Huge amounts of butthurt over at rpg.net for the playtest characters being 'pedophiles' (one of the play test characters can only feed from children and young people ) rpg.net also has been butthurt over vamp 5e for a while due to one of the writers being someone they hate (that D&D with pornstars guy, ZakS) and because one of the devs (perhaps the same guy) made a triggering joke some months ago and apparently made it again somewhere in the playtest docs ( in one of the pregen characters backstories I think)

rpg.net has become utterly insufferable. And I mean utterly.

A: The term Club Kid (at least in Sweden) means a youngish (roughly 18-25) person who spends all their free time at clubs, often under the influence of drugs.
Literally never heard of in the entirety of my life. These faggots are projecting their subculture.

* Disciplines and Feeding will work by the "You are what you eat"-philosophy.
* The game (and it's mechanics?) will treat humans not as blood bags but as individuals that matter.

Are we opening up some Hep-V bullshit like how later seasons got fucked with in True Blood? Because that is what I am reading here. I don't like it.

White Wolf Entertainment and DriveThruRPG Launch “Storytellers Vault”, a Creators Content Program for Vampire: The Masquerade

svrelease.jpg

Stockholm, Sweden – August 11, 2017 White Wolf Entertainment, creator of the World of Darkness and Vampire: The Masquerade are partnering with DriveThruRPG to allow independent content creators to publish material set in the World of Darkness using the Storytellers Vault.

For over a quarter century, fans of the World of Darkness have aspired to bring their own unique World of Darkness creations to the masses, and now they can as part of the Storytellers Vault, White Wolf’s new creator content program. Beginning with Vampire: The Masquerade, aspiring writers, artists, and game designers can publish their non-canonical table top RPG supplements and fiction stories worldwide in the language of their choosing, and making half of the revenue as their royalty. To assist content creators making the best possible products, Storytellers Vault offers a considerable variety of graphical layout tools including pre-made design templates, and art-packs to choose from.

“World of Darkness fans have always shared their stories with the world, and now is the time we help them to do that in an even greater scale” says CEO Tobias Sjögren. “The magic of the Storytellers Vault is supporting fans that love and want to create content from all eras of our games, we can’t wait to see what they produce and how everyone enjoys it!”

The Storytellers Vault features:

  • Self-publish service for table top RPG material set using any of the four previously published editions of Vampire: The Masquerade
  • Content creators themselves set the price for the material they publish and receive 50% of the revenue
  • Access to over 15 templates and art packs produced helps content creators make their work look as professional as the official products from any set era
  • Publishing in any language supporting the vast global World of Darkness community
  • Additional content supporting other game lines and historical settings in the White Wolf catalogue will be progressively unlocked beginning in October 2017
The Storytellers Vault is now available at www.storytellersvault.com.

Has anyone been keeping up? Alpha playtest kit has been out for a while.
http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/221973/Rusted-Veins-V5-Alpha-Playtest

This is the Vampire The Masquerade 5th Edition Alpha playtest kit. There are two versions, one for players that contains just the rules and pregenerated characters, and one for Storytellers, that contains rules, characters, NPCs, and the "Rusted Veins" playtest scenario.

What Is An Alpha Slice?

An "Alpha slice" is a proof-of-concept document that covers the most basic foundations of the rules. It is isn't a complete game: it's a limted snapshot of the game's current development state, and it includes ideas that are still conceptual, still in development, and that can change.

How can you help us?

It's our goal to honor the history and fans of this groundbreaking game, and also to expand its audience, giving new players a chance to experience and fall in love with Vampire The Masquerade.

Start by reading the Alpha slice, but what we most need is for you to play these rules in an actual live tabletop situations, and then describe your experience to us. You'll find some important changes from previous editions (like the Hunger rules), and we want to know what you think and feel about how they play.

Yeah, that's some nice BS.

Anyway, from what I saw and hear the Flaw-Hunger-Blood mechanics sounds nice. It removes the fucking metagame aspect the previous versions had with their "how much blood points do you drink?" and the like.

Has anyone read the damn thing? I can't bring myself after giving it a cursory glance and seeing the damn layouts. Also, clan information acquired from everyone's favorite image board:

Seems like absolute waste of page real estate. You waste two out of meager four pages on artwork? Get diablerized, lick.

The mechanics are great. Better than previous versions. They are a little more complicated but not so much.

They failed so hard with Requiem being banal shit boring, that they have to resurrect VtM? Also, was there a 4th edition?

Anyone could have seen this coming. They dumbed down the system (which was simple enough) by adapting the Theatre of the Mind system to the tabletop, and although there is an overlap, LARPers and tabletop players are different groups (btw, I still have to meet a sane V:TM LARPer).

The V:TM fans' needs have already been satisfied by V20, which brought back a lot of material from the golden age. V5 is a product nobody needed, as there is a superior product already in the market. You can compare it to L5R 5th, which also has a pretty hardcore fanbase. L5R 4th is the superior game, IMHO, but it is out of print, and the 5th edition manual is so well done I will probably end up buying it anyway. Can't say the same about V5, which is dumbed down and full of SJW shit that wasn't there in the good old days.

The markets have spoken, and L5R has gone gold in Driverhrurpg, whereas V5 has just gone silver, which is underwhelming for a product with high expectations for which Paradox has been drumming up support for the last few years, and that has incurred in high development costs by hiring a lot of has-beens from the golden age and a bunch of fanboys (the latter, I suspect, were the critical failure factor).

Because of the aforementioned cost overruns Paradox has been looking for an excuse to decapitate White Wolf (which blue haired fairies being what they are, they'd provide sooner than later), and the Chechen debacle was it.

A Message From White Wolf
Hello everyone,

My name is Shams Jorjani, VP of Business Development at Paradox Interactive and interim manager at White Wolf Publishing. I wanted to inform you of some changes that will be implemented at White Wolf, starting immediately.

Sales and printing of the V5 Camarilla and Anarch books will be temporarily suspended. The section on Chechnya will be removed in both the print and PDF versions of the Camarilla book. We anticipate that this will require about three weeks. This means shipping will be delayed; if you have pre-ordered a copy of Camarilla or Anarchs, further information will follow via e-mail.

In practical terms, White Wolf will no longer function as a separate entity. The White Wolf team will be restructured and integrated directly into Paradox Interactive, and I will be temporarily managing things during this process. We are recruiting new leadership to guide White Wolf both creatively and commercially into the future, a process that has been ongoing since September.

Going forward, White Wolf will focus on brand management. This means White Wolf will develop the guiding principles for its vision of the World of Darkness, and give licensees the tools they need to create new, excellent products in this story world. White Wolf will no longer develop and publish these products internally. This has always been the intended goal for White Wolf as a company, and it is now time to enact it.

The World of Darkness has always been about horror, and horror is about exploring the darkest parts of our society, our culture, and ourselves. Horror should not be afraid to explore difficult or sensitive topics, but it should never do so without understanding who those topics are about and what it means to them. Real evil does exist in the world, and we can’t ever excuse its real perpetrators or cheapen the suffering of its real victims.

In the Chechnya chapter of the V5 Camarilla book, we lost sight of this. The result was a chapter that dealt with a real-world, ongoing tragedy in a crude and disrespectful way. We should have identified this either during the creative process or in editing. This did not happen, and for this we apologize.

Jesus Christ, random LotfP-based heartbreakers or free pdfs on drivethru have better art quality and layout than this :negative:

I have the pdfs but have only briefly checked them so far, am waiting for the paper copies to arrive. Though I've noticed a block on "personal pronouns", duh.
The art design is mediocre imo, it consists of those freaky cosplayers who are way too glamour and angst to look anything like actual vampires in a dark and gritty world are supposed to look. The rest of the art is 2/3 stock photos, 1/3 random misstyled commissions.
The only thing I bothered to read so far is that section which is going to be censored. It's really cringy, but nothing special, everything WW ever wrote on Russia (and I hear pretty much every non-US country) has been of the similar quality, so I don't see what the big fuss is about.

p.s. the new Kult books are much better imo, check them out.

Vampire Modiphius Partnership

Hello again, everyone.

I am delighted to inform you all that we have reached an agreement with Modiphius Entertainment to manage, publish, and guide the Vampire RPG product line going forward. As of today, Modiphius will take over the creation of new products within the Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition line, while White Wolf will move into a brand management role to ensure these books and games fit elegantly into the World of Darkness. We’re glad to have the Modiphius team steering V5 into the future, and full details on their new role — and new books coming soon — are available in a press release here.

This new arrangement goes into effect immediately following the publishing of the Camarilla and Anarch books. As promised, the section on Chechnya that previously appeared in the Camarilla book has been removed from both the print and digital versions, and replaced with new content. All pre-orders for these books, as well as the Anarch books, will now be fulfilled, and we expect delivery to be complete as soon as possible, with all orders estimated to be filled by early Q1 2019. I want to again thank all pre-order customers for their patience during this process.

Once all existing pre-order commitments are finished, both the Camarilla and Anarch books will no longer be available for sale in print or in digital form. White Wolf is moving away from internal development and publishing, and this is part of that process. The creation and sale of these books would not happen under the incarnation of White Wolf that we are building — the creation, production, and editorial oversight of such products is now entirely run by Modiphius Entertainment and their partners. Until then, we’ve made promises to customers and partners who have pre-ordered these books, and we feel a strong obligation to fulfill those commitments as they were made. Those orders will be filled, and then we will focus entirely on working with licensees who will create the White Wolf products yet to come.

I see White Wolf in the future as a company that will continue steering the World of Darkness as the setting for incredible experiences that both entertain and challenge our players, but with strong editorial leadership, and more guidance and input from a broader set of voices. There needs to be new leadership for this new direction, and we believe Modiphius will be an integral part of this process with regards to Vampire, but there are more steps still to be taken for the World of Darkness and White Wolf as a whole.

In the last few weeks, many of you have reached out to share your opinions, and it’s been enlightening to see just how many differing viewpoints there are on where the World of Darkness ought to go next. I’m glad there are so many of you who feel strongly on the subject, because as mentioned, we are looking for someone to lead White Wolf into its next chapter. I’ve placed a job ad for a new Brand Manager at White Wolf: someone who will lead the marketing and creative sides of the company. This person will be the most senior member of the White Wolf team, and they will report directly to me at Paradox Interactive.

If you think you’re the right person for the job, and you want to do justice to these amazing brands, please apply. Have a look and send your application here: (https://career.paradoxplaza.com/jobs/154773-brand-manager-white-wolf)

SJWs just dropping White Wolf like a dirty shirt. That's sad. I had some good times with V:TM back in the trenchcoat and bad trap music days of the late 90's. I'm aware of how shitty it all is now but you could of just fired the cling on reprobates and brought back the old guard like Mike Hagan and the Onyx Path lot.
