So I'm thinking of making a small 'campaign' that has no story, no dialogue, just combat and gold economy. Central hub town, randomized vendors, randomized locations, and randomized encounters within those locations. Random loot drops, skill checks on props for random loot/gold. But restricting long resting so it uses the attrition system. Starts at level 1. Maybe 2.

Vague ideas of how I'd build it. But probably quicker to make without having dialogue. Just a ton of map making mostly, with hidden quests to randomly select them.

Strap Yourselves In Serpent in the Staglands Shadorwun: Hong Kong Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
I'm tempted to give Lost Valley 10/10 solely because I am not running out of elves to kill. So many elves especially in the secret prison.
Honestly it's got a better plothook compared to the crown of the magefag, and the jungle vibes is nice.
And not long after a room full of elf casters.

Done with Lost Valley and Caer Falcarn. The dungeon thing wasn't anything special. Lost Valley was definitely more endearing than Crown of magefag. Guess once I'm done with Dun Cuin it's finally time to take a crack at custom maps.
If the OC is 6/10, Lost Valley is 6.5/10. (Real lost valley rating 11/10 will bully all the elves again)
The dungeon maker is kinda deceptive though. You think you're making a huge area but it barely spans three screens when you take it for a spin.

I never did play Caer Falcarn or Dun Cuin. As far as I know they were dev created DM maps to show off the feature when it was first implemented. Can make small/medium/large maps in the DM but if you fill a large map with detail it'll begin to load slow even in the DM portion, not just playtesting. But with high density content it will feel large. Worth the loading issues imo. I have a mix of all three in my campaigns.

I gave up on this, too many fresh user campaigns coming out for this to be worthwhile at the moment. Now I'm thinking about putting out separate versions of Forsaken Isle and Morrows Deep that are balanced for six man parties. 90% of the work is already done, probably more worthwhile time spent on that unless I can't get the balancing right or even close to it.

There's a number of great looking modules out there for this now. Pretty impressive, really. Just wish I didn't have to own all the DLC to play the majority of them. Guess I'll have to wait until they're all bundled together cheap somewhere in a year or two. They're just not worth it at full price for me.

If you really get into user modules you will get hundreds of hours out of the game. If you get into making campaigns yourself, you can be like me and have 941.4 hours according to steam.

Yeah I like what I see but I'm going to hold out for a GOTY edition. I can't imagine they have any other big expansions down the line.

I'm 99.9% sure they have another official campaign, or something of decent scale, coming this year. I don't know any details though.

Published a six man party version of The Forsaken Isle. Cuz why have only four when you can have six:

Made a lot of changes to accommodate this. Custom monsters went from 43 to 163. Lots of areas had layout and prop changes since there are way more enemies per encounter. The witch hut is entirely new, the old one was scrapped. Some battles were combined into one, some areas have new encounters. Only one extra custom weapon, didn't want to go overboard on item/economy changes, so not much of those. I had a lot of fun with it. More than the four man version. Wasn't sure how the difficulty would hold up but at least for me, it was better.

I'm super pumped for the new campaign, the dungeon maker improvements, and the increased level cap, but...

He's released at least two custom campaigns, though, which I suspect took a bit of time...

The Forsaken Isle was 220 hours from scratch to publish, then more time spent patching and playtesting beyond that. Then more time on the six man version.
Morrows Deep was probably 250 hours from scratch to publish, same deal. And now working on the six man version.
Most of that 1k+ hours is spent listening to music/podcasts in the DM. I've been 'playing' it since last July. And yes, when I was a weird child I used to play with legos alone in my room and built things so special I had to show mom.

Wait, they're allowing six party members now?
Gotta be on PC and use the Unfinished Business mod on github. Its pretty extensive for a mod. Lots of people adding to it with more subclasses, feats, and functionality. It also auto patches itself on game startup. Been very impressed with it as far as making the game feel fresh. Can do five man parties too.

SOLASTA: PALACE OF ICE DLC ANNOUNCED FOR MAY 2023!

Hey hey people,

Around New Year, we said that we were working on something big... And you've been patient. Very patient! Now, it is finally time for us to reveal the new upcoming DLC: Palace of Ice. By far the biggest update we've worked on so far, Palace of Ice is not only a new adventure - it is the continuation and the conclusion of the Crown of the Magister campaign.

Palace of Ice DLC coming up May 2023

As Caer Cyflen rejoice over the Soraks' defeat in the Badlands, the Snow Alliance cries for help.
With the Kingdom of Gallivan suddenly declaring war on their neighbours, there is little doubt that these insidious creatures have agents everywhere – and that they always had contingency plans well prepared.

The Palace of Ice DLC is a high level 10 to 16 campaign that will take your party into the frozen lands of the Snow Alliance. The allies of Caer Cyflen need your help now more than ever, for Soraks are not the only foes that have been sighted lately. Other ancestral creatures have joined the battle, and there is little hope for victory without experienced adventurers to face them.

Don't forget to wishlist Palace of Ice on Steam to help spread the word!

This adventure features:

  • 2 New Ancestries. The Gnome and the Tiefling will become available in the Character Creator!
  • A continuation of the Crown of the Magister Campaign. Unveil the Soraks’ master plan and put an end to this threat once and for all!
  • Returning faces. Import your save file from a previous campaign to continue playing your previous party at higher levels, and meet characters from both CotM and the Ruins of Telema demo! Note that you can also create new characters if you so desire, as they will start at level 10 in Palace of Ice.
  • High-level encounters. Ready yourself, for you are not facing just goblins anymore! Get ever stronger up until level 16 to defeat the mightiest of foes!
  • Co-op with up to 4 players! Just like the two other official adventures, Palace of Ice is ready to be tackled solo or with friends.
New Dungeon Maker content:

  • Four new environments: Mountain Caves (indoor), Dwarven City (indoor), Dwarven Settlement (outdoor), Snowy Hills (outdoor)
  • New monsters: Monsters from Palace of Ice will be available to use in the Dungeon Maker
  • [FREE] New World Map System: Place your locations on one of the three existing World Maps (Crown of the Magister, Lost Valley & Palace of Ice), link them together and add some spice with Random Encounters during travel!
  • [FREE] New NPC Follower System: Create follower NPCs who can join the party (controllable) to give them a hand during combat!
Free content update for all!

  • Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Halflings and Half-Elves will all be receiving 6 new faces to choose from for free (3 Male / 3 Female)
  • Level 12 - 16 will be unlocked in the Dungeon Maker! Note that the Crown of the Magister and Lost Valley campaigns are still locked to level 12 max due to balance reasons.
