Working on the kerning in some places yet:

Thanks for the support guys! :salute::salute::salute:

We'll be doing some video playthroughs of the new patch 2.0 areas and content alongside releasing it, so you can get out a more detailed look at the gameplay then.

Thank you for,

  • Taking your kickstarter project seriously. Unlike certain other devs who outright abbandoned their project or did some other bait and switch scheme.
  • For the extremely fast replies when I made a fuck up in the 23 dollar upgrade. Some AAA companies have taken me a week to get a reply.
  • For being a part of the cRPG golden age.
Edit: And thanks for what seems to be a lack of DRM. Nice to know when devs actually trust their consumers. I have nothing but positive impressions thus far, if this keeps up, I might update it to 60 dollars in total.

I'm really impressed by the communication, and potential awesome that you two are providing. Every backer update leaves me wanting to play this game more. The art has such a beautiful style, and watching the game evolve so quickly is astonishing.

Is there an estimate for length? I don't care if it's 15 or 50 hours as long as it's fun. I'm just shocked at how well managed this project appears at face value.

Shouldn't that be "30 XP gained"? Looks totally awesome.

Thanks! We emulated a 3D-rendered-to-2D isometric style for characters and animations, trying to make it as least offensive as possible.

Our initial estimation in the design was ~20 hours (though we can't be for certain until a month or so from now when we have all the encounters in the end game areas), though there's certainly more content than that, and once you know how to end it you could attempt shorter or longer endings with more options on how to complete it.

Depending on how Serpents does, the expansion we're starting post launch should be similar by our initial design, and include an additional 5 levels and grade 4 skills/spells.

Thanks! Yeah, we went back and forth on that. "Gain" is shorter and takes up less of that valuable space, and technically kind of correct, but gained certainly sounds better. We'll change that for 2.0.

20 hours isn't that bad anyways. Especially considering hte asking price.

I would rather have a 20 hour game that is fun to play. Than a 100 hour game that drags on, padding itself out with collect 20 bear asses quests and copy paste encounter design. A good 20 hour game will make me replay it over and over. A padded out one will make me uninstall after 5 hours.

I rather have a quality 20 hour game that manages to entertain me throughout the experience than a game that overstays it welcome with padded actities (here is looking at Alíen Isolation) trash combat or mindless back and forth fedex
Perhaps someone could add the oficial site to the front page for late pledges.
Oh and kudos on the demo idea, the best advertising in the world is a taste of your product, hopefully the release will be simultaneous in Steam and gog; still waiting for Bastión and Transistor to show up somewhere other than steam

Just bought the game based on nothing but Codex hype. You guys better not be responsible for my lack of enjoyment, else I will be leaving this place forever.

How does this compare in terms of content, quests and writing in regards to other similarly sized projects (in scope) like underrail for example?

Game is looking awesome, but I'm a big fan of having some decent content to motivate me to explore that gloriously pixilated world.

I don't wtf this game even is but I just threw down $20 on it. This cesspool seems to be high on it, the couple who designed it don't look like mutants (I would have expected them to look really gross and not want to give them my money), and it's cheap with a DRM free linux version.

I'm on the edge of throwing money at the devs just because they seem to be such level-headed bros with a clear focus on what they're doing and the know-how to do it. A welcome contrast to the current culture in game development.

That being said, Im still not sure if this is the type of game I'd like or not. Is there any estimate on when the demo will be available?

I was hoping for the game to be really long and epic but hey, what can you expect from a two person dev team. Also, the extent to which the game is replayable really matters on top of the ~20 hour gameplay time. Also, expansion would help in the long term. I hope I can just fool around in-game as well like in Darklands and to a certain extent BG, through side quests and such. Anyways, #1 on my list most importantly because there is a sense of integrity in these debs and from what I've seen it looks lovingly crafted.

I notice that people have been using those codex avatars I made out of the serpent in the staglands portraits. I recently got access to the beta and remade the portraits, so they look better and there are a lot more now. Check it out I guess.
