Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
More Tomb Raider Remastered comparison shots.

The Cistern is the first level where I can say, yeah, they did a good job capturing the original vibe with the new graphics. It looks a little different but definitely captures the same vibe.

The pool room in Lara's home also looks quite good, but... again there's a questionable texture choice here.
The original had something along the wall that looked like a mosaic or a fresco.
The new texture is just a marble relief, lacking the original's color and looking out of place.

Two small itch.io games by the same dude : Shakedown, a mini rally game in a custom engine with good looking sights :

And Interminal, where you wander aimlessly in an infinite airport terminal, which makes for a surprisingly nice experience :

Unity masquerading as Build Engine. My CPU fans were not amused.

Portal: Revolution

Great looking Portal 2 mod with simple puzzles.

Ok, the character model doesn't look that great.

I liked this puzzle because you don't see many test chambers that use the sphere (and use it well).

No, thanks, I'm good.

Portal Stories: Mel

Let's have some brain teasers. This small room with two cubes at the beginning is already harder than anything I've seen in Revolution. :oops: I can hear the rusty Portal gears turning in my head.

There's still Portal: Reloaded on my list. Maybe next time when I'm in Portal mood. I've heard the timeline gimmick is too convoluted for its own good.

"Run silent" + "Vision enhancement" break the game fantastically:

:dance:

Time to take out the 2nd pile of obsolete trash:

AI tells it how it is:

THE bomb!

Vandenberg?

It's snipin' time!

How can you NOT take Regeneration?
Also the Speed Enhancement is just plain better than Run Silent.

BioMod readme said:
Q: Does BioMod make the game easier?

A: Yes and no. Some things have been made easier, while others are harder. Regeneration for example was massively overpowered in the original game, but is significantly less so with BioMod.
Regeneration
============
Type: Automatic
Cost: 300 Units/Minute while healing
Description: Regeneration is now automatic, only using energy when it is actually healing you. However, there's now a delay between when you get hurt and when the healing kicks in. If you want instant healing you'll have to use a medkit. It's also a lot less efficient than it was before.
Speed Enhancement
=================
Type: Active
Cost: 40 Units/Minute
Description: Speed Enhancement no longer allows you move silently at high speeds. You can still "crouchrun", but it'll make a racket.
Run Silent
==========
Type: Passive
Description: In addition to being made passive, run silent now reduces sounds made while jumping as well as running, similar to its counterpart in Invisible War.

A-ha, that makes sense.
But it's still pretty fucked up that a modder takes it upon himself to "balance" shit...
Fuck you, leave the game as it is, just stick to fixing bugs and improving stability.
Regeneration is still pretty OP though...

Death By Degrees

Action adventure game for PS 2 with Nina Williams from Tekken series as the protagonist? I was intrigued, and tried it myself. We've got static camera angles like in Resident Evil series, but for the most of the time we can use manual TPP view as well. We control Nina mostly with analogue sticks - left is for movement and right is for combat. It took me some time to get used to it. What doesn't help here, is the usual problems with camera. If you move too far from one screen, you enter another one, changing the directions for the player.

There is light RPG element, because with all the combos we make, we add points that can be changed to useful upgrades, like longer combos, special movement, better usage of melee and range weapons. Adding stun batons, swords and guns was a good move, since enemies can overwhelm you easily later on, when their numbers are higher. We also encounter some puzzles and we gather a lot of items such as health kits and battle enhancers. But there isn't any space limit, so everything you find is yours to take immediately.

Game is rather small in scope, since we basically are operating on a ship and a prison. Thankfully backtracking is being kept to minimum, if you have a good memory, and there is also a map available as well. The most rage inducing for me though were the obligatory sniping sections. They were too long and the gamepad controls didn't feel precise. Plus we also change to first person mode while venturing through some ventilation shafts. And least used change of gameplay - Stingray, where we use a small floating device to push some button or read a password.

Overall it was ok - the story is rather banal, but if you are a fan of Tekken it will suffice for you. There are some boss battles included as well, to spice things up. Namco put a lot of effort to animate Nina, and her english voice actress is Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, who I recognized from Silent Hill 2 and 3. Visually it holds up really well, if you enhance the graphics via emulation. Soundtrack is really good - the calm tracks during the exploration especially. If you are a Tekken fan, you should at least try it.
