Is nobody else bothered by the look of the goofy motherfucking main char? I can't take this seriously as a Star Wars game when he looks like he's just stepped out of goddam Fortnite.:argh:
The actor is kinda weird looking and was an odd casting choice. He played joker in the gotham TV series.

the game world design is exceptional

but the troopers need 3+ hits to die and the puzzles are shit

the game seems to be mediocre, more fun that ToW but still mediocre

I've not yet met any troopers needing 3+ hits to die unless they're melee ones using block.

I played it on console and have some impressions;

Pros:
-Stellar popamole presentation, Uncharted but in Star Wars universe. This could be a con depending on if you like or hate that style of game and cinematic presentation. 20 minutes in and the story is already better than the Disney films, but that's not saying much.
-Combat is good, I would compare it to Sekiro more than Souls though. Only one weapon, (AFAIK) skill tree instead of levels, no stamina bar.
-Levels are pretty open with secret areas and hidden paths. It does the Souls thing of having tough, optional fights off in corners of the level that give you a reward for beating.
-You can visit planets out of order, after clearing the baby training planet I was given a plot planet to visit but could also visit another new one.

Cons:
-Lightsaber doesn't really feel powerful. Melee troopers can block your saber and take multiple hits, it feels more like you're using a training saber or combat stick. (this might have been a better approach - give you a gimp weapon to start and give you the saber later so it feels earned) If you enjoyed Jedi Academy and the way your lightsaber would cut random things when it touched them, even if you were just running past or in idle stance, Fallen Order doesn't do it - your saber will clip through objects without affecting them.
-The Uncharted influence is clear when the game expects you to do a bunch of boring climbing on things. Fortunately it's nowhere near as bad as Uncharted 4, but I've only been to 3 planets so far.
-Most things you get for exploring are cosmetic, like different lightsaber hilts and jackets.

These are all just first impressions so my opinion could change, but it's good for what it is - Uncharted clone in Star Wars universe with Souls/Sekiro inspired combat and exploration.

I wish I could get into Star Wars to try these silly dumb games out. I liked those old side scrollers on SNES though when I played them at a friend's.

Pretty good game so far. Will post further impressions later, but I really like the combat. It's very "Souls-lite" on the hardest difficulty. I like that there are no guns, and while very limited in terms of power, the force powers are nicely thought through in terms of what they bring to the dynamic of melee combat. Plus, the laser deflection mechanic is brilliant. Adds way more to combat, and I think it works better than even Dark Forces' simple "face enemy with your sword out to deflect" non-mechanic. Not to mention having a stamina bar and being able to block in combat. The saber duels in this are great, although their major downside is that the light-saber is somewhat under powered vs the bosses. What I loved about Jedi Academy was that, even for some of the toughest Jedi enemies, if you got a lucky hit in, you could end the fight instantly, even on the hardest difficulty. The duels in Fallen Order are much more conventional, Souls-like, boss fights, so they don't have that level of surprise.

It really sucks that this game doesn't have multiplayer, though. With its combat mechanics, I actually think it could have rivaled "Jedi Academy" in terms of pvp saber combat, although the lack of other weapons would have severely limited the multiplay to only one on one saber battles.

Story is generic and forgettable.

Also, the developers seem to have stolen John Mulaney's likeness for the main character. He should sue:

I was sold on the combat during the opening train section where you're fighting melee storm troopers with parries and strikes while also deflecting distant storm troopers' blaster shots between melee strikes. It all felt fluid and badass, and required something from the player while also not feeling annoying to pull off.

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy Codex Year of the Donut Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
I'm playing with a PS4 controller.

Same here. Wondering, do you have any problem with button presses not registering? Seems to have trouble blocking stuff for some reason. If I hold down block he blocks the first attack, but then the next attacks hits and stunlocks me.

I have only played a little bit, so I've only done the tutorial and chopped up some bugs in the second area, but I'll let you know if I notice something out of the ordinary.

>Black woman so powerful she can beat Vader but doesn't but is secretly the stronkest force user before Rey exists
>It becomes doubly stupid as Vader was originally voiced by a black man

But seriously though it's pure SJW pandering. I watched the ending and all of the important parts are about her. She has the big conversation with the evil girl under Vader and then saves the main character and beats Vader only to be stopped from killing him. Its absolutely retarded.

I'm pretty sure she was who they wanted to be the main character but realized nobody would want to play her. So every important bit is actually about her while the main character just gets his shit whipped left and right.

Even in the fucking Force Unleashed where you played a stupidly OP DONUT STEEL Vader and Palpatine were still basically unbeatable. But this random black female ex-jedi can handle him no problem.

You fucking idiot stop posting spoilers for a game that's days old. What the fuck is wrong with you, did you get dropped on the head as a child? Did mummy not hug you enough? Did daddy fuck you up the ass with his giant dick?

Man some people just need to be taken outside and shot in the face.

Alright so I'm 11 hours in, have been playing it pretty much nonstop all of today. It's a lot of fun. Has been some frustrating moments, mostly me being a moron with not using combat skills properly, when I actually make an effort to get good it's all good again. Frame drops are really annoying though. Dropped everything to High to try to mitigate it a bit.

In other news, I watched the first two episodes of The Mandalorian and it kicks all kinds of ass. Online reviews complaining about the lead not taking off his helmet... fucking retards.

I want to play this but I don't want to pay EA for it.

It's definitely not worth 40+ Euro despite the fact that it's probably the best SW game released in quite some time.

Either I pirate it or I wait for a discount.
