Now when they did their KS they wanted to get money from the normies who might not be familiar with their previous, ahem, work, as well as from the degenerates who used to finance them on Patreon. They kinda didn't address the whole monster porn thing a whole lot during the KS hoping to play both sides. Afterwards during the development more info started coming out. Initially there was supposed to be a sort of skill tree where you would unlock the sex scenes and upgrade the girls. There was a lot of backlash from the normie faction complaining that they didn't want to see forced NTR, and so FOW gutted the whole thing. This is how we got the current system where you just buy the scenes from a gallery.

In a perverse (heh) way, I think that FOW hoped that this gallery system would please everyone since this system takes very little effort on their part. They just need to animate some scenes. No need to have to also take in consideration how they fit in with the rest of the game. Easy work. Unfortunately for them a lot of people complained about the bare bones nature of it and rightly claimed that they were cheated out of the experience. Now the only people who support the current system are the vanillafags who are scared they're gonna get cucked by aliens.

They say that they are going to revamp the scenes in the next updated and give them more context, but I think the damage has already been done at this point, unless they bring in the VA's again to record new dialogue lines.

You know, it's funny. My games are in adult dev (I'm... on the lower-mid side in popularity, probably?) and I never bothered to learn much about FOW other than that they have drama.

So much so that a LOT of adult devs straight out hate them for making what they say is a lazy meme game and giving the industry a bad name.
