I am curious though, what do you mean about "location discovery" that balloons the save file, what data goes into that?

As for what data is going in the save files regarding discovery locations I cannot say. But I do know, that it only applies to locations you discover. The save file size has no effect if you use the console command "tmm 1". That command shows every location on your map but you can't fast travel to them. It is only once you actually discover the location that it gets permanently baked into the save file.
I am pretty certain that's just how map flags work, so turning on the display of map markers you haven't actually unlocked merely shows them, without actually unlocking them, because you can use console commands to travel to any cell at will, regardless of whether you've previously "discovered" them.

SkyUI StarUI can't come soon enough. I hope modders get early access to fix things for release.
It's a disgrace that with every single fucking release the modders have to touch up the UI for PC users because Bethsoft is too lazy to implement it from the get to. They could get some good will and marketing points on the cheap if they'd just pay the modder a few thousand to implement a decent PC UI before release.
On the other hand, this tool is playing the game with a controller anyhow so I'm starting to doubt if anyone at Bethsoft even plays their own games using a mouse and keyboard. The only mods they probably use are those from the Xbox store or whatever.

its a disgrace

It's not laziness, they deliberately want the PC version to look and play no better than the console version. They'd probably make playing with a controller mandatory if they thought they could get away with it.

There is an aura surrounding these recent advertisements that Todd Howard put into words in their latest video when he said " We know it's been a long time since we put out a game". Did we forget about Fallout 4 in 2015 and Fallout 76 in 2018, with the latest expansion 'The Pitt' that just dropped last November?

No, Bethesda are clearly alluding to Skyrim being their last "big game" and Starfield is their next one, the biggest yet, in fact!***

Turns out consumers are not learning creatures and can't recognize decline when they see it, even when it's been right in front of their eyes for over a decade. I cannot even put into words how disgusted I feel reading the posts in this thread and seeing you all engaging with this sloppy shit Bethesda are about to dump over everyone's heads.

When it finally drops and it's unveiled as a steaming turd, I would say "I told you so", but it also turns out that you all love to eat shit.
