Well, I'm pretty sure that the game is not 100% playable with KB + M. It's like 50% or some other percentage.

Deflect is probably the most important action in this game (after attack) and in addition to that you have to TAP it!! :)

For controller users: L1 - deflect, R1 - attack.

Therefore a controller user will use his both hands and it will have his left index finger on the deflect button and the right index finger on the right mouse button.

For KB + M users: Left Mouse Button = Attack, Right Mouse Button = Deflect.

Therefore a KB + M user will use only one hand and it will have his right index finger on the left mouse button and his right middle finger on the right mouse button.

It's obvious that you have way better coordination with a controller not to mention the fact that tapping with the right middle finger is absolutly retarded.

This was not a real problem in DaS games because they did not require you to tap the parry button but this shit does.

Solution 1: Map the deflect button to another key. Good luck with that.

Solution 2: Get a PS4 controller.

In other words, use a controller unless you want to lose your marbles like I did. You can survive the game but deflect tap is required for the last boss.

Just play like him mang.

I didn't have ANY trouble playing with KB&M. You can also switch an option in the menu to show you KB&M prompts on everything, tutorials, menus instead of controller keys.

I tried KBM but the directional control you have over the character is utterly intolerable. Either it didn't bother me back in the day when I finished DS1, DS2 and DS3 with KBM or it's particularly bad in Sekiro. Plus the mouse camera control feels definitely off, way worse than in DS3 for example.

I finished the game with KbM. I did not say it's impossible but there were moments where I wish I was playing with a controller. That's all.

Started a second play-through. This is more like a leisure run as I don't plan to rush to the end.

I have to admit that it's nice to be able to kill the Shinobi Hunter 1st try. Or fuck around Gyobu :)

I've decided to end my play-through because I simply don't want to invest more time in this game anymore. It's pointless when the fun is gone. Game uninstalled.

Anyone fought Owl Father on NG+ yet?

Hardest fight in the game, hands down.
only done on a regular NG so far, was one of the tougher ones I suppose but I'd done 3 run throughs so not too much trouble at this point. The attack where he throws spark power while backstepping then follows up with a charge thrust looks amazing, happiest one shot I've received. I've done a NG+, but not one where I knew how to get to him. I can see some of his long combos being a bitch with the increased posture damage I know you take in NG+ as they almost broke my guard with 3ish hits even in NG. Might beeline to him on the completed game I have sitting around later.

Doing another NG without Kuro's charm for the first time now. Had one death to a chicken who jumped me while I was homewarding, bastard of a game.

Somehow I felt he does a bit less posture damage than regular Owl, still a lot tho. But the biggest problem is his HP pool, it's a big dick endurance test. When I ran into him my memory of my 6 hours long fight with Isshin was still raw so I didn't have the patience for another gig like this.

Bayonetta is gud mang. Of Most "spectacle fights" it's both highly friendly to new comers and people who like the depth these games provide. DMC is better though.

Meh, they're pretty different games in terms of how they feel.

In Bayonetta you'll struggle, in DMC you'll struggle to die even once in a single campaign. Despite resembling each other so heavily I find they are barely comparable.

Right after beating the God Hand campaign I was looking for more and tried DMC4, game was so easy I couldn't stand it. First boss was some giant flaming demon thing and I could beat it without taking any damage. Moved to Bayonetta and that game pushed my shit in on the reg. Exactly what I was looking for.

I like DMC5 a lot more than 4 but still, it's nowhere near being a platinum game.

Altho I'm sure Vaati will tell you exactly who he is, where he came from and what he had for breakfast.

which would be fine if he didnt sound like he wanted to suck me off very emotionally while explaining it.

videos like this only proves you need no easy mode in FromSoft games. There is fuckton of ways to steamroll pretty much everything unless you are a fucking game journalist and spam block and R1 all the time.

That's why you have DMD.
DMC also has more depth to the combat, Bayonetta relies to much on QTE's and button mashing.
Not saying it isn't fun but one is obviously better than the other.

 also on my 2nd run

I need 7 runs to know if the game is good or bad. Also I've cheesed Isshin and Corrupted Monk the last time (x2 damage).

Honestly, I don't have alternatives atm. Outward looks like a walk-sim, Risk of Rain 2 is garbage ... maybe Operencia (!?).

Lady Butterfly fight is really good (beat her 2nd try). The asshole from the pit went down in 2 tries as well.

But I still died like 5 times on the Spear General. The camera is a real nightmare on that fight.

I'm trying to get as good as possible before encountering Genichiro (currently Vit 13 Attack 13).

The game experience is different when you master at least a little bit the mechanics and the frustration is gone.

However I cannot say that I dig the combat system: for each good idea there is something retarded.

To be honest: I lowered the graphic settings for constant 60 fps and I muted the music. This is much better.

Well, the monk is getting patched for sure, with most other mobs firecrackers work only every 15 secs or so I think. And second not every boss is susceptible to cheese. Not saying I want an Easy mode ofc, just saying.

I tried with the horse and the bull, you cant spam them.

2 times? how? Or do you mean cheats?

also is it worth it to get the dragon mask, how much skill do I have to invest for attackpower?

You need about 3 New Games to get enough points to buy and try all skills. So unless you're already a pro and know which skills you want and which ones you can skip you'll probably use the mask only from NG4 onwards.

so far none of the active skills seemed worthwhile, granted I only tried the whirlwind, overheadslash and the nightjar jump.

Did every sidethingy in the game, and after three hours worth of maning up took Sword Saints head.

Brilliant game, brilliant combat. Sure, you might complain cuz the lack of customization/multiple weapons, but the point is that they could never design a combat system with such deep boss design if you had multiple weapon styles available. The game does offer a decent amount of customization thanks to prosthetics/combat arts tho (even tho it seems combat arts aint all that balanced, i cant imagine anything being better than double ichimonji)

Yeah, kindda, but I only know that now, in NG3. So from the PoV of a first time player it's pointless to sink 5k gold in a mask part in the early game.

Btw the relative uselessness of active skills is a problem IMO. Some of them have a stiff emblem cost attached, are slow and don't do that much more damage than just R1 spam. I've seen people was lyrical about Ichimanji but I think it's hot garbage. Same for basically everything else. Maybe Praying Strikes have some use since you can insta-interrupt any mob with them (so far that I tested).

EDIT: I didn't react to you v1rus with the Ichimanji comment, it was a coincidence. I always thought this move isn't good - for the reasons I gave, it's slow and not that much more effective - and yesterday I watched Vaati, he said the same.
