I could see the game becoming a good adventure game, at best with some very minor cRPG element.
But a real cRPG ? What a curious idea, it's not like cRPG gamer like this kind of suff. Marketing it like a cRPG is not a good idea IMHO.
I hope it will sell well though.

Man, I don't know. I don't like modern South Park.
I liked it when the kids were still naive and kids, and Cartmen was so exquisitely conniving.

Still, every $ I give Obsidian is another $ MCA can spend on beer... tough decision.

Everyone who watched the Kickstarter countdown knows a drunk MCA is the best MCA.
Whoooooo!

What an utterly horrible idea for a game, a LARPing game with South Park characters, and all the gratuitous, pointless vulgarity and effrontery that comes with it, with the game mechanics and meta dialogues of an RPG Maker game. An unholy combination for a game if there ever was one.

It seems like the game will be up to the quality and value of the franchise itself, that is, utterly forgettable and useless, pointless trash.

I can't believe I see so many people excited to play this. If it was an RPG Maker game with fart jokes and offensive content made for the sake of being offensive and the same setting, no one would be interested.

Best HHR post ever. :bro:

It's a shit game. It was always going to be shit, and this video does not disprove it.

Codex, I am disappoint. Remember, you vote with your wallets. With every dime you pay for this, encourages more games like this. Heck, do you want Obsidian to work on a sequel for this, or do you want them to work on a real rpg?

No. If this fails, so could Obsidian, they're always barely alive. This should sell well, so they have more resources for "real" RPGs. If Obsidian falls what will we have then? Bioware? Bethesda? Blizzard? :(

I'd be very excited to see if this can live up to the proposed concept, of turning an episode of South Park into a video game and actually having it FEEL that way.

The fact that this is an RPG is really just icing on the cake, to be honest. I would be on board with a South Park video game of any genre if this much thought was being put into its design. But I haven't seen anything besides action-like/cinematic trailers, so I'm sure gameplay might be total crap in comparison.

Obsidian have been paid already in advance for this. However the game does will not affect them financially in the short run, if at all. I mean seriously guys, do you WANT this game to succeed, end up making a ton of $$$ for the South Shit duo, and thus have them spawn a million more games like it? I mean what's next, Family Guy the rpg? By Bioware?

It depends what you mean by success. If you mean that it will sell like hot buns and will turn out to be unplayable shit then yeah, we could live without it. However, if it turns out to be an enjoyable RPG-lite game with everything that makes South Park a decent show, then yes, by all means, it'll deserve success.

Somehow I think we will get a little bit of option A nad B, i.e. barely playable mess with some ingenious, original ideas which won't sell at all.

It will keep them alive and working though if they get a job to do the sequels too. So I don't care if they produce such turds as long as they make "real" crpgs too.

if this fails nothing's gonna happen to obsidian. it was a commissioned work and they'll recieve their money, no matter what. worst case is that they miss a bonus (like that shit that happened with beth) or that there're no royalties. guess what they really need is a next big project to bypass the time till eternity ships.

I'm curious as to what makes South Park a decent show. Explain that one and you get a prize. Or any of those cartoon comedies for that matter.
Why the hell do you imagine anyone is interested in explaining anything to you or anyone cares if you dont like something?

Stick that prize where the sun dont shine. mkay?

ffs... talk about arrogance...

Mother Russia Semper I summon thee. You are retarded, both of you. Do you know what will happen if this fails? Bad press for Obsidian. Do you think they will blame THQ, or Matt and Trey? Do you read the mainstream press? Let me enlighten you, every second article about Obsidian starts with "Obsidian are the number 2 guys" "they are the devs who have good ideas, but just can't make a good game". I know that these are BS, but the dumbfuck gamers don't. And every game that fails gives them bad reputation. This effect their business relations with publishers. How can you so short-sighted?

guess what they really need is a next big project to bypass the time till eternity ships.
And who will publish that if they fuck up a simple game as South Park.

I'm an Obsidian fanboi, but Jesus, Obsidian apologist in the Codex are so pathetic. I have lost count of how many times I have read these kind of comments: "Come on guys, let support Obsidian, even if they make this garbage; because if they are successful they will make a real RPG, for us". "Oh come on guys if we don't buy those shitty games, Obsidian will close its doors!". Every fucking single time they release something, it's the same.

Oh and I'm waiting the next batch of excuses, when somebody points out the penchant Obsidian has for releasing buggy games (Dungeon Sage 3 being the exception, of course): "Oh don't be harsh, it's the publisher fault. They rushed the game release".

How about this? I know that this will be a revelation for several of you: Maybe Obsidian's bad reputation with publishers is its own fault? Maybe releasing unpolished games with a lot of bugs has been one of the reasons of their shabby relationships with the publishers?

Still, a day one purchase for me. If after this Obsidian fails and folds I'll shed a tear and replay MotB seven times. At least I won't be reading this desperate, apologetic and pathetic drivel from the likes of J_C and General Fartson

I bought every Obsidian games because I was sure I would enjoy them. And I did, to varying degrees. Titles like NWN2 or DS3 were disappointing, but I still played them through more than once and enjoyed my time with them. That's not sufficient criterion to say they are The Best Ever or anything, but that's sufficient criterion to keep buying their games. South Park, though... I have never liked the show, or how it looks, and often found the show distasteful, so I'll have to wait and see.

I don't think anyone that says shit like 'support Obs by buying garbage' actually think they're buying garbage, can you find a Codexer who bought an Obsidian title never to play/enjoy it just because of the virtual MCA cocksucking factor? Doubt it. You, Kosmonaut, and everyone else, buy Obsidian games because they've been good enough in the past for you to estimate that they'll be worth buying. Once they fuck up for you enough for that to no longer be the case, you won't - just like how I don't even bother reading any previews or whatever about Bioware titles anymore.

TLDR; Volourn, as usual, is right M:

You're so edgy I fuckin' cut myself. :smug:

I like Obsidian, and want them to prosper financially. If they fail, as I said, all I'm left with in AA are Bioware, Blizzard and Bethesda. And unlike those, for Obsidian I have some hope they will publish something I'd like. If you're butthurt about it, that's your problem, not mine. Faggot.

PS. No, I'm not gonna buy Stick of Turd. But I sure hope it sells in millions of copies, just to cause you EXTREME :butthurt:. :smug:

And why do you think I say that I hope they make a good solid game, which won't fail? Because if they release a buggy game that will fail critically and comercially, they will had more bad rep.

I have lost count of how many times I have read these kind of comments: "Come on guys, let support Obsidian, even if they make this garbage; because if they are successful they will make a real RPG, for us".
First, why wouldn't I support them if I'm interested in it? Just because you think it is garbage? You know what, I hope South Park will be a billion seller success, and they will make a sequel to it, then another, and another. And you know why I want this? Because Obsidian is a big enough studio to handle several projects, and while they are making the South Park games, they can still make us a Project Eternity, a FAllout New Vegas or a MotB. But if they fail with South Park, then less publishers will be willing to contract them. And don't call me pathetic, asshole.

Do you know what will happen if this fails? Do you read the mainstream press?

the mainstream press?!
kotor2 - 86
nwn2 - 82
alpha protocol - 72
dungeon siege 3 - 73
new vegas - 84

do you really think that the mainstream press scores south park lower then 72? there're jews, jesus, farts, gays, dumbness everywhere... basically it's south park glued together with some rpg aspects. it won't fail in the press which says nothing about the financial success. but that was the point of my post. obsidian got paid and they could give a fuck about south park's success moneywise.

but thx for pointing out that bad press ain't selling your pitches to greedy publishers, cap'n obvious.

It happens every time, just like he said. Seriously, if the average IQ of Obsidian fanbois would drop lower it would be just like with Bethesda and Bioware. Come one FaggotAngel and J_C, you can do it if you join forces! Stupidity unite!
