Seriously though, was the set necessarily? Like, I'd rather he had been paid to just book mark the shit out of all his books. And sit on the couch.

EDIT: Fuck, I missed the episode it seems and he already did this. Clever man. What a wise spending of money

What's wrong with the set? I think it is very moody. And it was a stretchgoal on his Patreon.

I dunno, it sorta feels try hard to me. Like the charm I found in the original stories he told was he was simply bored and recalling certain stories on Twitter and decided "Well, why not?" and recorded the videos. That and before his payload of Counter Monkey videos, it felt this wasted thing to actually invest in. Mainly because it also felt like he was running out of good material. Until these videos of course.

Heh, I found that he mentioned his mother to be one of the more interesting parts here. She still doesn't know exactly what Spoony does.

Well I do know: not an awful lot. :smug:

Yeah, she told her he was an "actor" and a "comedian". Poor mother, if only she would know.

Spending my entire day doing fuck all and getting over $3500 per month for it?

Hell yeah I'd sign up for that.
Even better, ranting about your PnP experiences and having people pay attention, pay you for it, pay you a lot.

It's as if he has no notion of the pre-Christian Bard of Gaelic (Druidic) tradition, and thinks "bard" just means a medieval Jongler.

Umm , I don't think that pre-Christian whatever is so widespread that everyone should know that. Is it really emberassing to not know that? I don't think so.

If you have to google it to know if it exists, it is now a common knowledged. :)

I googled it and found nothing about it. This is a pretty autistic complaint.

I haven't watched the video, but I assume when you make potentially hour-long+ videos about something that you make some effort to know a little about it.

The second result on a google search for bard is:
Bard - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bard
Wikipedia
In medieval Gaelic and British culture, a bard was a professional poet/story teller, employed by a patron, such as a monarch or nobleman, to commemorate one ...
Bard (Soviet Union) - ‎Fili - ‎Contention of the bards - ‎The Bards of Wales

Still, we are talking about D&D bards here, and we all know that those are musicians and storytellers, not gaelic druids. :P

Yes, that's exactly what we all know a Bard is. It says nothing about Druidic tradition. You putz!

I think we can all agree he's been doing a good job on these. It's nice how he doesn't run out of stories to tell. I, for one, had no idea how these old-ass bards worked. I was only introduced to AD&D with Baldur's Gate and Eye of the Beholder.

How would you know what to google if all you knew was that a bard is a dude in a funny hat who does some singing and plays the lute? How would you even know to google for something else than that? Granted, I'd personally want to do some digging because of that seemingly odd druid requirement, but that's just me.

Plus, cut Spoony some slack. It took him years to actually start marking pages for these vlogs and start restraining himself in terms of pointless, repetitive rambling. Years of just about everyone bitching to him about it and him throwing a hissy fit from time to time because of those complaints. You really expect that guy to start doing actual serious, historical research for his D&D vlogs?

When I googled celtic bards and bards druidic I got nothing so it can't be that common knowledge. In fact, the first result was a neo-pagan order of bards and druids.

It definitely isn't. Not anywhere near as widespread as the fantasy bard cliche these days.

Probably should be common knowledge for a self-appointed expert on old-school AD&D bards, though :smug:

As far as the video itself goes it was pretty good considering how bloated and shitty Counter Monkey got at some point.
