switch, enigma, etc...
- Battles are also very classic/basic, mostly attack and heal.

The lack of a notification sound when completing an objective in T1 is annoying :rpgcodex:

Also:

You weren't kidding. These are a headache. You don't even get a warning or chance to duck out of view before the sirens are sounded, at least with the cams in the prison area. Plus they're hard to even spot since I first thought they were just lights.
