Like all things, people overreact just to prove an unexisting point.
Especially since the whole point is that you can mess around with the settings until you find something that suits you. Some people overdo it, so what?
More like over 95% of people. The meme exists for a reason.

Yeah, because retards like yourself think their (retarded) opinions are fact. And said retards also happen to be in the vast minority. And resort to false arguments at that.

What would really help your argument is if you posted pictures that accurately represent that which the cat images displays, which I think would be a somewhat impossible task since it represent texture packs as tiling in 2D over what should be a tridimensional cat. :?

It's not like I can point to any surveys on this. ReShade/SweetFX just offers way too many options for the average user to handle. If used well it can enhance the graphics of some games. I've used it too (and have been guilty of overusing it in the past), with VtMB for example. But just take a look at the presets people have uploaded for that game, and prepare to vomit. They are all way too dark and bloomy, or use dumb gimmicks, or change the look of the game completely.

Also, have you tried Thief Gold with HD textures?

IMO ReShade is simply bad. Unlike ENBs, ReShade tends to make very little difference when installed. Force it to be more noticeable, and you get crap like that you linked to. I'm not saying you can't use it to make a game look better, but it will only be slightly better.

Thief Gold's HD texture pack is simply awful by any metric of the imagination. I'm guessing people only use it since they dislike the vanilla blurry textures a lot. While Morrowind had its fair share of ugly texture packs, it has come a long way. Not that I use any, though: unless a texture pack covers the entirety of the game, I'd prefer not to use any except on specific instances (e.g. make sign posts readable). But to imply texture packs as a whole resemble that Thief monstrosity is preposterous.

Fear 1 for HoMM 2.
Looks like things will get epic in this map:

So how over the top was this map?

My invincible hero:

Pirates attack:

Oh dear, that's one bad mofo:

And to really rub it in:

A Pyrrhic victory:

But then John Silver turns up:

Pretty ridicilous.
No Ghosts in this map. I could have created an army of skeletons at one point, but even thousands of skellies are too weak for against such opposition.
And there's no way I'm going to hit the End Turn button a thousand times to build a matching army.

And this map was made by a girl!

Turns out this girl - Daniela Stieh - also made The Lord of War, the (in)famous HoMM 3 map, which is next on my play list. :shredder:

The odds looks a bit better in The Lord of War:

There weren't all that many interactions IIRC between dark and light mode in Dark Earth, but I loved the feature. French games seemed to have a fondness for letting you choose to be a wife-beater. LBA even let you get away with it.

Overall one of most enjoyable games I've played recently and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes cute girls, fun melee combat and existential melodrama. Also, I hadn't played a single NieR/Drakengard title before starting this and it really makes no difference - they're more part of the same universe/thematic circle than sequels/prequels, so don't let that hold you back from jumping in.
If you liked this, you should try the original Nier. Combat isn't nearly as much fun, but the melodrama's just as good, if not better. And while it's true that playing it is by no means mandatory to enjoy Automata, there are a bunch of references and continued story arcs.

Meh, it's too much trouble for me to play Gestalt or Replicant. I can't be bothered to buy a PS3 or 360 when there are plenty of other PS1/PS2 classics I can emulate.

edit: Oh for fucks sake those fucks

I played the original Nier.
It has similar systems to Automata but everything is clunkier - there's no that PlatinumGames smoothness to it.
But, the original has a bit of a reputation of being "Japanese Planescape Torment" - there are definitively interesting parallels between the two games.
I doubt that was deliberate, Yoko Taro's English language skills are nonexistent and his mind is just weird. Like waaaaaaaaaaaay weird. Which is cool!

Anyway, play it if you want more Nier

I just finished Ending A of Drakengard, actually. Pretty meh but not horrible. I'm gonna be playing Soul Calibur VI for a while but I might go back to get another couple of endings at some point. Haven't decided what to do next - Drakengard 2 was retconned to be a different timeline to D1/3/N/N:A but aside from the lack of Taro, it does have most of the same writers and key team members so I might continue with that. Whilst Drakengard 3 is apparently pretty much fine on RPCS3, I've read that Nier still has pretty bad audio unless you run it in software mode, so I might hold off on the rest of the series until that's patched a bit.

Yeah, I played the original on RPCS3 and there were some audio issues such as slight noise or crackling.
In some areas it was more pronounced and in others I didn't even notice it... it all depends on your rig actually.

I haven't played Drakengards yet but I definitively shall .. I'm blown away by Taro's work honestly

1 is pretty mediocre. From what I read in an interview, it started out as a fantasy Ace Combat clone but after Dynasty Warriors broke sales records in Japan a DW clone mode where you brainlessly hack/air juggle hundreds of cannon fodder was added. I disliked the Dragon mode at first but after getting to grips with the dodge/accelerate and quick-turn controls I started to enjoy some of the missions (e.g. when fighting the giant cyclops-esque monsters). The only "RPG" element is that you level up and can replay missions with different objectives/time limits to grind xp or get new weapons for the joke (Nier) ending.

Hehe that's probably one of the few things I still remember from the game.
The setting was pretty cool, some sort of post-apocalypse with the Sun being fucked up?
