In the Britain cemetery near the haunted house is a grave for Lord Brinne. "Lord Brinne" was the screen name of Bill Iburg, a prominent and vivid member of the Ultima Horizons community who died mere months prior to the game's release. Touched by his passing and the outpouring of grief online, Richard Garriott and the Ultima IX team created this in-game memorial for him. Lord Brinne also received dedications in Might and Magic VIII, Deus Ex and Morrowind.

Ashes of Lord Brinne, located in Samarys Ancestral Tomb. There is also the Mentor's Ring in this urn. Lord Brinne was the online name of Bill Iburg, an Elder Scrolls fan who died unexpectedly during the development of Morrowind. The urn, and his ashes, were placed in the game as a tribute. Lord Brinne also received similar tributes in other games that were in development at the time: Might and Magic VIII, Deus Ex and Ultima IX: Ascension.

The Tomb of Lord Brinne is a secret dungeon in Might and Magic VIII: Day of the Destroyer. It is located in the Ravenshore region. Lord Brinne was the online name of Bill Iburg, a Might and Magic fan who was active on the 3DO forums. When he died during the development of Might and Magic VIII, the dungeon was created as a tribute to him. Lord Brinne received similar tributes in other RPGs developed at the time. His ashes can be found in Morrowind, his tombstone in Deus Ex, and his grave in Ultima IX: Ascension.
