download openxcom and set "save scumming" on if you want rng to be different on reloads.
I dont get why someone (claiming to) desiring a challenge do that though.
also get x-piratez mod for it. tell us about your victories here

As i told was long time ago, and isnt it stupid if there are percentages in game that mean jack shit, and you are dealing with some hidden math that has nothing to do with hit percentages but the place you are standing on, which says 95 percent chance to hit, yet you will never hit from that spot. And yes there was save scumming long time ago when i was a noob. And you want to tell me on difficult encounters you dont load a game when you fuk up.

And while still on xcom topic, i liked that game, but as soon as i discovered that allready described issue was insta alt f4 and uninstall, never looked back. Do they still use that same mechanics in its sequels and is it easy as people say it is? Hmmm gonna google some mods for it and the one you recommended aswell. Hopefully its not same mechanics, coz they just dont make sense.

Wizardry 8 is from 2001. Try that one, by the time you are fighting topless Leaf Sprites you'll probably have faced harder stuff than anything you beat on Kingmaker.
Your own game wasn't lacking in that department either, especially in the beginning. There's hope the upcoming one is at least as challenging.

>So anything else that isnt from pre 2000
Fuck off and die. All best games were pre-2000, moron.

Try Knights of the Chalice.

Welcome to the Codex, nigger faggot.

I played it only recently. I have not played Nahlakh, but it's a game along the lines of Natuk, yes, except significantly bigger, and it's very cool, definitely a top tier game in my opinion.

Sounds like Nahlakh, then. It was huge, several continents with towns and dungeons and enormous (but empty) Demon World.

Well thanks for all replies. I see alot of reccomendations of the games with portraits waging war on another. Really not fan of those, they remind me to much of jrpgs, not a fan of those. Legend of grimrock 2 looks good for what it is, but i never liked those kinda games (with portraits).

Games with portraits ...
Anyway, your loss.

I'll second KotC, i'm not sure if random encounters (worldmap and dungeons) can be disabled, if so, you should.
Also, if you like it rough, no crafting/scribing either.

KotC 2 too but it's not available yet if you didn't back it on kickstarter.

You could also play Battle Brothers with the Legends mod on Legendary difficulty (on second playthrough, the original game is hard enough for a beginner)

Fallout Resurrection mod is also quite difficult, you can find it on NMA forums (No Mutants Allowed)

Temple of Elemental Evil also has some really tough battles, even one arguably unwinnable, i plan on making a specific build to beat/tank Iuz at some point but never bothered so far.

How's KotC 2 compared to KotC 1?

Different, it's a dungeon crawler, more linear than KotC, no city hubs even if you find a couple of friendly faces and merchants.
Also, every other fight looks like the ambush after the orc blockade and most optional fights are a watered down version of the last optional fight from KotC.

But it's character creation/dev porn with the best enemy AI you can find and a good editor for fan-made modules.

Then age of decadence... i dont know it was on my radar but for some reason is ugly.
Dungeon rats looks ok, and dungeon od naheulbeuk looks ok bit childish but ok.
So best answer is "go get some air" xD.

My friend, if you want to play good games, and if you want to play difficult games, there's no choice but to broaden your horizons on the graphical front.

Sadly, we do not live in a universe where most graphically advanced, but also good, but also difficult, games exist in any real quantity. You're essentially trying to find a pink unicorn.

Since you're already into Xcom, try Jagged Alliance 2 and Silent Storm.

Btw, Jagged Alliance 2 is 80% off on GOG:

Given that people are recommending DoomRL and JA2, I'll plug my niche tactical roguelike here:

Also if you don't mind using emulators, consider giving the Front Mission series a go, starting with the SNES one.
