When it finally drops and it's unveiled as a steaming turd, I would say "I told you so", but it also turns out that you all love to eat shit.
I think "fuck you, I was right!" would be more appropriate, always liked it better.
I have given up hope that Bethesda will ever release a good game even remotely resembling an RPG ever again.

There is an aura surrounding these recent advertisements that Todd Howard put into words in their latest video when he said " We know it's been a long time since we put out a game". Did we forget about Fallout 4 in 2015 and Fallout 76 in 2018, with the latest expansion 'The Pitt' that just dropped last November?

No, Bethesda are clearly alluding to Skyrim being their last "big game" and Starfield is their next one, the biggest yet, in fact!***
It's the royal "we", Todd simply meant it's been a long time since he's put out a game. Fo76 wasn't one of his, and eight years since Fo4 qualifies as a long time. Clearly, Todd Howard is also upset that Microsoft hasn't agreed to let him rename his part of Bethesda Game Studios into Todd Howard Inc. I understand, I'm also upset at this.

Tood Howard wants us to experience what it feels to play Stones of Arnhem and kill giant scrotum monsters, trust the plan. Todd knows best what players want!

Todd's made a point, I think in a few interviews, that Starfield's the first game they've designed, from the outset, to be played for 10-20 years. If those planets and moons can be overhauled...

People have been playing Skyrim for 12 years now, so the real question is if Todd can do on purpose what he has done by accident before?

People are only still playing Skyrim (and morrowind, or even daggerfall) because they aren't happy with what bethesda has produced since then. Bad sign for Starfield!

There is truth to that. But thats only part of the reason. You forgot to include Fallout 4 btw. It at any time on Steam has 15k plus people playing. The other reason, the main reason, is mods. Fallout 76 was a join effort between Bethesda, Arkane, and Zenimax Online and iD. Anyways, yeah, 76 sucked. I suppose it is playable now. I played a bit but grew increasingly disgusted with the monetization.

Starfield will be a success. It will be easily moddable. And people will play it for years. I don't believe it will have quite the same staying power as Elder Scrolls and Fallout because I don't believe they will make a sequel anytime soon if at all. Its back to Elder Scrolls and Fallout before Todd calls it quits.

All that means is they're building a platform game rather than a good game. Starfield confirmed to be a barren wasteland of lame content and barely functional mechanics.

I cannot even put into words how disgusted I feel reading the posts in this thread and seeing you all engaging with this sloppy shit Bethesda are about to dump over everyone's heads.

If you have even a modicum of patience, Bethesda games are worth getting a couple of years after the fact for a big discount just for a laugh.

Yeah, mods are pretty much why people keep coming back to those games. Bethesda did a smart thing in making their games so damn easy to mod and tinker with.
Which makes the whole Creation Club / No Achievements with Modded games convention they have going on really fucking stupid.

Yes, undermine the main attraction of your games by pushing for a glorified set of microtransations and remove a feature of the game if you use a non-Creation Club mod, way to show respect towards your fan-base, geniuses.

It depends, will Starfield be compatible with Lovers Lab?

Of course. Loverslab will be an entire planet. So will Nirn and Fallout Earth. If the planets can be modified, there will be projects for 40K, Star Trek, maybe Foundation or the Alien universes too.

There are mods for that, too.
Which makes the whole thing even worse.
Yo dawg, I heard you like mods, so we made a mod that allows you to use mods so you can get cheevos with mods while you mod.

Can't wait for those mod projects to be finished in the year 2035 in time for Starfield 2.

I kinda get the cheevo thing. If you're the sort of person who cares about cheevos, you may well care that someone else got that cheevo by "cheating" with a mod. Which, for someone like me who thinks cheevos are dumb, makes those cheevo re-enabling mods all the more hilarious... Bethesda tried to fix away modded cheevos, so mods went and fixed Bethesda's fix.

Monetising mods is a much gnarlier discussion for another time and place, but you are correct that the Creation Club is just microtransactions at this point, an outsourced Horse Armour DLC bazaar, something that can and should be ignored out of hand. Which makes me all the more apprehensive about what Zenimax Microsoft might try next...

Cheating with a mod, as opposed to good old fashioned Cheat Engine, or just a thing which directly invokes the cheevoserver API, none of which also exist, and would be a lot less hassle to use than trying to install mods...

You don't even need to use Cheat Engine. The Console does not prevent the unlocking of Acheivements and it's a lot easier to use than mods or CE, making this whole "it's to prevent cheating! (in a single player game)" argument moot.
It really is just to push people to use their shitty Creation Club service. It's also why they are unlocking CC content for free with some versions of Skyrim or FO4; to get people used to that crap so they can pave the way for paid mods.
