the recent years trend for FPS campaign are pretty all doom-like / copying fast paced arcadey 90's shooter. i kinda really want a slower paced shooter campaigns. are there even any the past recent years?

what i like:
stalker series
metro series
sniper elite
all the modern imsim games i.e eidos deus ex or arkane's prey/ deathloop etc.
black mesa

boomer shooters are getting too fast for me it's actually exhausting to play for a long time. i last like 30 minutes per session. the thread is basically inspired by playing stalker anomaly, which is great but gets boring because the quests are all repeatable even in "story mode" and there are just little bits of plot and main goal there, which this kind of gameplay rarely motivates me to play trough a game.

The Far Cry games are slow-paced enough that I can keep up. They do have a lot of knickknacks they want you to collect, which wears me out after a while. Far Cry Primal doesn't even have guns.

i played SS 2, not 1 though.
bioshocks are all ok. never played metroid prime either.

i'll probably check out the RE games later ,etc. i heard good things about titanfall 2 campaign.

as for chernobylite, isn't it survival focused instead of a campaign?
borderlands are pretty boring. i played 1 and 2 with my brother, but that's it. it's sorta fun with a friend but if you're alone it's just dull

Its a stealth and survival game with base building (well, technically you can shoot too, but its IMO not the optimal way to play), but there is heavy storyfaggotry and long campaign with both story and side missions.

Make the Codex Great Again!
Clive Barker's Jericho? It's a pretty linear FPS that's best described as a cross between Republic Commando and Wolfenstein 2009.

It's a meme to knock the series after it rushed a million sequels out the door, but Modern Warfare still holds up.

I recommend the first Call of Juarez(2006). It's an excellent mix of straightforward action and slower paced sections with stealth. The few adventuring sections are also good and reminded me of classic action/adventure movies like Indiana Jones. Overall an excellent single player game. Chrome(2003) is also decent and has large levels where you can choose your own approach.

Everything good was already mentioned. Do you have game pass? You might enjoy Halo, especially because the AI is pretty good, much better than in most modern shooters. If you play on higher difficulties, it will be engaging and fun, if that's what you're looking for. No one plays shooters for the story, anyway. And since you're limited to two weapons, it's not fast paced.

FEAR - awesome. One of my favorites. Play it, nigger.
FEAR 2 i guess. Just an ok game compared to it's predecessor. Still there are some good moments.
Clive Barkers Undying is good. 20 years ago back when EA actually published good games.
Nosferatu: The Wrath of Malachi.
Condemned: Criminal Origins. It's pretty much first person bum fights game with horror and less of a shooter, because you can't rely on guns in this game and have to crush skulls instead. I can't say i enjoyed it, but i really dig the setting and story. It has a sequel "Bloodshot", but cunts only made it for 360 peasant box.
I guess i should mention Zeno Clash games too. Not exactly shooter, because again you dont rely on guns much and will be beating fantasy subhumans up most of the time.
Darkness 2. Decent game, but too short. The action is worth it. Not really slow paced but nowhere near boomer shooters either.
Bioshock. Only liked the first one. You probably played it.
Venom: Codename Outbreak a sci fi shooter. It was made by Stalker devs before Stalker. Unique game thats for sure. A tactical team of two shooter, you can give orders to your partner, your weapon is pretty much an omni-gun that you can transfrom into a sniper rifle, shotgun etc. Obviously an old game so it would be a bitch to run on modern pc.
TimeShift a decent fps game despite it's shortcomings. But i like Singularity better.
And also Gun from Activision.
XIII maybe? The old one. Don't play the remake.
Terminator: Resistance.
Ghost Recon. The old ones were good. Haven't played Advanced Warfighter 1-2 and Future Soldier was shitty and third person game.
Delta Force games if you want something really ancient.
Project IGI
SWAT 4. One of my favorite shooters.
Ready or Not. Kinda like SWAT 4. People say it's good.
Clive Barkers Jericho. I like it despite everything.
Rage, but it has mandatory driving and it's fucking boring.
Thief games are as slow as you can go. Good stuff.
